I've never actually seen Grantchester. Is it set in a church whose roof fund is so woeful the vestry is en plein air? I guess if the vicar looks like James that would be one way to bump up the congregations.

From which I infer that there’s no hope of his reprising the role. Because TLR dies.

Yes I noticed that too @RandomersAssociation which I took to mean that somebody definitely dies. I think it'll be TLR.

@RandomersAssociation I think he'll die too. He kind of has to in a way, but I am torn between whether he'll be the only one who dies or it'll be TLC and CC who take each other out.

I think the CC character is so popular that Sally Wainwright would want to leave the progamme on a vague, even if not your traditional, high.

So, I am wondering if by 'melancholy' it means that TLR is dead, but the trail of devastation is horrendous so even though CC and Ryan are alive there has been a high price for everyone he's affected.

I was looking for thread 4 - such an enduring thread it’s great.
I have just watched series 1 again and now on series 2 forgot how edge of seat series 1 was.
I’ve seen a cross / crucifix ‘home made’ tattoo in the right side of TLR’s neck in series 2 in the prison so asking is it still there in series 3 for all you observant people

I think that you have a good point about CC and Ryan and who knows who else all paying a high price, even if they're alive at the end.

I'm pretty sure her ex husband is a goner, so that will potentially be to the TLR and OCG link, so that's one part of the doom aspect that doesn't mean the death of CC or Ryan.

Going back to S1, when TLR was working for Ashley(?) the builder, was Ashley part of the Knesevic empire or a rival to them? Yes, I know I should watch it again, but I'm watching JN being the nice suitor to Darcy's sister in 'Death Comes To Pemberley'.
