As one officer said, "it's a juicy one"

Absolutely what he did was wrong. But it's the the disproportionate sentence that's the issue. If the burglars had not got Of Scott free, it would be different. I will not be donating to the go fund me as she was still in the wrong.

She?

FitYeDaeinYeMadRadge · 30/11/2022 09:37

what he did wasn’t right, but the sentence time was disproportionate. Gutted for that wee family.

frustrating to see the extent of the two lowlifes injuries stopped the judge giving them a custodial sentence. Shame it didn’t stop them robbing other innocent people merely weeks later!

I’m with @stillvicarinatutu, there is absolutely fuck all deterrent. If something isn’t done to stop this there will be more and more people taking the law into their own hands. Why should we sit back and let them invade homes?

if they are awarded compensation for their injuries - which wouldn’t have happened if they hadn’t been doing something illegal, therefore they should forfeit their ‘rights’ - I will despair at the mess this country has become.

BrotherlyNonLove · 30/11/2022 09:38

Do we have a link to the funding page?

FitYeDaeinYeMadRadge · 30/11/2022 09:39

I donated. And I will again to help cover the cost of any compensation he has to pay if he is screwed over by the courts again.

BrotherlyNonLove · 30/11/2022 09:41

How do I find the page to donate?

FitYeDaeinYeMadRadge · 30/11/2022 10:04

I just googled go fund me Adam White 😊

Tootshoots · 30/11/2022 11:55

I've rarely felt as f*cking outraged as I did watching that. The victim goes to prison while the criminals go free. What a shame they survived that crash.

Tirrrrred · 30/11/2022 11:59

My husband was away for 9 months. I had our baby 4 months in. I know it's not two years but I've not seen him since august. Lots of single women cope.

Tirrrrred · 30/11/2022 11:59

But shocked that his sentence was much worse. I don't think the family will get over that.

Tirrrrred · 30/11/2022 12:03

Anyone know the likelihood of them successfully suing?

billysboy · 30/11/2022 18:00

Why oh why do these scrotes get away with it
the no comment should have serious implications from the first interview ie you got 1 year but that has doubled because despite your guilty plea You no commented throughout all police interviews so 2 years

if there is no deterrent people wil keep breaking the law

those two will never make a meaningful contribution to society

hollyjolls · 30/11/2022 18:32

Christ I've just checked and the go fund me is now over 100k. To have 50k in savings like he mentioned in the first place to pay for the legal fees especially being that young they can't of been short of money. Obviously everything's changed for them now but at the end of the day he behaved recklessly and could of very very easily killed a non-involved innocent person driving home to see their own family or an innocent child, he committed a crime and is now being awarded over 100k 🥴

diian · 30/11/2022 18:41

And if the 2 burglars sue, they will take all of the Go Fund me... so are we just lining the pockets of the scrotes??

Let's hope the money is put in his wife's sole name.

It's really weird sometimes what public opinion will back.

I think the show was heavily edited in their favour. It was the garage and a bike they wanted not entry to the family home. Fair play to him though - someone else started it and I assume he didn't know.

I think it's more about the money. The husband lost his job so no money coming in for 2 years I think was more the issue.

Ricco12 · 30/11/2022 19:31

He has said on his twitter he has lost his career, lost his driving licence and finding decent work is proving difficult. He needs to get his sentence abolished some how from his record as a custodial sentence on his history will always hold him back in gaining employment.

They're suing his insurance company, not him personally. Although now he's got all this money donated to him ...

whatsthestory123 · 30/11/2022 21:21

he is an electrician without transport he cannot work

stillvicarinatutu · 01/12/2022 01:10

I'm sorry but I see these career criminals day in and out - this was not justice .
Yes we can take the law into our own hands but he chased burglars- I'm sure not with the intent to see them crash .
He was - as the cops on the show said - just the Everyman trying to protect his home , his possessions, his wife and kids . I find his sentence unjust in the face of extreme provocation and the real suspects got away with nothing and I can guarantee they'll be back at it 10 fold by now .

It's shameful.

stillvicarinatutu · 01/12/2022 01:10

Can't * take law into our own hands that should say

stillvicarinatutu · 01/12/2022 01:13

If I'd have been the police officer in this cse I'd have absolutely been beside myself.

I know as a cop - there is a way to talk to cps. I've never ever had a job run where it shouldn't and I've had cps lawyers actually ring me asking me what they should do before now .
Common sense didn't prevail here .

I8toys · 01/12/2022 07:08

The British public are showing their disgust at our criminal justice system and ineffective policing with that go fund me. It could happen to any of us. I do not condemn him at all and hope he gets his sentence quashed, reversed whatever. Don't mess with people, their families and their possessions. No justice for everyday people.

Myeyeballsareonfire · 01/12/2022 07:12

I watched this on catch up last night. How absolutely awful for that lovely family. I hope they come back from this, but I imagine psychologically they are battered.

As to the termination, I suspect it’s inclusion was less for sympathy and more as a juxtaposition between one of the burglars saying he was just about to have another baby (already had 2, and I think someone mentioned above that the victims did too?), whereas the victims had to make this decision to terminate.

it’s important to keep in mind that Adam was found guilty at trial by a jury of his peers - that is people like you & me who are randomly selected to serve on a jury, people who share the same indignations, concerns & sense of justice as we expressed on this thread. It is people like us who heard all the evidence submitted - far far more than the edited interpretation of events shown by 24HIPC - & saw the cross examinations in court.

It is the jury of his peers that found him guilty of the criminal charge & the sentence came from the sentencing guidelines for that criminal charge which has weightings that may be applied to increase/decrease the sentence within a range.

Remember people like us who were told far more about this found him guilty.

Of course they found him guilty because he did it. The jury don't really have a free choice about that. The options to not pursue it were in the hands of the cps and they chose to go ahead with a trial.

I'm sure the judge had some discretion about how long he went to prison for too.

So cps and the judge had most power here.

I think the real injustice here is how they dealt with the criminals who were injured. Too often justice isn't seen to be done and criminzls get away with a slapped wrist. People would be less furious if they had gone to prison for much longer than this man did.
