My mum had a dress just like the one Sheila wore for new years eve. I thought it was the bees knees!!

I liked Sheila,s dress I thought it was the kind of dress women of a certain age would but for their annual.summer holidays in Spain 😂paul.and Annabel.,s sheepskin jackets remind me of my grandparents, they had his and hers sheepskin jackets

Helendegenerate · 14/02/2023 09:28

I am up to the ep where Terry is featured. I always liked him. A shame his real life problems happened.

NCTDN · 15/02/2023 08:21

Bbq1 · 15/02/2023 09:36

Omg, can anyone get Smtv? I did extra work in Brooky in around 1994/5 and lost the tape so have never been able to show ds or ds.

It's Stv and free to.down load.im.watching it on a kindle fire.

NCTDN · 15/02/2023 11:23

Oh yes I've only got up to episode 25. Now stv gives me the option of 'continue watching' which is good.
I've just realised that my friends had the identical 3 piece suite to the Collins - the cushions were reversible!

Cheshiresun · 15/02/2023 14:24

How do we get episodes 26-30? On the App and on the website it's only going up to 25 atm.

Well Lucy is OTT negative, but starting to mellow a bit where I'm up to. I'm not liking Gav & Pet, they come across as selfish, him more than her.

So many brown & orange furnishings!

Snozzlemaid · 15/02/2023 18:26

They did say they will be releasing 5 episodes a week so I think we'll have to wait until next week for those.

Mangolist · 15/02/2023 19:15

Noooo. Only up to 25. I've finished!! where does it say 'Continue watching'?

Maybe it's your device? Lucky you 😂
but yes regarding the three pieces suite,s my Grandma and Grandad had a similar one to the grants ,and the Collins suite reminded me of my parents suite in the 80,s

I've taken the £3.99 a month ad free sub out. The adverts were doing my head in

On a laptop

Grew up over the water so laughing at the references to the ‘posh’ Wirral. Clearly never been to Birkenhead.

that opening sequence is bleak bleak bleak. Exactly as I remember it. I recall forging through waves of litter as a kid in Liverpool. Liverpool has improved 100%

the acting is so stilted and stagey. Also yes, the swearing and the multiple references to periods. All radical at the time. And new builds with no heating - par for the course. We quickly forget.

Makingupfactstosuitmyagenda · 16/02/2023 21:25

And all the strike talk; simple platitudes, spoken multiple times, no depth
or suspense. I thought a jimmy mcgovern script would have a bit more conviction.

I don't really know Liverpool at all but tbf, most northern cities were a grim shit hole in the 1980,s I grew up.in greater Manchester and I love Manchester but it was grim in the 1980,s
this sounds terrible but the best thing that happened to the design of the city centre was the 1996 bomb they made it into vibrant city it is today

OnTheBoardwalk · 16/02/2023 21:29

@Redglitter ah I dont get any adverts on my sky ap which surprised me

OnTheBoardwalk · 16/02/2023 21:34

@x2boys I agree with you it was the rebirth of Manchester . Some people get upset that the bomb was the start of the rebirth. I was half a mile from it when it went off but totally agree

Makingupfactstosuitmyagenda · 16/02/2023 22:29

@x2boys yes, Manchester was bleak - first visit there for me was late 80’s then next just after the bomb. I was utterly confused about where everything was. Personally, think Liverpool is the more cohesive and architecturally interesting of the two and has got to a better place but others will have their own opinion.

it feels so odd watching these early episodes / really like stepping back to my childhood.

torquewench · 17/02/2023 05:11

Karen wanting a land line phone! Od forgotten just how basic things were in the 80s compared to today's standards.

Karen's nylon quilt - I had one just like it

I'm waiting for Picton Clock to appear in the opening credits. I passed it every day for years on my way to work.

NCTDN · 17/02/2023 08:08

I don't remember when I was young the amount of references to Rainhill where I live. It's mentioned loads!
