This starts Wednesday week on BBC1 (22 March).

Anyone want to join me on a thread about it? I saw some episodes of the previous two series but didn't watch them all and am kicking myself about it now because it really is such an interesting and beautifully shot reality series.

So am going to watch the whole of the next one - this time in Canada!

Thanks for putting up when this is on, I've been waiting for it. Both the previous series are on iplayer if you want to binge watch them.

I absolutely love this series. I'm away with work next week so the first kind will be on catch up, but then I'm with you!

Theredjellybean · 14/03/2023 21:57

Loved the first two but Canada????
Can't see the challenge as everyone will speak English, signs in English, bus timetables in English etc...hardly difficult to get from one side to the other... really disappointed

Aganta · 14/03/2023 21:57

Thanks for starting this OP!

I loved the first two series. Just hope that putting it in bbc1 doesn't fuck it up.

Aganta · 14/03/2023 22:01

Yeah, good point. One of the nicest things about previous series was their interactions with people when there was no common language - fascinating how you can make that work. I think Canada is pretty coherent too, transport wise. I mean stuff doesn't get cancelled because someone's brother is fucked off about his wife leaving him or his neighbour has invited him to a christening etc. They have extreme weather but they're v organised.

Riverlee · 14/03/2023 22:02

The first two series were superb - good contestants and a fascinating travel programme. The producers chose the participants well, not all wannabe tv personalities but people with a real thirst for adventure.

determinedtomakethiswork · 14/03/2023 22:22

Thank you for letting us know about this! I loved the first two series.

Mouldyfoodhelp · 14/03/2023 22:26

Loved the first two series but Canada is a bit of a disappointment. I wonder if its due to COVID in some way?

QuietlyConfident · 14/03/2023 22:26

Oooh! Looking forward to that.

I can see that after the slightly hairy moments and rescheduling last series they might want to play it safe. I'm not sure their insurers would fancy the obvious Pyramids to Cape Town option, and anything anywhere near Russia is right out, but Canada does seem a bit of a training-wheels option.

Drywhitefruitycidergin · 14/03/2023 22:39

Ooohhh excited for this. I've just re-watched series 1&2 with Dd1 who was also a fan.
Agree on the lack of challenge in Canada but probably easier for insurance!

NotMyDayJob · 15/03/2023 11:49

I think there are some challenges in Canada. We once looked to travel Vancouver to Toronto by train and had to veto it because the passenger trains are treated secondary to freight so there can be massive delays en route if you have to pull over to let freight trains through. I imagine the budget will also make sure it's not too easy and the check points will make for challenges as well. But I do agree it is probably a reflection of the many routes they can't do for safety reasons.

TokyoSushi · 15/03/2023 13:40

Yes, agree that I was a bit disappointed that it was 'just' Canada. But I'll still watch & enjoy it!

LindorDoubleChoc · 15/03/2023 15:12

Well this is odd. I watched S1 ep1 on i-player on my laptop last night. I've got a spare hour this afternoon so just thought I'd watch episode 2 on the TV ... but it doesn't seem to be there? Very strange!

QuietlyConfident · 15/03/2023 15:51

That's odd, it's on my iPlayer.

You didn't accidentally search Race Around The World instead did you? I'm always doing that.

JamPearl · 15/03/2023 15:53

Love this show!!

FiFiWrites · 15/03/2023 15:54

Canada is pretty simple since it has one massive road right through it 🤣

I'm in anyway
