I've only just seen this:

Its a sign language version of Cha Cha Cha...

That is truly awesome.

Oh that is brilliant! Saw a few versions scrolling down that thread, all amazing.

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 20/05/2023 08:43

That was brilliant. Want to see the full version with that man signing it.

Spudlet · 20/05/2023 10:13

So the current Eurovision additions to my playlist:

Cha Cha Cha (I mean, obviously)
Tattoo - it grew on me in the end. Good for caterwauling along to when alone in the car (poor dog being subjected to that…)
Queen of the Kings - a very good earworm to have when running, it turns out
Solo - I just quite like it
Due Vite - because I can caterwaul in two languages, doncha know
I Wrote a Song - I have a disco remix version that I quite like

That’s it so far…

Spudlet · 20/05/2023 10:14

No, it’s not! I also have ‘Poe Poe Poe Poepoepoe’ on there too!

Spudlet · 20/05/2023 10:15

And Heart of Steel. And that really is it

RedToothBrush · 20/05/2023 10:27

Spudlet · 20/05/2023 10:15

And Heart of Steel. And that really is it

So all of the songs... 😜

Spudlet · 20/05/2023 10:37

RedToothBrush · 20/05/2023 10:27

So all of the songs... 😜

Not far off it 🤪😂

It does speak to how good it was this year though, I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to add so many of the songs before

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 20/05/2023 11:52

I love your list, Spudlet. I'll get back to you with mine later. I think it was a very good year, EV23.

JaneJeffer · 20/05/2023 12:08

Surely everyone else has Daði's Whole Again on their list?

JaneJeffer · 20/05/2023 12:11

This man definitely has a picture in his attic

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 20/05/2023 13:47

Picture in the attic or he must be drinking the elixir of youth!

Daði isn't on the list though ;) okay, just listened to it. Think I'll leave it off my list actually...

I'll spare you my likes because there are a lot of them and some of them are embarrassing...

Favourites:

Latvia: Didn't qualify for the final, but it qualified for my playlist. Excellent. Love this band.
Australia: Top notch. Brilliant. So good. The 1980s revisited. I would go to see them live. I'd say they would be great.
Belgium: Loved Gustaph. Big feel-good factor. Instantly raises my spirits.
France: J'adorrre cette chanson. More LaZara svp.
Estonia: Beautiful song. Loved all of it; music, lyrics, singer. Perfection, really.
Serbia: The coolest and edgiest song of the competition imo. I find it very compelling. Spaavaa....

InWalksBarberalla · 20/05/2023 23:17

I've been listening to Germany a fair bit, can't believe they came last.
They (Lord of the Lost) have done a great cover of Cha Cha Cha.

WeAreTheHeroes · 21/05/2023 05:27

@FuzzyCaoraDhubh - if you want to see Voyager live they have a European tour later this year. Think I'm going to go.

The fact that the BBC now has presenters who like Eurovision rather than just sneer at it has made a huge difference to the experience.

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 21/05/2023 08:30

I'll look it up @WeAreTheHeroes!
I really liked Germany InWalksBarbarella.
They shouldn't have come last. I heard they are going to tour with Iron Maiden.

RedToothBrush · 21/05/2023 09:49

Iron Maiden are well worth seeing in their own right. They aren't my cup of tea normally music wise but they are entertaining.

The speculation for the UK and next year is starting, and it sounds as if there is an awareness that the level of the competition has gone up massively in recent years.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-12106919/BBC-line-Sophie-Ellis-Bexter-Britains-entry-years-Eurovision-Song-Contest.html

The story for me isn't necessarily that Sophie Ellis Bexter (though if they could get her to agree that would be very interesting indeed) is top of their list here. It's that the BBC want to take back the choice of artist.

I've seen Bexter live in the past. She very much is all the things Mae Muller isn't - she can hold a tune and dance for starters...

BBC line up Sophie Ellis-Bexter to be Britain's entry for Eurovision

Sophie Ellis-Bextor, 44, is an established artist with hits such as Murder On The Dancefloor, and she reached a new audience during lockdown with her successful Kitchen Disco videos.

I enjoyed that but liked even more in Finnish sign language, signed by a deaf Finnish rapper called Signmark:

Käärijä - Cha Cha Cha (suomalaisella viittomakielellä)

I know neither Finnish nor sign language (in any language) yet somehow I feel I know what the song was about 😂

timoteigirl · 21/05/2023 15:23

@SoupDragon my exact thoughts when I watched it. His facial expressions are so suited to the lyrics. Even his arm for the cha cha cha part is more relaxed and softer once the lyrics state being drunk!

WeAreTheHeroes · 21/05/2023 17:20

I saw SEB support Take That years ago and realised just how good she was then having not expected very much tbh. It really does feel as though the BBC's attitude to Eurovision has turned a corner.

SheldonsOneWordEurovisionesque · 21/05/2023 22:51

And yes. I know the dance 😉

I wish she’d entered with Hypnotized. I loved it.

marvellous

That's very Eurovision!

That sign language really conveyed the song well without knowing sign language, just so expressive.

OneWorldly4 · 12/05/2024 00:56

Why won't MN let me post on this years thread?

Why were Israel allowed to enter? Genocide being carried out right now.

If they let Israel enter, why ban Russia. They are no different. Shame on you MN. I thought this site allowed free speech
