Race Across The World - Series 3

This starts Wednesday week on BBC1 (22 March).

Anyone want to join me on a thread about it? I saw some episodes of the previous two series but didn't watch them all and am kicking myself about it now because it really is such an interesting and beautifully shot reality series.

So am going to watch the whole of the next one - this time in Canada!

So much for his "I'll be ducking and diving" remarks at the beginning, then he takes 2 bloody taxis 😄

16,000 km is daunting. It's mind boggling just how huge Canada is.

We had a trip booked, but it was a Covid casualty. Think we might re-attempt next year.

Ladi and Monique are doing excellently so far I think.

Well I loved that! Mainly for the stunning scenery 😁.

It's a little bit meh that they all ended up on the one and only ferry at the end and only 17 minutes between first and last teams. But I'm sure there'll be a bit more variety in their routes to come.

I haven't got any firm favourites yet.

I'm just on the bit where they're all arriving at the checkpoint.

Loved that episode! The producers definitely started the race the right way round, when there's only one ferry it means its all very equal at the end. Hopefully the final leg will be more unpredictable.

Also signing in to the Mumsnet arrivals book to say: Team Ladi and The Besties are my favourites so far. Taxi dad did not come out well from that edit. Time will tell.

I think Cathie and Tricia will be interesting especially watching how Cathie copes with her sight loss. I think she did brilliantly coming up with a work around when they were log chopping.

Team Ladi & Monique here, followed by the ladies. However I haven't backed the winner in any of the previous series 😂

I said to DH when it started - who is really going to aggravate me this series (there's always a pair who do) - immediately - Kevin & daughter!

Love the whole concept as a show - the first series was brilliant, and the second kept me going through those first few weeks of lockdown.

Which couples won each series?
I don't remember..
I can remember certain couples because I liked them(mum and son, and Robbie and wife for example)though not who won.
I wasn't that interested in this first episode,just lots of hitching lifts.
I'm sure it will improve once I become more invested in the couples.
Scenery is beautiful 😍

I think there was quite a bit of difference in the amount they'd spent, so it was more of a budget than time benefit if they did well this time, which should give the more frugal teams an advantage when they don't need to stop as often to earn money

I love this program, Canada looks beautiful. I’m glad the couples are all normal people not insta influencer wannabes.

One of my absolute favourite shows, I hope it was good!

The first series was a couple of retired teachers that had replaced a couple who had to drop out due to family illness. They were the pair who really grated on me - I was totally team Darran and Alex (father & son) who came second .

Second series was a pair of brothers who were lovely but I was Team Jen & Rob who came second by seconds.

Jen and Rob were robbed!
The brothers sold tech gadgets on the last day to get a taxi (I think), having almost run out of money.

If that's allowed again, then the way to win is have some easily saleable items to get you to the finish line. It's not the spirit of the game though.
