Who will be victorious?

OP posts:
EdieLedwell · 22/12/2022 22:51

It was such a satisfying end. Claud was completely caught up in it too.

Wilf got some redemption with his final words (didn't really believe them), but they immediately forgave him.

Perfect telly.

Blossomtoes · 22/12/2022 22:51

I’m really going to miss it.

@Romeiswheretheheartis agree that Wilf was not at all gracious. He called Kieran a prick and then threatened not to speak to the others if they voted for him. This is what gave him away. He was getting away with being over emotional the whole time but in the end it was the undoing of him.

Yes that was hilarious. If he’d kept his cool he might still have got away with it, but as soon as he said he’d never speak to any of them again, it was over for him. Over-acting and unpleasant threats which undermined his ‘good guy, low key’ image. Fascinating insight into the psychology of fundraisers 👀

Wilf played it brilliantly for a long time but he wouldn’t accept less than 100% and that greed ended it for him. He should have stuck to his deal with Kieran and they’d both have got £50k each.

Until today I wanted Wilf to win as he worked so much harder than all the others, but I’m very happy for Aaron and his mum 🥰 (Not really sure Meryl or Hannah deserve the money as much as some of the others did but 🤷‍♀️)

Shesasuperfreak · 22/12/2022 22:57

I changed my mind 3 times but finally I wanted Wilfred gone.

Maybe a remnant from a religious upbringing

I guess; I remember it being a big deal at my CofE primary school. It doesn’t mean anything more than, “I promise” or “I guarantee”. I mean, nobody is going to be struck dead.

I know they won't actually be struck dead, but I don't like people saying they want it to happen if they're lying, when they're lying. If my husband said he wanted me struck dead if he was lying, and was lying, he would find himself struck with a frying pan.

I’m with you on this. Ditto on making promises that are lies/that you can’t keep. Unpleasant

Oher · 22/12/2022 23:00

The producers really messed up not showing more of the players’ reactions. I didn’t wanna watch them squeal in a helicopter or splosh in the lake, I wanted to watch more of them shocked saying “But how can it have been Wilf?!”

And each episode they really should have showed a post-banishment quick interview with each banished player where they get told who the traitors are and, ideally, shown a clip of the traitors discussing them and making their decision… Now that would be good tv!

BuzzBeeEmoticon · 22/12/2022 23:00

To the person who said watch the Australian series (I saw the comment as I was catching up and now I can’t find it again!) where did you watch it please? Smile

WouldJudasLeaveIt · 22/12/2022 23:00

I also hate "swear on xxx's life".

RedToothBrush · 22/12/2022 23:00

The other thing in the final scene is Wilf goes to the other three

"I know what I am and what you are" or words to that effect. He doesn't say "I'm a faithful" at that final crucial moment.

Its right before the vote to end the game and I suspect Hannah and Aaron spotted it too.

I was a big tell.

I think part of me feels for Wilf as he was set up to be the baddie by the format of the show, and I thought his crossing Alyssa and Amanda was ultimately reasonable in being protective as both had blown their cover by poor decisions at that point. His treatment of Kieran was different and was straight up lying to his face in a bloody obvious fashion and it was clear Kieran was aware of it, yet Wilf persisted with it. It was actually painful the running backwards and forwards out of the pool room. And then his reaction to Kierans bomb shell and his attitude at the fire pit, did make me think 'na, I don't think you should win'.

Tbh I think they should change the rules next year so that anyone who votes to end the game can only do so once. So Meryl effectively exits the game at that point, and either wins a share of the money if there's no traitor or loses it because there is. Thus it would have been just Arron and Hannah who won, because they correctly guessed and Meryl should have lost it for being wrong.

Meryl getting the money actually annoys me, because she was too brain dead to clock it at the death when even Aaron managed it.

ReneBumsWombats · 22/12/2022 23:01

Seems I'm not the only one.

HarlanPepper · 22/12/2022 23:02

Wilf's final words were such a crock. He was so happy the faithfuls had won and he was free? OK then, so if he had won, he'd have forfeited all his prize money? Sure, Jan. At least be honest when the game's up. What a weasel.

It was on a streaming service 😬 (bflix).

I'd like to see that now, but I don't think I'd want to watch it while the game is ongoing. They're supposed to be dead/exiled in-game - that means we don't see them again. It would spoil the immersion for me.

Oher · 22/12/2022 23:04

ButtonSister · 22/12/2022 22:23

Kieran didn't so much throw Will under the bus as stop 3 others throwing themselves under it.

Yeah what was pretty funny really is that Kieran never wanted to be a traitor, was forced into it, and stayed loyal by betraying the traitor. All planned by the producers I’m sure. Wilf would definitely have won if the producers hadn’t forced him to recruit even though he’d been choosing not to.I think the producers decided that they wanted the faithful to win.

Agree Kieran’s behaviour didn’t seem in spirit of the game but I reckon the producers gave him a nudge / manipulated him.

Oh yes good point. Perhaps they’ll show it later in a follow up interview. 🙏

ReneBumsWombats · 22/12/2022 23:06

I suppose there was more manipulation and engineering than we might realise, to get such a good ending. But I don't care. It's entertainment. Bloody good.

The cast all seem to be on good terms with each other, judging by their social media.

This definitely! Would make it more satisfying.

Must be strange if you're a faithful and watching all the footage now, seeing the discussions about who to murder.

What it proves, although it should have been clear, is that being murdered is frequently a compliment. All the smart people get murdered because they're threats. Or you're very popular and the traitors want to mess with people's heads, or know you won't be banished.

I think they sort of knew this. They were disappointed to be out of the game but nobody had the same reaction to being murdered as they did to being banished. They knew it was never personal when the traitors did it.

kc431 · 22/12/2022 23:10

Yep, I think it wasn’t really fair Will had to force someone to become a traitor when at that stage in the game no-one wants that. He would have done much better on his own - the producers basically either didn’t want him to win or thought he was doing too well so decided to make him recruit.

scotsbud · 22/12/2022 23:16

I wonder how it would have panned out if the round table votes were done in secret. That might make people even more suspicious of each other.#

I stiil can't get this "i'm 100% faithful" or even worse "i'm a milion % faithfu" someone said

Lentilweaver · 22/12/2022 23:18

The stupidest thing was when one of the women said " He can't be a traitor; he has children." Was that Hannah?

I hope in S 2 they introduce some brainy challenges so that it is in the interest of the traitors to keep some of the brainy contestants, not the thickest.

I was thinking that if I was on the show I'd speak up and be like How About We Stop This Percent Crap, because everyone can say it and it proves nothing
