Why would you hope this rather than that they get their acts together and live decent lives?

Because if you've ever encountered people like this you'll know the chances of them doing a 360 is as low as a snake's belly.

DeeofDenmark · 29/11/2022 22:13

@TitsInAbsentia but if you’re going to hope for something…

I take your point but it’s a 180. If you turn 360 degrees then you end up in the same position as you started (so same pattern of offending in your scenario). 180 degrees points you in the opposite direction.

TitsInAbsentia · 29/11/2022 22:18

Oops! Maths mind not engaged, it is indeed a 180!

Violashift · 30/11/2022 00:04

My exes divorce cost 10k wasn't even for that much money. So his case probably cost loads more.

stillvicarinatutu · 30/11/2022 02:12

As a cop I just watched this and I'm fucking livid that the real victim here got 22 months while the scrotes got away with fuck all.

This is why I'm sick of being a police officer - the courts are a fucking joke.

Toddlerteaplease · 30/11/2022 02:34

I think one of both of the scrotes, was not wearing a helmet. surely that will make it more difficult for them to sue for the injuries. As the head injury could have been less sever had he been wearing one.

SkinnyFatte · 30/11/2022 06:51

So Adam committed an offence but he didn't deserve a custodial sentence. He's on a tag after 7 months so that says loads about his threat to society. The court got that badly wrong. And yes, the two scrotes should have been put in prison, injured or not, pleading guilty or not. They started this series of events.

crochetmonkey74 · 30/11/2022 07:45

Hmmm don't know what to think of this one.
Definitely think that the burglars got off too lightly but also feel that Adams behaviour was dangerous.
I am another one who was sort of brought up short by the termination thing. It seemed like a bit of a 'top trumps' moment and it may well have been the editing but it came over on the programme as because they will have less money, they can't have a baby. It just seemed really short sighted and a massive decision for a few months of relative hardship compared to what they were used to. I have no problems with the choice of a termination, I've had one myself. It was more the way he delivered the news, sort of cold and a 'one up' where in reality, they could have worked it out.

hollyjolls · 28/11/2022 22:20

"To be fair I'm at odds with everyone on the thread - I thought he was wrong to go chasing after them*."

Yes I agree I also think he was in the wrong. He could of easily killed an innocent person.

The two that tried to break in are utter scrotes and deserve a prison sentence BUT Adam was absolutely in the wrong. You can’t take things into your own hands and not be willing to accept the consequences. He made the decision to chase after them, he caused the accident, they were injured, that’s GBH.

20-30 k upwards 😩😩

Ricco12 · 30/11/2022 08:13

I can't understand how people think the termination wasn't justified

It took over a year for him to go to court, which meant baby would of been born. He was told it was highly likely they were going to jail. They had spent all there savings. They already had two children, when he goes to jail that would leave the mother, a single mum, unable to work with no income from her husband or savings to fall back on. How exactly is she expected to pay the mortgage and all the other bills with no income..along with the stress of 3 children to provide for.

I absolutely would of done the same thing in there shoes.

thisisasurvivor · 30/11/2022 08:52

None of us should be judging

He was talking about the total impact on all aspects of their lives

If only he had not got in that car

UniversalAunt · 30/11/2022 08:53

it’s important to keep in mind that Adam was found guilty at trial by a jury of his peers - that is people like you & me who are randomly selected to serve on a jury, people who share the same indignations, concerns & sense of justice as we expressed on this thread. It is people like us who heard all the evidence submitted - far far more than the edited interpretation of events shown by 24HIPC - & saw the cross examinations in court.

It is the jury of his peers that found him guilty of the criminal charge & the sentence came from the sentencing guidelines for that criminal charge which has weightings that may be applied to increase/decrease the sentence within a range.

Remember people like us who were told far more about this found him guilty.

JudgeRindersMinder · 30/11/2022 08:54

NormalNans · 29/11/2022 18:46

There’s a huge difference between not knowing how the future will pan out and knowing that you’re likely facing a custodial sentence, that you may not get work in the future, that your life savings are being used to pay for legal defence and there a chance you might lose the house too, that your mental health is suffering and you have a child who’s going to be separated from their father and you’ve no idea how that’s going to go.

To judge someone for making that decision in any circumstances but particularly these ones is really low.

I absolutely agree with you.

Meanwhile the 2 shitebags have their defence funded by you and me, and just see getting caught as an occupational hazard.

Yes Adam’s conviction was legally correct, but the custodial sentence was utterly disproportionate.

FirstnameSuesecondnamePerb · 30/11/2022 08:55

I agree re the termination. They must have been told the range of sentences and the risk if him going to prison. I guess if she was able to carry on working they could just about get through but with a baby impossible.
I hope that the public support helps them reach some peace and they put their lives back together somewhere new.
