I think that because Claire used to be an addict, works with addicts and is in a relationship with someone who is a recovering alcoholic she firmly believes in the power of people to change and reform. This means that she always sees the best in people and is much more of an optimist than Catherine. In previous series where Catherine has seen Ryan acting out as proof that he is going to turn out just like TLR Claire has been the one who has always believed Ryan is basically good.
The point Catherine made about the chance of TLR influencing Ryan seemed to hit home though.
I thought Catherine was very restrained talking to Ryan. I think the fear of him turning out like TLR is more or less gone. She’s left with her terrible grief and PTSD from Becky’s suicide. She doesn’t seem able to tell Ryan about what TLR did to Becky. I think that she fears what learning that he’s the result of rape could do to him.
I’m not that convinced by Faisal murdering Joanne. He doesn’t seem the type to get violent. Rob will get the blame initially - if he doesn’t have an alibi. Won’t he be at school though? The girls aren’t there so it must be during the school day and they’ll be able to work out the time of death. Plus Faisal opened and shut the back door before he put his gloves on.
The irony of “kindness” being on the wall as a murder is plotted and executed.
