Brookside not Nationwide!!

Mangolist · 06/02/2023 09:01

I've watched all 10 and am desperate for the next lot! I lived in Liverpool for a while in 1985 while it was at its peak and we saw Karen at the State nightclub a few times.

lollipoprainbow · 06/02/2023 09:09

Was 8 when it started, loved watching the omnibus on a Saturday afternoon !!

RainbowZebraWarrior · 06/02/2023 11:42

I've also done all 10 of the episodes available and am patiently waiting for the next lot.

Does anyone know when the next episodes are due to drop?

P.S. Also agree about Barry. I always did think there was something about him. Effortlessly Sexy and Nonchalantly Capable is how I shall describe him.

I assumed Wednesday as that was when they dropped the first 10?

Just watched episode 10. Huge excitement as Heather was wearing a dress that I used to have. It was from Next which was hugely trendy at the time. Can’t wait for the next episoto drop.

I used to see her there too.

Tracy Corkhill went to my school, year below me

The State! We used to go there at the start of the 80s. Don’t remember seeing her in there, but it was probably before Brookie started!

Bit of a weird observation..but Annabel collins took her shopping out of a cardboard box. I remember my mum taking the boxes on the bus to finefare. Always took boxes to the supermarket and picked up more when there. Surely this is better than even bags for life? Why dis it change? Is it because less things are delivered in boxes now? Just a random thought..

That's a good point. I used to go with parents to do weekly shop in the 80s. Either Presto or Co-OP. We also took / used cardboard boxes. I think they fitted well into the boot of the car and didn't roll about. At some point, the supermarkets stopped putting boxes out and started baling them up instead. Until recently you could still pick up a fruit or veg box or wine box. My Dad is the only person I know who still does this. He asks for a box if he can't find an empty one on the shelf.

I'm rather enjoying the trip down 80s memory lane. Both with Brookside and in general. Simpler times in many ways. For some reason, I feel like making a scrap book! Can you tell I'm bored while waiting for the next episodes to drop? 😁

x2boys · 08/02/2023 08:29

Yay they have dropped another ten episodes in ,I thought they were only doing five a week from now on ?,that's my viewing sorted for a few days👍

Helendegenerate · 08/02/2023 10:05

Am only 5 episodes in so far but looking forward to seeing the introduction of Jimmy Corkhill.

Imagine or remember the days before mobile phones. You miss your train home from work and can't let your other half know. Big drama 😊 for Heather and her husband. It's all coming back to me now. Grumpy Harry Cross, Sinbad, Tinhead and so many more. Happy viewing!

Yes that's brought back memories of sainsburys having a big fenced off area after the tills with loads of cardboard boxes in there to use for your shopping. Shame they don't still do that as it would be much better than bags to load your shopping into.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 09/02/2023 13:27

Well I have binge watched up to episode 20, so I need to find something else to watch till next Wednesday. I see they also have Take The High Road on there as well. My Nanna used to love that.

NCTDN · 09/02/2023 22:51

What was Roger doing when he kept loading the car? Why was he using a key at the front of the car?

Putting the car alarm on I think.

Christmas Day morning all seems very normal and dull in each house.
And Bobby's going to work to sort out the strike!

It did seem to be an extremely dull.Xmas
what were Annabelle and paul.thinking allowing their 16 year old daughter to.just turn up.at an ex neighbours house for Xmas ,?
I have a 16 year old son I would have been worried sick.
Lucy is extremely irritating but still!

Snozzlemaid · 10/02/2023 13:46

I'm loving how every episode starts with them all in bed waking up and getting breakfast and starting their day.
Wonder how long did they kept that up for?

BertaHoon · 10/02/2023 14:01

Brookie was the best! I don't think my TV is smart though.
Rod the Plod and his insurance scam.
Damon and Debbie.
Barry fit, Terry not so much 🤣
And of course the marvellous Sue and Ricky.

So many characters now still on TV - Jacqui, and Ray Quinn!

I remember a kid winning a prize on children's TV - their answer was wanting to know if Max and Susannah has a soapy ring round their bath 🤣 Years on.

I've got a firestick and no kids for the weekend, can I get STV?!

In watching it on my Amazon fire kindle

theoldcatsmells · 10/02/2023 14:45

I grew up on it and absolutely loved it. I actually sometimes watch episodes on youtube. I moved to Liverpool from London partly based on that show 😂Do one you meff! Love it

RainbowZebraWarrior · 10/02/2023 14:59

Google tells me there are a total of 2915 episodes of Brookside. If STV drop 10 a week, it will take 5 and a half years to get through the lot!
