I know there are a number of threads now about series 3 but came back to this one to say I have now rewatched series 1!
Only 6 episodes, so not the problem of time I thought it was going to be, to get up to date by New Year.
I had forgotten (the same as I did with the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) the level of violence against women, not just shown but lurking at the edges of women's lives.
And had not remembered enough of the plot so I was able to watch thinking, oh no, what will happen next.
But I'm really embarrassed that I had no memory of the sister, who after all is a major part of the storyline.
In some ways I find Sally Wainwright's writing almost signalling this next bit will break your heart, but it is so convincing it does! There aren't many dramas that show women's lives in this way. Nor in fact the life of those on the margins.
So I'm going to watch silly frivolous festive shows over the weekend, and then prepare myself for series 2.
