Has anyone else been watching today? I've watched 4 episodes so far. Dated, but loving it

Same, watched the first 3 so far. I don't know when I originally watched it from first time round. I feel like I remember a lot though.

Sodie · 01/02/2023 21:06

Where can you watch it?

cloudcett · 01/02/2023 21:09

Ooh, I used to love Brookside! Where can you watch it?

Columbina · 01/02/2023 21:15

It's on STV

Columbina · 01/02/2023 21:16

There's only the 1st 10 episodes available ATM. Apparently they'll drop 5 new knee a week.

NCTDN · 01/02/2023 22:30

Omg how young do sue Johnston and esp Ricky Tomlinson look!!

NCTDN · 01/02/2023 22:32

I vividly remember watching the first episode. It's so close to where I lived. The close seemed so posh and new then!

Mxflamingnoravera · 01/02/2023 22:35

How do I get STV?

NCTDN · 01/02/2023 22:37

I'm watching it on my iPad - just needed to sign up for free.

Snozzlemaid · 02/02/2023 13:39

If you've got a smart tv there's an STV player app for that too.
Just watching the first episode now.
I didn't watch it in the early days before so looking forward to this and then the later episodes and characters I'll remember.

Awumminnscotland · 02/02/2023 15:44

I came on to see if there was a thread on this. Have just watched the first 2 episodes. So brilliant! Like previous poster I didn't see the early ones, I would have been 11 in 1982 but watched when I was maybe 14 on a black and white TV in my room!

It's like watching my later childhood/teen years being played back to me, especially the bits about going to mass as if its a fashion show (the black tights with white ankle socks!😁)and references to having to do the shop at the big supermarket and less often. I remember the excitement of going to the supermarket( there was a free bus came round our scheme for finefare😄).

Saw my mums unit and Pyrex dishes in Sheila's house and how she dresses reminds me of my mum. And yes I remember thinking the close looked very posh.

And the clobbered round the heads!🤣.

NCTDN · 02/02/2023 15:55

Oh yes the dishes and the teapots!!

balloontrip · 02/02/2023 16:28

I'm loving it already. I used to watch it, maybe from mid - late 80s until its demise, haven't seen the early episodes. It's brilliant.

Snozzlemaid · 03/02/2023 19:11

Is anyone's STV player showing which episodes you've watched?
Mine isn't, so I'm having to work out which episode is the next one to watch.
It's fine at the moment but can see this being very annoying when there are hundreds of episodes.

windyarse · 03/02/2023 19:19

Mine isn't, but I haven't logged in to it so I wonder if that would make a difference?

Snozzlemaid · 03/02/2023 19:31

I'm logged in on iPad and TV but neither show any history of watched episodes.

windyarse · 03/02/2023 19:35

Oh no that's going to be a real pita to keep track

NCTDN · 03/02/2023 20:16

Mine doesn't save even though I've logged in.

RestingMurderousFace · 03/02/2023 20:21

I’m loving the nostalgia of it. Also, how stunning was Sue Johnston, my lord!

NCTDN · 03/02/2023 21:54

I thought that.
Do you think it was deliberate that the opening credits make Liverpool look so miserable? I mean, why didn't they film the city centre on a sunny day instead of in the rain?!

VanillaImpulse · 04/02/2023 00:25

Ah I'm loving it! Seeing the milkman in the morning and all the old fashions

vjg13 · 04/02/2023 07:04

We've still got an old skool milkman!

Bingowingo · 04/02/2023 07:09

That first episode was funny. The milkman drove onto the close and an alarm clock showed it was 7am. He was still there are 7.30am. Slowest milkman in Merseyside!! He was only delivering to about three houses.

torquewench · 04/02/2023 07:26

I agree with you, but that's actually how I remember town looking back then. Also noticed it showed the Anglican cathedral before the hideous student housing estate was built next to it. How that got through planning is beyond me. Oh, hang on a minute ...

Barry Grant tho 😍

windyarse · 04/02/2023 08:26

I'm also surprised at how much of each episode focuses on the driving out/into the close!
