So lotus is back

s1 was good. About holiday makers in a posh hotel and one died but various other things

quite funny

worth watching s1

there is a thread. Not by me s one

s2 is new cast and a new secret apart from jennifer Coolidge who returns as Tanya along with her lover now hubby

This season, Coolidge's hysterical and hyper-sensitive Tanya McQuoid will be joined by Jon Gries, who reprises his season one role of Tanya's lover turned new husband Greg, and Haley Lu Richardson (The Edge of Seventeen) who plays Portia, her assistant. Oscar-winner F. Murray Abraham (Amadeus), Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos), and Adam DiMarco (The Order) portray Bert, Dominic, and Albie, respectively, three generations of men from the Di Grasso family with three very different approaches to the opposite sex on a trip to Sicily to visit their ancestral home.

Also checking in are two polar opposite couples on vacation together: the prickly, newly-rich, and socially aware Harper and Ethan, played by Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation) and Will Sharpe (Landscapers), and the carefree, news-averse, lovey-dovey couple Cameron and Daphne, played by Theo James (The Time Traveler's Wife) and Meghann Fahy (The Bold Type). The separate groups are intertwined when two local girls Mia (Beatrice Granno) and Lucia (Simona Tabasco) find their way into the White Lotus, much to the chagrin of Valentina (Sabrina Impaciatorre), the often flustered manager of the hotel.

I know each to their own when it comes to attraction, but I Jack gave me the ick. He looked all sweaty and would have chewed finger nails.

Oh me too. Zero attraction. Unpleasant character too.

That last episode he was ‘going for a shit’ too. Who tells people that ?

It was an unpleasant comment- but I think at that point he no longer felt he had to put on the charm and she was totally getting the ick

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/12/2022 19:56

Hubby informs me at times he’s going for a poo

I just finished the last episode today ( I have been avoiding this thread in case it gave anything away). I will be sorry not to see Tanya again. What a character and what an actress. I’m not sure if it’s the lines or her delivery. It’s probably both. My favourite was her, “ I got this.” Followed by that. I absolutely love this show.

HeartIsWhereTheHomeIs · 21/12/2022 22:12

If you’re missing Jennifer Coolidge one of the SNL cast did a good impression of her here m.youtube.com/watch?v=YFxlJ1inle0

Blackberrycream · 21/12/2022 22:21

@HeartIsWhereTheHomeIs
That is good! To be fair, it was a great ensemble cast. I loved Harper’s brittleness and curled lip scorn.

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/12/2022 22:35

www.radiotimes.com/tv/drama/white-lotus-season-3-release-date/amp/

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/12/2022 08:23

@Netaporter Yes well found

As it mentioned all die on the boat / but they didn't as one dived off

Only 3 died on the boat - quentin - the one she slept with and the older /white hair man

Didn't the younger dark haired man dive off in fright

Oh wow just finished season 2. I preferred it to season 2. Jennifer Coolidge is brilliant. The characters were all great. I thought the two Italian girls were fun and very charismatic. The Essex boy addition was great, I grew up in that part of the world and honestly, they love the accent overseas. It gets a lot of good attention.

RosaMoline · 01/01/2023 13:00

Binged watched S1 over 2 nights and absolutely loved it. Tanya is my spirit animal & I love her outfits! I was hoping we’d have an update on the poor girl who went into labour though whilst on her shift.
started S1 last night. Gorgeous location, but I honestly think I’d preferred it if it was still based in the original location, just with new guests obviously.
Can someone answer a question for me though? The two couples travelling together (can’t recall names. Sorry) I must’ve missed something - why did one of the husband’s need to borrow the other bloke’s swim shorts? (Whilst errr showing off his impressive appendage 😳)
Did he forget to pack his? Sorry, mundane question but I’ve been mulling on it ever since and can’t be arsed to rewind 😂

Cimafunky · 01/01/2023 13:04

His luggage was lost.

RosaMoline · 01/01/2023 13:06

@Cimafunky - thank you! I thought it had to be something as trivial as that.

FallonofDynasty · 01/01/2023 19:18

Finished s1 and s2. Brilliant, albeit some of the characters are so cringeworthy and awful its untrue.
Interesting what a pp said about the photo of Daphne's kids, I assumed that meant that she was imagining the personal trainer, but the kids being his makes sense.
I spent a lot of time thinking Cameron and Ethan were lovers, and think there was a red herring to that effect.
Sad to see Tanya go.

Found this today about series 3

roll on hopefully end of 2023 or early 2024

partystress · 13/01/2023 22:17

Very mixed feelings about this series. Mostly loved s1 but disappointed that the wives were won back by their DHs being ultra macho.

I felt the ick towards ALL the men in S2. Apart from Tom Hollander until his plan became clear. When the grandfather, dad and son all ogled the woman at the airport…

Were the doorman that Luci and Mia greeted in the closing scene and the blackmailing pimp the same person?

Netaporter · 13/01/2023 22:47

if anyone is a Murray Bartlett fan, I would highly recommend the Chippendales series on Disney+

TottersBlankly · 14/01/2023 07:18

Yes, IIRC, @partystress - there never was a blackmailing pimp.

I’m currently re-watching Giri/Haji - just for more Will Sharpe. He truly is astonishing in it. The way he uses his voice … Hard to believe it’s the same actor.

Absolutely this! I’m really enjoying Chippendales. I was 4 episodes in though before I realised he was Armond from TWL though.

2023username · 22/01/2023 13:00

I’ve just binge watched both series this week whilst I was a bit unwell. Loved them both but S2 definitely had the edge for me. I found the teen/college girls in S1 a bit tedious quite quickly and couldn’t care less what happened to them. It was also a much slower pace. And the Kai storyline was very predictable. I also prefer the Med setting. But I really enjoyed the Armand character.
Have to say though that both series have totally turned me off these kinds of holidays. Seeing behind the curtain and the loathing of the staff towards the guests (much more of a focus in S1 which was very well done) has turned my stomach. When Armand is watching the guests have dinner he comments on it. And all the talk of the buffet. And the way guests become like useless children and needed the concierge to organise everything. Ugh. I might have to staycation from now on 😂

Backtorealitynow · 25/01/2023 04:54

@2023username@

I have just returned from a resort like the first series, oh how we laughed as we approached the dock and staff were waiting waving with cold towels and coconuts, I was humming the theme tune to White Lotus as we got there.

The buffets, dining, theme nights, staff only talking to certain guests, and waiting not so subtly for a tip when you have already paid service. And then the lack of service the next time. Obviously knowing your not tipping left right and centre, short measures with drinks whilst others got extras for the same cost.

Then the loud holidaymakers who 'my villa is bigger than your villa', and I spent $1000 on dinner last night, oh dear god it went on and on......

First and last time at this kind of place, some had a butler and you could see they wanted everything done for them, as you say just like children.
