Why can't I join the dots like this?

I was thinking more along the lines that she is a very well known actress (I've also seen her in Line of Duty and Unforgotten) who I recognised as that actress in the last series (although her name completely escapes me) but she didn't seem to me to be the same actress in this series. And she was only covered in blood and brain for a few seconds.

She's one of those actresses I really like and notice a lot, but I don't even know her name.

Susan Lynch - she has great presence.

Susan Lynch has a famous actor brother too, John Lynch, he’s been in a ton of stuff including The Fall.

Susan Lynch was also married to DI 'Dot' Cottan from Line of Duty. Sure I read they split up though.

He was punching above his weight, IMHO. I can remember thinking that he must be one of these blokes who are much more charismatic IRL than on screen.

Susan Lynch was in Bodies, written by Jed Mercurio. Much better than Line of Duty (which I did enjoy but found rather silly). Warning - Bodies is very graphic and probably not an advisable watch if you are pregnant.

Bodies was excellent - but to call it "disturbing" would be an understatement.

Bodies was so good. I couldn't watch LoD. Thought it was crap.

Yes, Daisy. I remember that in series 2, Daniel admitted he was shagging his ex whilst Lucy was giving birth in hospital, so maybe Daniel isn’t allowed to see her. I don’t think Catherine would have the emotional capacity to get involved with it on top of everything else.

Great thread. A minor point but it's bugging me - Clare drove to Sheffield. I thought she couldn't/ wasn't allowed to drive. In previous series Catherine was ferrying her around, picking her up etc. Or have I misremembered?

Clare was fishing for a lift home the other night , why didn't she drive down to Catherine's if it's a walk up a hill / dark when she leaves etc?

She did. Is the car Neil's? Did he have one previously?
