Just finished the 3rd episode and im finding it quite unsettling, I didn’t expect it to have that kind of effect.
I am however really enjoying it and will see it through.
Anyone else watching it at the moment?

I've watched the trailer and really fancy it but.... DH works away and I darent watch it alone! Does it play on your mind once you've switched it off?

Kate3150 · 15/10/2022 07:44

@swimmingincustard yes, perfect way to sum it up!!
I usually go up to bed before my DH, but I waited for him last night 😂😂

I will watch this today, it's on my list, it looks good, I think I have Covid so it's a weekend of sitting in jimjams and blanket so plenty of time to watch.

Rollergirl11 · 15/10/2022 08:48

I watched one episode last night. Not too sure at the moment but will stick with. I really don’t like the Dad’s attitude towards the daughter (wanting her to be pure) and it’s the main thing putting me off it at the minute. But Mum has commented on it so I assume they are going somewhere with that particular storyline.

Shekissedagirlandshelikedit · 15/10/2022 09:39

It's OK but 2 episodes in I could take it or leave it. It's quite clichéd. Oh look .. A big old house with a dumbwaiter and a basement. And a child with a small furry pet. I wonder what will happen 🤔

If I don't have much empathy for the characters I don't really care what happens to them. The dad is a creep. Lipstick and a bra strap showing? He'd be horrified at the 15 year olds around here. And yet despite his prudeness he'll happily initiate noisy sex in the middle of the day when the kids are wandering around. Ugh.

SlayB · 15/10/2022 16:21

I watched it all. The premise pulls you in and the fact it’s based roughly on a true story. I won’t pass comment on my overall opinion as it’s not a spoiler thread.

user53852098 · 15/10/2022 17:14

I have watched five episodes and enjoyed it, it's better than some of the other Netflix offerings at the moment, I shall watch the other 2 episodes tomorrow.

Namechangedforthis12456 · 15/10/2022 19:58

I’m watching this and I won’t say who but I feel like I’ve worked it out on episode five.

Did anyone else feel this? I’m hoping I’m wrong and there’s a massive twist at the end.

OneFrenchEgg · 15/10/2022 19:59

I really wanted to like it , as the story has fascinated me for ages. But it's really bad and not very engaging.

MermaidEyes · 15/10/2022 20:24

I'm 3 episodes in and enjoying it but not riveted. As a pp said, if you find you don't really like any of the characters, you don't really care what happens to them. Why is dad so overly touchy-feely with both his wife and daughter, what's with all the hair fondling? And the fact they seem to have no boundaries who's around when they fancy a bit (in the motel room with the security lad there?!)

I'll watch to the end but it feels a bit like The Devil in Ohio - could have been so good but ended up just being a bit meh.

VioletCharlotte · 15/10/2022 20:38

I'm about half way though episode one. I'm trying to stick with it, but I can't bear the Dad.

Also, 2 police cars and blue lights for a dead ferret?!

MermaidEyes · 15/10/2022 20:41

I was laughing at the police bit. Also, when they received the first letter and went straight to the police station and saw a detective straight away. Here you're lucky if there's a police officer available if you're murdered!

mycatisannoying · 15/10/2022 20:48

I'm watching it. Think I'm on episode 2. Love how Naomi is growing older gracefully and beautifully, complete with wrinkles.

To be honest, it's the fact that it's based on a true story that is keeping me hooked in. Otherwise I'd think it too bizarre and far-fetched.
I had high hopes for it and have been looking forward to seeing it. Time will tell if it lives up ...

Rubbishname101 · 15/10/2022 20:56

I watched the first episode tonight and wasn’t going to bother again - I found the Dad so irritating and it all felt a bit predictable, but having read some of these posts, it sounds like there could be a twist and I might give it another go.

FreezingThyme · 15/10/2022 21:20

It’s like Scooby Doo but with the main characters dressed courtesy of The White Company.

Towcat15 · 15/10/2022 21:25

Sorry but it’s laughable. Acting is dreadful, characters over the top, cliches everywhere you look… really not seeing how people find it scary I turned off middle of episode 3.

Campervangirl · 15/10/2022 21:26

Literally just watched the last episode tonight, spooky but it lost it's momentum at the end

greenhousegal · 15/10/2022 21:39

Formulaic. I don't care about the story or the characters. Gave up after E2.

Not even interested in the way it pans out. So I am disappointed not to have anything on my list that appeals to me. I don't watch TV, so something on You Tube now I think.

I’ve just finished it. Don’t bother!

dayswithaY · 15/10/2022 22:58

It’s making me laugh how they’re too scared to live there but won’t just sell the house.

Random creepy people keep wandering in, why don’t they have locks?

Security guy taking weeks to just put up a few cameras - the letters are sent by post anyway.

Dad taking endless time off work to meet female detective in a diner so she can tell him some far fetched story - just ring him?

And noisy daytime sex around the kids, really?

A580Hojas · 15/10/2022 23:01

Watched one episode and was completely gob smacked at what a pile of utter shite it was. I've never seen such awful, wooden, cliche-ridden bobbins and believe me I've watched my share of iffy TV.

anonacfr · 15/10/2022 23:03

It's typical Ryan Murphy isn't it?
Bizarre characters and disjointed scenes.
I am on episode 2 and enjoying it.

Great cast. And agree that Naomi looks amazing. I am really coveting her thick rim glasses. I need a second pair of reading glasses and might try that style. Probably will look like a clown though.

TheChosenTwo · 15/10/2022 23:11

Dd and I watched the first episode this evening, switched off about half an hour in. Seemed a bit shit!
the dad was a bit of a creep with the lipstick and then kissing her repeatedly after just shagging his wife, just felt a bit grim.
and I know it’s based on real life events but it’s only very loose apparently. Would rather watch a documentary to be honest.

We've just finished the second episode..I read it a few years ago too...I'm sure I read somewhere it was based on some kind of truth but I could be mistaken. Enjoying it though.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 15/10/2022 23:32

I've watched it all and loved it,so did Dh.
Genius casting of Mia Farrow as bits of it had that Rosemary's Baby feel to it. I've been reading up on the story it was based on.
