Every series something makes me sad... The two ladies reminds me of my DP dieing almost five years ago.. I was meant to stay the night with him at the hospice but he didn't seem too bad so I went home.. I got the call along with his children in the middle of the night to say he had gone... I wish I had had the chance like that lady did to be with him.. 😢 😢

There is already a thread on this years series! Not keen on the new nun. She doesn't behave at all like a nun would have then or now. Especially the lying.

Also can't believe Lucille got off Scot free for waking out on a patient in advanced labour. She should have been disciplined by the equivalent of the NMC at the time.

I thought it was a good episode. I want to like the new nun, but am really surprised that she would lie so blatantly. I will miss Sister Frances as she was one of my favourite characters.

(I also can't see another thread about this series, just one about the Christmas special).

I really liked Sr Hilda as well. I'll miss her. Found the whole thing with Trixe meeting Fiona's parents a bit odd.

I can't find another CTM thread.

Why has Sister Francis been taken out- she was excellent? I liked Sister Hilda too. They had just become established and were really developing. Sister Francis could have been the strongest character in the programme.

I am not keen on the new nun- seems unlikely to me that Sister Julienne (who always takes the moral high road ) would have allowed her to keep the scooter she lied to have Matthew buy for her.

I am finding Trixie unbearable with all her posh wedding planning - bit like she did when she was engaged to Tom. She has aged suddenly and become a total cliche.

Matthew is curiously bland and unconvincing and I don't understand why he spends his life hanging around Poplar and Nonnatus House.

Nurse Anderson is annoying me with her depression and continual despair. She is also a cliche.

Nurse Corrigan has suddenly become almost the main character and I don't find her interesting. Another cliche.

I miss: Sister Francis, Sister Evangelina, Barbara and Tom , Chummy and Sergeant Noakes.

I wonder what happened to Miranda Hart- she seems to have disappeared into thin air. Never hear or see her in anything these days.

I loved it. DH and I both cried at the woman dying. Of course DH doesn’t like it or watch it you understand, he just happens to be in the room at the time, every time.

I see pink and orange have replaced teal.
Lucille seems to be the keeper of the lamp that was in every single flat.

Trixie looked very different tonight, not sure why. It all felt a bit uncertain to me. Hopefully it will pick up.

She’s to be their grandson’s step mother, so not quite so weird. Though I always felt he jumped straight to Tricia after she died in a sort of desperate for someone to mother his kid kinda way. He doesn’t live in the real world at all.

Tonight's episode was ok. A slow start for the series but I suppose as always it needs to build the image and setting of the series.

I am not a fan of the new nun, surely you can't be a dishonest nun!! I mean is she lying about believing in Jesus for free full board and lodgings 🤣

I’m so used to all the foreshadowing in episodes I’m leaping to so many conclusions.

In the Christmas special Susan’s mum said she’d been having X-rays so I thought that might cause something to go wrong with her pregnancy or labour.

And then in todays episode they were talking about the new nun lying, and then she was helping the mother and saying how many labours she’s attended. I thought she might be lying about being trained and the birth would go horribly wrong!

Maybe they should hire me as a script writer

There were nuns in the 60's with scooters. It was in a magazine I had once. But they'd never have had the brass neck to demand one. What happened to all the other nuns that used to be in chapel but never appears as characters. I used to love CTM but it's had its day!

Watched the Christmas special but not watched the new series yet. The doctor and his wife annoyed me alot. Can't abide Trixie and her fella these days and why did they get rid of Sister Hilda? It has definitely lost it from the early days. I agree with PP; would love to see Tim the doctor's son go off the rails and join the Manson family or something !

Every time Sheila appears, the song "Like A Puppet On A String" pops into my head. Because she minces about exactly like a puppet on strings! Drives me crazy.

I thought that was a good episode, less saccharine and back to the gritty reality of the original stories. I can't stand Trixie and Matthew though.
