I am like this with any Harlan Coben series on Netflix. One minute they are doing a chase through Hale and the next minute they are in Stockport via Wigan 🤣

I’ve just watched episode 2 again.

I don’t think the parking ticket thing will come to anything. I think it was just highlighting Catherine’s urgency of the chase/follow.

I noticed when she took the box of old kitchen equipment round to Alison’s new flat, she parked on the pavement. This was after asking neckbeard if he’d driven on the pavement the day before - when Ryan was trying to get her to arrest him. She’s obvs very stressed and got a lot on her mind. Bigger fish to fry as they say.

I can see Alison becoming a close friend.

Ryan does remind me of the teenage lad from the Royle Family. The way he talks and his body language. A goofy teenager. He’s clearly fond of Catherine - with the kiss and the, ‘I love yous.’ I’m starting to wonder if he’s plotting something against TLR.

I also noticed the not buying a parking ticket. So it stood out to most people

But I think they'd have made more of it if it was to be A THING. Like Catherine looking at the machine, checking pockets for cash and shrugging. I mean police may have a badge like a gp does "in tv land" to avoid this.

There are many rumours about David Jason that probably won’t surface until after his death

Ryan is lovely, the way he asked Catherine if he could come with his on her drive to the Himalayas. I thought that was very sweet. He obviously adores his grandma, so obviously isn’t falling for whatever horseshit TLR is no doubt feeding him about Catherine.

@jibbe, there’s an ex police detective who was involved in uncovering Jimmy Saville and he said there’s another very famous figure who they’ve tried to bring down but it’s likely it won’t come out until he’s died and there’s a lot of speculation that it’s David Jason. I’d be sad but unsurprised. Doesn’t feel like there’s a lot of others who it could be. I also wonder if anything will ever come out about David Walliams.

There's a good podcast on bbc sounds called Obsessed with...Happy Valley with Isy Suttee. Quite fun to listen to. Apologies if its already been mentioned.

@AlmondBake @Greatly someone referred to David Jason in Frost as another police drama that is not true to real policing and then someone else said they didn't like him. That is the only connection!

Nothing - there was just a minor de-rail when myself and another poster who was married to a copper had a chat about the non-reality of 60 year old overweight, unfit coppers chasing and bring down 20 year fit-as-eff criminals, and obviously Frost came up as a prime example, and I mentioned that I didn't care much for DJ and the other poster did like the character as he reminded her of someone she worked with and then we got back on track.

Yes you are being very unfair if you have no reason to suggest this other than your 'spidey senses' and your 'radar'.

I've read the rumours, could be completely without foundation.
But I read an interview with him recently where he complained Nicholas Lyndhurst is no longer in contact with him. Which could be because NL has seen a side to DJ that he doesn't like, or could be because NL is in a state of deep mourning for his son and not up to reaching out to ex colleagues. At the very least that suggested an arrogance on DJ's part, that other people should be making the effort to contact him, and a lack of understanding of what it is like to be a bereaved parent.
