VIGIL S2 - bbc 1 9pm - sun mon Tue - TV PACE NO SPOILERS

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/12/2023 17:33

This is tv paced !!!!

The highly-anticipated sequel will see DCI Amy Silva (Suranne Jones) and DS Kirsten Longacre (Rose Leslie) look into a dark conspiracy in the world of the British Air Force in a brand new investigation.

Following a string of suspicious fatalities the pair must enter the secret world of drone warfare to catch a killer — and we can hardly wait!

An official synopsis from the BBC reads as follows...
"Following multiple deaths at a Scottish weapons test, Silva and Longacre are tasked with finding out the cause.

Entering the closed ranks of the air force in Scotland and the Middle East, the pair face the deadly warfare of tomorrow as they fight for their own uncertain future."

Creator Tom Edge had previously dropped a few hints that he would look for a different setting for the drama.

“We have probably told as many of the stories as we would wish to tell on a submarine,” he told Radio Times (https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/vigil-season-2-renewed-newsupdate/). “But some of the characters that we have developed as we’ve made it, they feel like characters that we’d love to burrow into. So if there’s a will to do it from everyone else then certainly I would be up for it.”

I’m delighted that Suranne and Rose are returning to reprise their roles as DCI Amy Silva and DI Kirsten Longacre," said the show's creator Tom Edge in a BBC statement.

"I'm grateful to the BBC for the opportunity to take them on a thrilling new adventure. World Productions have built a fantastic reputation for twisting, turning thrillers and this one corkscrews with the best of them.”

With more than 10 million viewers tuning in to watch the first episode in the week following its release, it was the UK's most successful original drama since Bodyguard (https://www.whattowatch.com/watching-guides/bodyguard-season-2-cast-plot-and-all-we-know) launched in 2018.
Now creator Tom Edge has penned a second series, with Suranne Jones and Ro
se Leslie both returning, plus some exciting new stars. Here's everything we know so far...

Vigil season 2 will start on BBC One on Sunday 10 December on BBC One at 9 pm. Episode 2 will then air on Monday 11 December at 9 pm. And then the third on Tuesday evening.
Here's the complete release schedule:
6am Sunday 10 December – episodes one, two and three available on BBC iPlayer

I was wondering if it’s codes for bombs?

SausageCasseroles · 17/12/2023 22:33

Ooh I'm liking this!

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/12/2023 23:21

Wow. Be intense tonight

I still can't work out if he's a goodie or baddie

It was better tonight - action packed!

I love Suranne Jones and think her character makes more sense than her girlfriend, who just seems too emotional for the job.

Walkingtheplank · 18/12/2023 00:12

What a load of rubbish. The first three episodes were quite enjoyable but this one tonight was over dramatic, ridiculous decisions, awful acting. Not sure we'll bother with tomorrow's and perhaps just watch end of episode 6.

martinisforeveryone · 18/12/2023 09:45

I've bailed out and spent the time watching the rather excellent Slow Horses on Apple. Highly recommend.

diddl · 18/12/2023 09:46

I still can't work out if he's a goodie or baddie

Who?

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 18/12/2023 10:09

Have seen others have bailed! Was speaking to DM about this the other day as she enjoyed it first time round and she’s given up.

MillicentMaybe · 18/12/2023 10:35

It’s a mess really, but I’m hanging in there just to see how bad it gets. To be honest, I haven’t a clue what’s going on. Utter nonsense, but I’m a glutton for punishment.

DuncinToffee · 18/12/2023 10:41

Last night was very comical because it was so ridiculous.

RAFOfficer · 18/12/2023 11:05

I didn’t watch last night’s

MajesticWhine · 18/12/2023 11:47

It is a bit complicated, but I like the main characters so I'm sticking with it.
Of course it's far fetched, it's telly isn't it? Suspend your disbelief Smile

lazymum99 · 18/12/2023 12:37

@martinisforeveryone Slow Horses is brilliant tv. I am on the third series and unfortunately I didn’t realise they only drop an episode a week and I am waiting for the next one. BTW the books are really good too

backtowinter · 18/12/2023 12:50

Coolblur · 16/12/2023 09:36

I'm a couple of episodes in, enjoying it so far.
Did anyone catch at the start of episode 2 Rose Leslie's character telling the daughter to 'zig zag' when running from the gunman in the woods? Grin

I'm trying to work out how that's noteworthy. What did you find funny about that?

Wondering if I've missed something

backtowinter · 18/12/2023 12:51

I'm quite enjoying it so far although Rose Leslie's accent is very strange

MillicentMaybe · 18/12/2023 12:55

backtowinter · 18/12/2023 12:51

I think she’s posh Scots background and is trying to give it the Glasgow touch as far as the accent goes.

Does anybody remember her in the The Good Fight? She could give Suranne a run for her money in the gurning stakes in that series. It was the first time I came across her and she’s forever known to me as Twisty Face Woman now.

backtowinter · 18/12/2023 13:00

Yes she's Mearns/Aberdeenshire super posh but she is going for rough-ish accent. Bits of Fife in there. Quite incongruous

LadyEloise1 · 18/12/2023 13:22

Perhaps I have a low bar but I think it's good Blush and both Oscar Salem who plays Sattam and Chris Jenks who plays Callum are easy on the eye.

Piggywaspushed · 18/12/2023 13:52

I don't think she has any accent at all IRL. She's literally aristocratic.

I think the accent she is doing is a bit Dundee but I'd imagine she could do an Aberdonian one.

It is definitely not a Glaswegian accent.

The bf who used password and found usb stick

So is the government lying /covering up /coruot

@MillicentMaybe she was in the good fight ?

I love that. And the good wife

Who was she

OP posts:

The bf who used password and found usb stick

He said his people didn't do the other killings

Ah right.

I keep thinking that Marcus Grainger must be involved-purely because he is played by Dougray Scott!

But all those British soldiers at the beginning😮

I suppose I don't really want it to be the foreign terrorists trope again!

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/12/2023 15:17

Captain Kader. Is he a baddie

He asked his bf to take the usb so wasn't found

OP posts:
NoisyBrain · 18/12/2023 15:23

I'm sticking with it because of the time I've invested so far, but I much preferred the first series.
