Where can you watch it?

If you have Sky, go to On Demand then Channels. You will see STV there.

Watched all the episodes so far, loving it!!!

NCTDN · 04/02/2023 08:57

I've watched it on my tv by using the search box and typing in brookside. Then stv comes up but you need to register.

Snozzlemaid · 04/02/2023 10:18

My thoughts so far:
Amanda Burton drives likes a lunatic and her husband is a moaning nightmare
Barry Grant is very pleasing to watch
Love seeing what Karen wears - teenage fashion of the time.

x2boys · 04/02/2023 11:23

I have watched all ten episodes so far I have spotted Billy Corkhill as one of Karen's teachers ,Frank Rogers as a friend of "Gavs" Gary Mallet from from " Corrie* " as Karen's dubious boyfriend
And I'm pretty sure a very young Sinbad was queuing up.with Paul.Collins to sign on😂
God the fashions on the women don't half age them!
but Barry Grant 😍

Snozzlemaid · 04/02/2023 11:49

I spotted those two as well but not Sinbad.

x2boys · 04/02/2023 11:57

Snozzlemaid · 04/02/2023 11:49

I spotted those two as well but not Sinbad.

If it was him he didn't say anything he was just in front of Paul Collins in the queue for signing on
and apparently the actor who played Sinbad was an extra before getting a role so it might well have been him😂

TruthRevolution · 04/02/2023 18:24

Glad it's not just me who was 😍 at Barry Grant! 😁

chipsandpeas · 04/02/2023 18:27

i cant wait to rewatch but im gonna wait a good few months so i have a decent chunk of episodes to watch, releasing 5 a week is way to slow imo i could clear that in a night

Episode 1-100 is on you tube!

NCTDN · 04/02/2023 21:29

I'm looking at sheila and it's exactly what my mum would have worn, even the sheepskin mittens!

NCTDN · 04/02/2023 21:31

When I watched them in the 80s I thought Damon was the idol. But I watch them now and am in total agreement with pps about Barry!
Gary Mallett spotted!

Mammut · 04/02/2023 22:28

I’ve just binged 9 episodes. I was 18 in 1992 and watched Brookside from the start. I am loving it. Its social history! I totally fancy different characters now. All the cars are so noisy and so much driving into and out of the close. All the couples constantly snipe at each other. Lots of sexual aggression. Sheila is basically my mum. So much tea drinking, no other fluids drunk. The food looks dreadful. The acting is mostly really good. Its pretty dated and slow moving but the characters are really well observed and I think it stands up.

Helendegenerate · 04/02/2023 22:51

This is a real treat! One of the better soaps imo and a shame it was axed when you think of the tripe being spewed at us and insulting our intelligence with the likes of Corrie and Emmerdale.

I've watched two episodes so far and look forward to the rest. Curly perms and tashes were the thing in the eighties for the men, Paul Usher (Barry) is bald now 😉

vjg13 · 05/02/2023 11:07

I loved Barry Grant then (aged 15) and I still love him now!

bigTillyMint · 05/02/2023 14:52

So many memories - I was definitely watching from the first episode as were all my mates. In fact everyone I knew in Merseyside was watching!
Liverpool was pretty run down in the 8Os (so no wonder you think the city centre looks dismal!) - those new builds were posh. I didn’t even remember the kids in the posh family that moved in - my attention was all on Barry Grant!

NCTDN · 05/02/2023 15:03

I don't remember the ones in no10 - just think of that as the Corkhills house.
Yea Liverpool city centre wasn't exactly posh but it didn't rain all of the time!! The funny thing was that we lived in a new build not far from there which was actually much pusher but as a 10 year old I didn't see it like that!
I'm amazed how much seating there was on the tv in those days. I love how stv has to put that the views and language are those of that era!

x2boys · 05/02/2023 15:08

I was nine when Brookie started ,my Dad used to.watch the omnibus on a Saturday I can,t remember if he watched it from the first episode ,but he watched it from pretty early on ,it was the best soap.for a long time .

RainbowZebraWarrior · 05/02/2023 15:16

Thank you so much for this thread. I'm 51 so Brookie was my era as a kid. I loved it and wish they had never got rid as I didn't like any other soaps.

Anyway, I've been boring myself by watching old Taskmaster this afternoon. Now I have signed up to STV and am off to make a cuppa before starting the mini binge-a-thon.

NCTDN · 05/02/2023 15:38

Enjoy Rainbow. It will really make you reminisceSmile
I've found all sorts of info on the close now. It was auctioned off and all the houses needed pretty much rebuilding, but the people at number 10 reckon they get someone once a fortnight asking to see the patio where Trevor jordache was buried!

Helendegenerate · 05/02/2023 21:50

I watched ep . 3 tonight. Those new build "posh" houses were built with no central heating! Not sure why I am so shocked at that 😮

NCTDN · 05/02/2023 21:56

I was really shocked at the no central heating as well.

NCTDN · 05/02/2023 21:57

Annabelle's husband is so miserable!

Redglitter · 05/02/2023 22:00

I wonder how the poor folk that bought the houses when filming ended feel about the renewed interest in their street

I started watching expecting a nostalgia fest but it surprised me how genuinely good it is.
