I liked that the police chap said not to presume it was Rob that killed Jo, that he wanted to look into where she got her drugs from and that there was traces of blood all over the house. Faisal obviously didn't do that good a job of cleaning up. And the fact the house has been cleaned would take a lot of time. Time which Rob wouldn't necessarily have as he was at the school working all day.

I have doubts over Marbella. I do think Darius has sprung TLR in order to have him killed. Too risky having a wanted, convicted lifer and his kidnapped son on the payroll.

PrincessScarlett · 29/01/2023 23:16

Darius looked proper pissed when TLR said he was going after Catherine.

Yup, I think it might end up with a line of people wanting to kill TLR.

Someone has got to nick Alison's truck and come a cropper because they don't double declutch - surely!

She lives right by the pharmacy

police find out Pfizer supplied the drugs and go to pharmacy to arrest him.

when the police arrive they actually stumble across the two bumbling crims who have called in to get some more money. They run off and one, or both, get into Alison’s jeep and a car chase ensues…

WinterFoxes · 29/01/2023 23:17

I can't work out why Ryan has no memory of being doused in petrol in a canal boat. You'd think that might put a child off trusting his dad.

Testina · 29/01/2023 23:17

I think it’s written really well to show how Ryan has been manipulated, and also how vulnerable he is to being picked off. Much as we all love Catherine, she’s not been the best “parent” to him. She’s been very real in previous series - really harshly shouting at him, for example. But she left far too much unsaid - really stupid and only realistic for a smart woman because of the depth of the trauma around it. No-one has told him the truth, no-one has given him counselling to process it, then Neil steps in and shows him that actually it’s OK to visit his dad. We all see Neil as wet and stupid, but Ryan is a kid - so an adult has validated that TLR can’t be all bad. Even Ann is saying that TLR was born that way, so there’s a thread running through it all that it’s not TLR’s fault.

Ryan is just 16 - it’s actually far more believable to me that he’d be taken in by TLR, than that he’d plan to turn on him. Turning on him would just be an in-the-moment rejection, refusal to go with him. I think it would be totally unrealistic for him to actively try to set him up.

excelledyourself · 29/01/2023 23:18

In Faisal's flashback, what happened with Joanna's phone? I wasn't really concentrating.

Testina · 29/01/2023 23:09

I don’t think Ryan will do anything big and heroic - he’s just a 16yo kid, and not a very bright one at that. But I think he will reject TLR at some point in the episode and that will be a huge trigger point.

I reckon Beetroot Chopper We Have Fucking Wifi will get fed up of TLR’s bossiness and hold him down with a paring knife to his throat whilst Alison double de-clutches him 👍🏻

I disagree. I think Ryan is underestimated by everyone (and totally distinterested in school). Look how he handled TLR, switching from 'you' to 'we' to get him talking. And when he's actually given the opportunity to speak and someone actually listens to him - his brother in the car - he's articulate, reasonable and objective.

Depends whether they can pinpoint time of death. That's why there was the emphasis on the girls not having seen their mum Monday morning, and Rob telling them not to disturb her while making a show if taking up a cup of tea. And saying she hadn't made any calls since Saturday. They may decide he killed her in the night before Monday morning, and set up an alibi with the girls.

EyesOnThePies · 29/01/2023 23:19

Surely Faisal is a more likely bio father for Poppy? Joanne was having sex with him for drugs. Her hair is much darker than Florence’s, Jo’s or neckbeards’s.

He threw it under the kitchen cupboard, I think.

MrsPutnamNaomiDarling · 29/01/2023 23:20

What's this number plate that may have been written down wrong? Missed that.

Darius looked proper pissed when TLR said he was going after Catherine.

I also wasn't sure if Darius warning TLR off 'fixing' Catherine was friendly 'quit while you're ahead' advice, or more of a threat.

Yep - and there’s already been a change of plan because TLR clearly was expecting to go to a different place to hide.

I think TLR will knife beetroot guy and steal his car. Darius and his gang will be on the hunt for him.

He hid it between some kitchen cupboards. Which seems an odd thing to do.

Yes, I saw it as a bit of a threat that went totally over TLR's head as he is so fixated on his revenge on Catherine.

Testina · 29/01/2023 23:23

WinterFoxes · 29/01/2023 23:17

I can't work out why Ryan has no memory of being doused in petrol in a canal boat. You'd think that might put a child off trusting his dad.

Somebody - forget who? But not Ryan or TLR - said that TLR did that when he thought he was going to die too, and was delerious from septicaemia.

So given Ryan has had multiple prison visits, I would guess that we’re to assume that he has psychopath charmed his way out of that with the same excuse.

Plus, Catherine’s version of parenting Ryan is to leave him in the dark. So I think she’d have taken, “least said soonest mended” approach and never really focused on that with Ryan. He was really young and the incident will have flashed by, and she may never have told him just his close to being murdered he really was.

PriamFarrl · 29/01/2023 23:23

Minimalme · 29/01/2023 23:05

Anyone else think Ryan will set TLR up and shop him?

He's been given a whole lot of truths in this episode.

I think so. I think Ryan is feeling very torn after getting rejected from all sides but he will do the right thing. It’ll look like they are going to go off together but he will have given a tip off.

excelledyourself · 29/01/2023 23:24

And did we see him do that in the original episode? I don't think so? I know we saw it flashing when Catherine called it, but not how it came to be there.

FlyRobinFly · 29/01/2023 23:25

I love Catherine’s quirky ringtone. A glimpse of the witty Catherine that used to exist before she gradually got worn down.

I think he is t academic like the rest of the family so they probably do underestimate him.

CuriousMama · 29/01/2023 23:28

Ryan showed how caring he is when he said imagine being born like that? About TLR.

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 29/01/2023 23:29

OMG!

TLR in a chintz bedspread and a cellular blanket 😍 not quite as hot as the cycling gear but I still would
