I think series 1 has to be my favourite. The killing of Kristen was awful. I absolutely love Sally’s writing. It’s not over the top but it is honest.

Pl242 · 29/01/2023 08:07

@ILikeBiscuits my post was nothing more than a reference to some being shocked that Catherine still has the same scarf 6/7 years later. Given I’ve been wearing mine for over 8 years I think that’s normal (or Catherine and I are equally slovenly). Alas mine is nothing like her’s, just plain shop-bought number.

RandomersAssociation · 29/01/2023 08:23

Will slightly pissed off retired but returned to work check in copper lady actually get to throw this leaving do with her £2k & 8p? Will there be strippers? Joyce

Will lovely but slightly unhinged pharmacist get found out? Faisal Bhatti

Who will go to Eastern European Thug Number 1's wedding if everyone is too busy collecting protection money & starting fights in court? Ivan

Halo

(Should have used quote function! So much for trying to be helpful!)

It was so good @diddl best thing ever on RTÉ

I couldn't watch it. Bad enough reading about the real gang warfare in the news/ watching it on tv news.

the80sweregreat · 29/01/2023 09:04

I dug out a scarf I've had for well over ten yearsin august.
I give them a wash in the summer time and there they wait in the cupboard. Same with hats and my winter coat ( dry cleaned )
Maybe Clare knitted her a new one between seasons ?

Lordofthebutterfloofs · 29/01/2023 09:07

I have had the same coat for 3 years now. It's still functional and I'm happy with it no reason to change.

I do sometimes have new scarves hats gloves. Mainly because someone in my house borrows them and then bloody loses them. 😂

the80sweregreat · 29/01/2023 09:08

Id have thought that Catherine would have phoned the school to see if Ryan had turned up
He could have phoned himself in sick I suppose
However, she did say ' I don't care what he does ' ( paraphrasing ) so maybe she is so fed up with all of them she got past caring what he did at that point.

I think 3 is a teenager in cost years.

Series 2, possibly garter stitch.
Series 3, stocking stitch.

I'd say the brighter one is a K1P1 rib.

The other, not sure, it's a chunkier wool though.

Tigresswoods · 29/01/2023 10:17

Thanks @RandomersAssociation I had no idea of Joyce's name! 🤷🏼‍♀️

I need answers to these questions!

I agree. There’s not a lot to wear out in a scarf, unless it’s something like wool and the moth gets it.

ILikeBiscuits · 29/01/2023 11:06

Yes, K1P1 rib is more likely although more tedious to knit.

I will be watching closely this evening 😀

ILikeBiscuits · 29/01/2023 11:46

Interview with Rhys Connah who plays Ryan. No spoilers there.

“A decade on, the actor watched the old episodes properly in preparation for series three. "It's very dark, isn't it?" is his verdict.”

storminabuttercup · 29/01/2023 11:46

Not sure if it's been said but neckbeard on Sunday brunch this morning.
I think I'm over invested as I just switched on and was shocked Simon and Tim would have such a horrid man on 😃

CuriousMama · 29/01/2023 11:56

Emotionalsupportviper · 28/01/2023 21:31

Agree about all of these actors. Timothy West and Prunella Scales' sons are fab actors, too - and I love Rory Kinnear, son of Roy.

Have you seen Bank of Dave?

(Goes off to start old film stars thread)

EsmaCannonball · 29/01/2023 11:59

My antipathy to Tim Lovejoy is so strong, so strong, that it would test my allegiance to Strictly should he ever appear on it. Can't watch that interview.

I have seen the little clip of tonight's episode that has been released, and it has given me more theories about what might happen, but ........ keeping quiet.

storminabuttercup · 29/01/2023 12:05

Ooh there's just played a clip. Shock

Inhibitor · 29/01/2023 12:07

Posted today by the Piece Hall 😂 Sally Wainright has done wonders for the profile of Calderdale

@EsmaCannonball
i took a photo of the TV screen one day when his sidekick was preparing raw fish they did an upclose shot and his fingernails were really dirty underneath and I sent it to channel 4 attached to a complaint (I was bored I admit) and they replied the SAME DAY 😭

TwoMonthsOff · 29/01/2023 12:17

@EsmaCannonball
if I remember it was a chef with a Liverpool Accent

BIWI · 29/01/2023 13:43

My post about Neckbeard/Joanna and domestic abuse was clumsily worded, and I apologise unreservedly if it triggered anyone. I know we've seen him abuse her, but I was wondering if we'd learn more about their relationship than we've already seen. Thinking about possible twists and turns in the storyline.

Definitely not an attempt by me to minimise DV or suggest any kind of victim-blaming.

Sorry if that was what came across. Flowers

Quote of the day on Mumsnet
"I think 3 is a teenager in coat years."

So true @MrsPutnamNaomiDarling

AutisticLegoLover · 29/01/2023 14:23

My link to the series:

The barber who cut his hair in prison is the son of the hairdresser who permed my hair all through the 90s and used the cut my hair as a baby. He was cutting my mum's until a few years ago and did my hair for my I'll-fated wedding. Small world.
