I've started a new thread already in case I forget to do it. Might not be needed but I think there's only about 50 posts left on the old thread. Shall we say we'll start posting on this one from tomorrow (Friday 5th) ?

This starts Wednesday week on BBC1 (22 March). Anyone want to join me on a thread about it? I saw some episodes of the previous two series but didn'...

Ah ok
thank you. I must’ve missed that episode. Seems a shame.

Yeah apologies ppl, I joined to talk RATW too, love this show! And I don't usually reply to posts ever on here but that one was a bit too incendiary and insensitive, as the many blocking posts show.
Interested to hear some.behind the scenes info on the reunion when I catch up tomorrow, this series I found a few gaps in editing and wonder if they absolutely had to do the fun stuff per episode.

Yeah there was a lot of showing people in “oh no disaster” situations but not ever explaining how they got out of it!

@MNbingo You'd have to answer that tbh, as the person who made the claim in the first place. Unless you think having a biological child by any means, natural too, is a narcissistic act, then accessing a scientific procedure to increase the likelihood simply isn't. This goes for the other myriad ways people work to improve their fertility like IUI, laparoscopic procedures to reduce endo, varicocele procedures, microtese. Comparing a boob job to having a child via IVF though, not much of an argument there as the basis is so flawed.

Regardless of what's said, can we not discuss this issue on this thread?
If you guys want to debate this then take it elsewhere.

Thank you!

Who were the couple that gave Cathy and Tricia a lift at the end? One minute they were on the street and then they were in a random car but it didn’t show how?

Mademetoxic · 10/05/2023 23:24

Rummikub · 10/05/2023 23:19

Why were the brothers eliminated?

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. I loved the first 2 series. And I’ll happily watch a celeb version until the next proper version.

Because they came last in one of the legs of the race.

Rummikub · 10/05/2023 23:25

Thank you. Shame they couldn’t carry on fir the experience.

I'm watching the Reunion programme on BBC1 now. 🌹

What's the reunion programme called? Cannot find it on iPlayer.

Rummikub · 10/05/2023 23:27

It’s currently on bbc1 now

Race the world: the reunion

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 10/05/2023 23:27

What an experience they've all had though. Defines once in a lifetime - I'm very envious

Rummikub · 10/05/2023 23:28

Me too. It really wants to make me to travel.

TheFireflies · 10/05/2023 23:35

It would have been nice in the reunion show to have had some connection with some of the people who’d helped them.

NCTDN · 10/05/2023 23:37

Yes I really hope they all kept in touch with people who helped them.

Sorry to hog the thread, but have had to laugh that the first we see of Kevin in the reunion is getting out of a taxi Grin

Yes that made me laugh!!

DojaPhat · 10/05/2023 23:52

Ladi and Monique should have won. A spectacular pair!

brassbells · 11/05/2023 00:04

Was there any mention on the remaining budget % on the final 3 please at the end?

SwedishEdith · 11/05/2023 00:06

Is there an actual cash prize? Just noticable that T and C both reduced their jobs.

purpleme12 · 11/05/2023 00:30

Yes £20,000

I think it's one of those occasions when a nice long break helps you to see what you are looking forward to going back to and what you're fucking dreading

Z&M were in the car taking them all the way to the final location. M&L had to switch to a cab.

Z&M were first off the ferry with the lorry driver who was right at the front and literally the first one to disembark. L&M had booked a taxi but realised their mistake as they would have to wait with all the foot passengers to disembark so arranged a lift but in a car that was right at the back of the queue to get off ferry.

I wondered that too. Especially since they won it would have been nice to see how they did it! Perhaps the driver didn’t want to be filmed.

I was surprised that they didn’t properly show the times at the end, but maybe the producers wanted us to believe it was closer than it actually was.

Fleabea · 11/05/2023 10:10

I would have been happy for any if the couples to win but very pleased for Cathie and Trish.

I have started re-watching the first series and it feels like a very different programme. I get the feeling that the couples were helped out and given more clues this series (e.g the episode where they had to get on the train which they all seemed to know and they all knew they had to get a ferry in this episode) in comparison to the first series where the couples had to work it out themselves and borrow phones from people to try and arrange jobs for themselves. The first series also required the couples to think ahead and earn money early on in Europe where the pay is better instead of further along their journey where they get paid peanuts in poorer countries.

RaraRachael · 11/05/2023 10:53

I didn't mind if Zainib and Mobeen or Monique and Ladi won so was disappointed when it was the ladies. I didn't mind Tricia so much but found Cathy very annoying.

The editing wasn't great and there were often situations that weren't properly explained.
The thing I enjoyed most rather than the relationship stuff was the spectacular scenery. I've already ordered my Trailfinders Canada brochure but it's so huge I wouldn't have a clue which bits to visit.

slamfightbrightlight · 11/05/2023 10:59

We were team Zainib and Mobeen, just loved them both throughout. Would have been happy with a Ladi and Monique win too, their relationship is lovely and such a contract to Kevin and Claudia. But overall pleased for whoever won.

I echo comments here and said the same to DH last night about there being too much of them all ending up on the same bus/train in this series. It made it a bit dull in parts for me. Much preferred the variety of routes in the previous 2 series.

What’s next I wonder? African continent? India?

Catspyjamas17 · 11/05/2023 11:04

I have really enjoyed this, not really watched it before.

Kevin was annoying and I didn't want them to win. Didn't mind too much about the others but said YES! when it was revealed that Cathy and Trish. Was impressed by their strategy and work ethic throughout and I think they had more of a mental struggle to overcome than the others. Plus they are two women and only a little older than me so I identified with them more than the others.

Catspyjamas17 · 11/05/2023 11:10

And physical - sight loss and fear of heights. I wanted them to win after they managed to get on that cable car a few episodes ago.
