Great thread. A minor point but it's bugging me - Clare drove to Sheffield. I thought she couldn't/ wasn't allowed to drive. In previous series Catherine was ferrying her around, picking her up etc. Or have I misremembered?

Maybe that’s changed in the 7 years since, they should’ve established why though

Clare was fishing for a lift home the other night , why didn't she drive down to Catherine's if it's a walk up a hill / dark when she leaves etc?

Maybe Neil had the car?

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/01/2023 10:00

Susan lynch was in a thread I did about 4 woman who had a secret /murder and she was in the police and rode a bike

Possibly gay in it

I don't R.E.M. her in bodies but that was very good !!

TottersBlankly · 12/01/2023 10:16

Unforgotten, @Blondeshavemorefun ?

storminabuttercup · 12/01/2023 10:17

Pretty sure Claire was driving by series 2

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/01/2023 10:38

Well done @TottersBlankly

Yes she went to pick Catherine up after she'd met Nev and Anne.

'Well sticking my neck on the line I still don't think it is Claire and Neil. They didnt show Neil and Ryan going in to the Prison (which would not be in such a built up/shopping area that they were dropped off in would it?!) and if it was them then there would have been pictures from CCTV showing it was them visiting with Ryan. Catherine's boss very clearly only showed her the name's on a list. Didn't mean anything.'

Did seem strange, no 'HMP prison Sheffield' sign and i didn't think they were situated next to the local shopping centre and Costas, although a pp has said they can be. I missed the shots of high walls and checkpoints

I suppose they didn't show them entering to keep up some of the wondering and suspense. I'd have followed Ryan, not Claire though if it was me.

I don't know, it must be them but seems such a stretch.

Will we have the court room breakout courtesy of the OCG next week?!

The prison they showed was Wakefield prison. Claire then drove around the corner and was in the centre of Halifax! Very confusing if you know the areas.

AlmondBake · 12/01/2023 12:08

Annoyingly I caught the tail end of a trailer for next week's episode. Be careful if you don't want any spoilers!

the80sweregreat · 12/01/2023 12:14

I thought all they went to Sheffield ? We saw Ryan and Neil head towards a prison.
( sorry , I've never been to Halifax or Leeds or Sheffield !)

People are location spotting! So "Sheffield prison" is Wakefield i real life. The "Police Station" is the defunct leisure centre, various cafes have been used

(And theterrace houses are a very common Halifax sight. )

PuttingDownRoots · 12/01/2023 12:18

Have they use the Piece Hall at all yet? Would make an amusing chase scene.

the80sweregreat · 12/01/2023 12:18

It seems that TLR is going to try and escape ? Maybe ? It had that feeling to it , although I am still reeling from that tiny phone ! ( not a spoiler here , I've no idea)
I know smart watches are small , but I've never seen a mobile phone that small before !

I imagine there's not much call for them except for in prisons. Considering how they get them in there they need to be tiny.

the80sweregreat · 12/01/2023 12:46

It's Clever how they are smuggled into prisons

jaicobain · 12/01/2023 12:54

I used to work in a Vodafone shop and we’d have lots of folk coming in looking for pay-as-you-go tiny phones like TLR had. They were usally on bail awaiting their sentencing freely admitted they planned on smuggling the phone into prison with them. We always had to serve them, no questions asked as long as they passed the credit and ID check, and they did always seem to.

jaicobain · 12/01/2023 12:57

What they were doing was legal, buying a phone. The fact that they admitted they were smuggling it into prison wouldn’t have been justification for not serving them, as they hadn’t committed a crime yet nor would be at any point in the sales process.

jaicobain · 12/01/2023 12:59

One customer had his sentencing later that day, I’m dread to think where he…um…hid the phone.

jaicobain · 12/01/2023 13:06

They were always very pleasant, friendly folk as well! Of course I never asked why they were going to prison.

Was that the first series of The Pact?

It was excellent! Sheila Hancock played her total cow of a mother.

Emotionalsupportviper · 12/01/2023 14:06

Actually - not sure is wasThe Pact, but Sheila Hancock was her mother IIRC. Wasn't she one of 5 police cadets, one died and the others covered it up? All except her left the force?

Wisterical · 12/01/2023 14:17

@Emotionalsupportviper that was in a series of Unforgotten I think, loved that programme (but not the ending).

TokyoSushi · 12/01/2023 15:00

Now you've all led me off down a rabbit hole looking up tiny phones on Google!
