VIGIL S2 - bbc 1 9pm - sun mon Tue - TV PACE NO SPOILERS

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/12/2023 17:33

This is tv paced !!!!

The highly-anticipated sequel will see DCI Amy Silva (Suranne Jones) and DS Kirsten Longacre (Rose Leslie) look into a dark conspiracy in the world of the British Air Force in a brand new investigation.

Following a string of suspicious fatalities the pair must enter the secret world of drone warfare to catch a killer — and we can hardly wait!

An official synopsis from the BBC reads as follows...
"Following multiple deaths at a Scottish weapons test, Silva and Longacre are tasked with finding out the cause.

Entering the closed ranks of the air force in Scotland and the Middle East, the pair face the deadly warfare of tomorrow as they fight for their own uncertain future."

Creator Tom Edge had previously dropped a few hints that he would look for a different setting for the drama.

“We have probably told as many of the stories as we would wish to tell on a submarine,” he told Radio Times (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/vigil-season-2-renewed-newsupdate/). “But some of the characters that we have developed as we’ve made it, they feel like characters that we’d love to burrow into. So if there’s a will to do it from everyone else then certainly I would be up for it.”

I’m delighted that Suranne and Rose are returning to reprise their roles as DCI Amy Silva and DI Kirsten Longacre," said the show's creator Tom Edge in a BBC statement.

"I'm grateful to the BBC for the opportunity to take them on a thrilling new adventure. World Productions have built a fantastic reputation for twisting, turning thrillers and this one corkscrews with the best of them.”

With more than 10 million viewers tuning in to watch the first episode in the week following its release, it was the UK's most successful original drama since Bodyguard (https://www.whattowatch.com/watching-guides/bodyguard-season-2-cast-plot-and-all-we-know) launched in 2018.
Now creator Tom Edge has penned a second series, with Suranne Jones and Ro
se Leslie both returning, plus some exciting new stars. Here's everything we know so far...

Vigil season 2 will start on BBC One on Sunday 10 December on BBC One at 9 pm. Episode 2 will then air on Monday 11 December at 9 pm. And then the third on Tuesday evening.
Here's the complete release schedule:
6am Sunday 10 December – episodes one, two and three available on BBC iPlayer
9pm Sunday 10 December – episode one TX on BBC One
9pm Monday 11 December – episode two TX on BBC One
9pm Tuesday 12 December – episode three TX on BBC One

@MillicentMaybe she was in the good fight ?

I love that. And the good wife

Who was she

She played Miai Rindell, daughter of a super rich criminal type guy. She joined the law firm at the start as a young newbie.

MillicentMaybe · 18/12/2023 15:37

Piggywaspushed · 18/12/2023 13:52

I don't think she has any accent at all IRL. She's literally aristocratic.

I think the accent she is doing is a bit Dundee but I'd imagine she could do an Aberdonian one.

It is definitely not a Glaswegian accent.

Edited

Well I hear the touch of Glasgow in there, not sure about the rest. I’m Glasgow born and bred so that’s what jumps out at me.

Piggywaspushed · 18/12/2023 16:07

I am too, and can't hear that at all! I hear East coast upwards inflections.

Perhaps she is trying all of them at once.

MillicentMaybe · 18/12/2023 17:52

Oh well, must just be that I’m
not particularly familiar with east coast accents.

Piggywaspushed · 18/12/2023 19:23

It also really annoyed me that Rose kept saying Amy SilvER quite clearly. She's literally her partner.

Watching just now and I get what you’re saying about the upward inflection, still hear a wee bit Glasgow underneath. The way she just said ‘No’ to the wee girl - that was pure Glasgow sounding.

MidgeFragnets · 18/12/2023 21:31

I'm sticking with it. Not as good as S1 but seems more believable, especially the implied corruption.

Forestdweller11 · 18/12/2023 22:01

Well. So who is dead in the plane? This must be the torpedo tube equivalent!

Forestdweller11 · 18/12/2023 22:04

Trapped in a Hercules with a killer. She's going to want a few weeks off when she gets back to Scotland.

Parachute?

I did think that the intelligence bloke was being too helpful. But is that a red herring and he's actually on the side of the angels.

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 18/12/2023 22:12

If Dougray Scott wasn't already back in Scotland, I'd have said he was the killer, but I wonder if it's actually Eliza. Probably in cahoots with someone else. We are enjoying it but it's a lot of hooey, isn't it? I've never been inside a high security prison but I really doubt even police officers are allowed to take their mobiles in with them and have them on the table across from a suspected terrorist.

Ah well, we'll find out tomorrow. I can't see there being a series 3, but I suppose they could move onto the Army.

Pebble21uk · 18/12/2023 22:35

I used to work in a prison and it's a criminal offence to take a mobile in with you! Even accidentally! I left mine in my coat pocket by accident once - declared it to security and had to be interviewed by someone very senior while my mobile was placed in an exhibit bag. I had to show them the photos I had on it to prove none were taken inside the prison... it was a big deal!

I think quite a lot of suspension of disbelief is necessary!

Sharedcupboard · 19/12/2023 06:37

I watched the last episode on iplayer last night before bed. It all comes together and thankfully not all within the last 10 minutes as other dramas do.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/12/2023 07:40

I haven't seen last nights yet as was working - will watch today

So haven't read thread since 9pm or read recap yet

Yes the two of them together makes sense.

Unless the guy lied about the data saying that the drone was being piloted from Wudyan?

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/12/2023 20:05

Hi think it's getting good

I'm hoping elliza has shot the baddie qnd not her shot

Hence she said I hope you are wrong about this before got on the plane

So Amy knew someone would try and take her life

And Eliza knew this and was wary and on the look out

Glad sam isn't a baddie and he was trying to get evidence to say government was lying

Didn't expect Daniel Ramsey to be corrupt 🙀🥲

Can't write for tonight's

Hope had a good ending

OP posts:
diddl · 19/12/2023 20:26

Hmm I'm suspicious of Eliza now.

Wes dead & her injured?

Forestdweller11 · 19/12/2023 21:24

Eliza the baddie? Or classic misdirection?.

Forestdweller11 · 19/12/2023 22:48

So what did we think ? So glad the intelligence guy wasn't a bad lot.

MidgeFragnets · 19/12/2023 22:55

I enjoyed it but I struggled with the pace of it all coming together in the last 20 minutes. Still working out the chain of events and why.

Really interesting story and glad something like this is out there on TV at the moment, especially with what is going on in the world.

MajesticWhine · 19/12/2023 23:00

I suspected the mi5 guy was a baddie for quite a while, then I thought I was right but then he wasn't. Confused as hell. Grin

Mytattooisbiggerthanyours · 20/12/2023 00:33

This whole series is so far fetched that it is annoying me. And why does the army Sargeant Major sound hysterical all the time? She has to be a plant as she is a rubbish army officer.

Wow. That was extreme

Well done who called grainger being a baddie

And it was Eliza flying the drone that killed those soldiers

Glad him and Eliza got life

And sam out in two years

Glad Ramsey wasn't a baddie

All in all very good

But obv to be taken with a pinch of salt as some things couldn't have happened

Biggest turnaround was the reporter at the end and his words

daffodilandtulip · 20/12/2023 08:40

I did think Eliza was dodgy from the start, when they did that scene whirling around her dramatically. Some of the rest hurt my head but I still enjoyed it.

I'm a fan of Suranne too but not so much her partner. She's quite a good detective but she seems too emotional and dramatic for them to be in a relationship.
