Going to have a listen to this banger before bed!

90stalgia · 14/05/2023 00:18

I shall be adding Norway's song to my playlist - absolutely loved it.

Mindovermatter247 · 14/05/2023 00:18

Convenient Sweden won, so it will be hosted there next year on no other than the 50th anniversary of abba winning… little bit sus if you ask me 🧐

AnyaMarx · 14/05/2023 00:18

I'm watching!

Sweden would be a worthy winner .

RitaCrudgington · 14/05/2023 00:18

Just turned over to BBC2 and Sam Ryder is playing a medley of Queen hits. If I were Adam Lambert I'd watch my back because Sam is clearly eyeing up his job.

AnyaMarx · 14/05/2023 00:19

Oh I'm a few mins behind !

CherryCokeFanatic · 14/05/2023 00:19

Discusting rigging by the judges. Finland were robbed

It's certainly odd. The opening part was basically 'Winner Takes It All' - subliminal messaging?

ShakeYourFeathers · 14/05/2023 00:20

Right I'm off to bed

Thank you so much, Eurovision is made so much more entertaining with these threads and they have me on stitches.

Thank you and goodnight

People often ask why the other Eurovision countries hate us. I don’t think they do. The big five go straight through to the final without having to qualify in the semi-finals.

So, we often end up in the final with a song/performance that would have seen any other country knocked out beforehand. Germany is also in the big five and like us, they often end up near the bottom of the leaderboard.

EsmaCannonball · 14/05/2023 00:20

Maybe not in the spirit of Eurovision but I just want to say that Putin and his cronies are absolute bastards. What a cruel and cynical thing to do.

TiddlyToes21 · 14/05/2023 00:20

Did anyone else think that Graham Norton looked a bit serious at times? Maybe a bit stressed by the enormity of it all. Mel was great but I missed him commentating.

AnyaMarx · 14/05/2023 00:21

I didn't think it was rigged - Sweden had a really strong song and performer .

As did Isreal.
Australia.
Many were better than our entry this year .

Sam Ryder would be great as a queen front man !

Yes, plus the songs have a chance to grow on the audience between the semis and the final.

Mel didn't really know when to talk and when to keep quiet, I thought.

I also really liked the chech?? Whatever they changed their name to ? The girl group with great harmonies....

Liked them

EarthFireAirWater · 14/05/2023 00:22

Disappointed all in all with the results.
Finland had more going for them than Sweden.

90stalgia · 14/05/2023 00:23

I liked Serbia but perhaps that was just me.

I also thought Germany should have got more than whatever piddling number they finished on at the bottom. It wasn't marvellous but it was far from the worst song tonight.

Appalonia · 14/05/2023 00:24

Enjoying Sam Ryder on BBC2 right now. He's singing both Queen and Beyonce songs!

I liked them too. I also liked Moldova and thèir choreography.

RitaCrudgington · 14/05/2023 00:24

The juries were never going to vote for Finland - it's exactly the sort of performance that goes down big with the viewing public but not with the "excellence in songwriting" juries.

EsmaCannonball · 14/05/2023 00:24

Europe don't hate us; we pretty much get the result we deserve every year. If we put in the effort we do well. Our biggest problem seems to be sending people who can't perform on the big stage.

90stalgia · 14/05/2023 00:25

My result would have been:

Norway
Finland
Serbia
