Why does the casting department insist on casting adults in their 20s to play people in their mid-teens? The scene with Jade and Amy was silly because it felt and looked weird that a grown woman was threatening a child!

It is totally unrealistic lately and I know it's only a soap.
Nish getting the DCI lady straight away on the phone was another moment too. Poor Stacey though :(
Priya just happened to be outside the laundry door at the right moment to hear Kat and Suki talking too. I thought she worked in the mini mart? Why don't they ever do a single shift without wandering off lol
Amy was good today though

I assumed Priya was at the laundrette to ask about the job that was mentioned earlier to her.

Another unrealistic thing - rapist Dean hanging about in the area and starting a business where nobody likes him. I wish I could hate the character - and I don't like him - but I do feel sorry for him because of Jade and her illness. I guess this is what the writers want - making him three-dimensional?

I'm not sure if the writers want us to actually feel sorry for Dean ? It's a terrible storyline and I feel for Jade having a rapist as a dad tbh. She seems a nice character ( even if her actual casting is iffy !!)
I certainly don't feel sorry for a character who attacked two women and we know that he definitely did rape Linda as they showed him with her. It was a distressing horrible episode
I don't remember him attacking Roxy , but Shirley did intervene there ( someone said on one of the EE threads) but I remember them dating.
I wish Dean would just go ,maybe sell his share of the pie n mash shop to Suki or something!

I don’t know about wanting us to feel sorry for him, I think it’s more writing him as a three dimensional character. So, wrt to that, for me it’s working. I suppose nobody is all bad, are they? Matt di Angelo is doing a good job.

Dean makes a good storyline. In one sense, yes people are accused of crimes like rape where they’re innocent etc but just wasn’t convicted/found guilty is that right? Maybe EE are showing it as look what can happen if… and that his daughter stood up for him.

I thought that was iffy too, Nish rings the police and straight through to detectives.

Also, why on earth did Nish have such a wide boy bent solicitor? And of course Eve knows of him and he’s dodgy. Couldn’t make it up.

No, I take your point that they want a more rounded character and not just ' Dean the baddie' but I can't help hating the character for what he did. Linda n mick were so happy back then and he ruined it all for them both ( even though mick did believe her and was supportive)
He then got away with it too! I just loath the character and was glad that Amy did what she did today too.
(Matt is doing a good job and I hope people don't hate him , only the character he plays in the soap! )

I think that with Linda she did report it, but there wasn't enough evidence or something like that ? I can remember he got off , but not how or why. I don't remember the Roxy episode at all either , only very vaguely

Just watching today’s episode. Is Jade being brought to Pakistan to be married to a cousin or something there?!

Jade mentioned her mum the other day and going away with her. I didng even consider an arranged marriage tbh

But sadly that’s the case if you’re Muslim even half Muslim. Arranged/forced marriage is very much still a thing.

I don't mean necessarily half Muslim. Just that Jade's DM is Muslim, Dean isn't. Not sure how Jade has been brought up religion wise - if she's had the Muslim religious teachings or not. That's what I mean. It's also a moot point in other religions, a close friend of mine is Jewish, her DH is Catholic and they adopted 2 girls who are now in their early 20s from South Korea. They've been taught both the religions of the parents, go to synagogue/church and celebrate both religions but they didn't have a confirmation/Bat Mitzvah. I think their DF would've liked them to be confirmed and their DM would've like them to have Bat Mitzvahs. Their DM refused the offer from her DH's grandparents of payment for Catholic school education as she knew her girls would be indoctrinated in the Catholic faith and also they refused to budge on religion, so e.g. no private school which wasn't catholic (this is in USA by the way). She also refused to move where her IL's live which is South (West Virginia) as she stated it was racist there for her as a Jewish woman and the same for her 2 girls being Korean, she's happy to visit there though for holidays.

But I've known of a couple of women (young) who are half and half and their fathers/mothers/relatives are more than keen for them to 'have a holiday back home' to introduce and get married to a relative or family friend. One woman luckily said no thanks and her DM (English) went to get her back. Think the other woman was married off.

That's a very strange leap to make?? Jade clearly said that Zainab is unwell which is why Shabnam is going over to look after her and invited jade to come too

Having watched today's one ( part one) I do think that shabnam just wants jade's help with Zainab, but might be a ruse to just get her there.
Oh dear re Stacey ! She is forgetting that Jack hasn't a clue about Christmas , although even he might be knitting it together after today !
( he is meant to be a policeman after all )

I remember the episode when Dean attempted to rape Roxy and Shirley found him mid-attack. She threw him in the bath and kind of tried to drown him.

I wonder if he’s actually convinced himself he’s innocent? Even when he ‘apologised’ to Linda he said he was doing it so Karma would reward him and save Jade, not that he was truly sorry for anything.

Reading between the lines. It'd make a good juicy storyline for EE but maybe controversial.

I actually find it quite concerning that no one seems to have read more into this than 'sick mother living in Pakistan is unwell and wants her DD/granddaughter there'. Why would Jade be needed? She has schooling in England to attend to/attend. Jade would be better off living with her dad (Dean) in England. Then there's the question of her medical treatment. Zainab was hardly the nicest female in the Masood household from what I recall either.

Going back a few months , I seem to remember that the Zainab character could be making a return although at the moment I can't see how she would slot into everything.

I actually watched a few clips of Jade and Amira and then Zainab when she returned from Pakistan with another man.
