Just finished the 3rd episode and im finding it quite unsettling, I didn’t expect it to have that kind of effect.
I am however really enjoying it and will see it through.
Anyone else watching it at the moment?

OP posts:
ellebelli · 21/10/2022 09:43

I thought he was the best in it,apart from the kids everyone else just seemed wierd
Was amazed towards the end when Nora had a black outfit on!
The end annoyed me,I know they never did find out who the watcher was.
However in this I thought it was leading to it being two people?was it not these two in the end?(trying to avoid spoilers)

fantasmasgoria1 · 21/10/2022 10:07

I thought the first episode was reasonable but after the second episode I haven't bothered again.

arghtriffid · 21/10/2022 12:34

Really good so far episode 6.

AndTwoFilmsByFrancoisTruffaut · 22/10/2022 07:55

DH and I enjoyed it. The characters were so unlikeable but I thought the acting was pretty good: NW and BC worked well together. We didn’t go into it thinking it’s going to blow our minds, but it was entertaining and engaging. The true story aspect certainly adds a layer of interest but when I looked up the story afterwards, it’s pretty tenuous!

The ending was lame though.

DillDanding · 22/10/2022 07:56

We reluctantly saw it through to the end.

I wish we hadn’t bothered as by episode 7 we were bored rigid.

LobeliaBaggins · 22/10/2022 15:06

That was 7 hours of my life I want back. So many plot holes and unanswered questions? Are we allowed to ask? Who was John eventually?

It was weird and quirky which I like. It wan not meant to be 100% serious. People have different levels of humour. I enjoyed it but I can see how people were like WTF?

vickibee · 22/10/2022 20:18

Very underwhelmed by the ending

chimichangaz · 22/10/2022 21:39

Jeez. Wasted several hours of my life on that.

Plot holes galore, very odd pace to it. The ending was shite.

Just odd.

notmyrealmoniker · 23/10/2022 13:33

Not read the thread as I am only on episode 2, but I can't understand how a family can afford (even cashing in shares etc) to go from a small apartment in NY where the kids didn't have their own rooms (??) (dad says he wants the kids to have their own rooms) to this great big mansion? Surely you would have better housing, even in NY than what they allude to? And how and why something so huge? Just confused

ellebelli · 23/10/2022 16:14

I nearly stopped watching when mo said her son had taken two homeless people to the house and shot them both in the face!

arghtriffid · 24/10/2022 11:37

Episode 7 now. I still think it's great as PP said reminds me of Rosemary's Baby.

Londono · 24/10/2022 13:34

I thought it started strong and descended into the ridiculous.

Also it was hard to take Mia Farrow's character seriously about wanting to preserve history when her face was the most modified thing in every scene.

ellebelli · 24/10/2022 13:43

Well she had some competition with Karen!
Both ridiculous characters

Londono · 24/10/2022 13:49

She did but Karen's character wasn't banging on about the importance of original features being looked after

Right? what was that even?

Arnaquer · 25/10/2022 08:13

Stayed up until 1am watching the last 3 episodes.
It started off so well but just descended into the ridiculous.
The Mo and Mel return and explanation was nuts and it just went downhill from there. And the ending, just WTH?
I loved NWs whole wardrobe and she looked amazing.
It was a fun watch but frustrating as well.

PurpleButterflyWings · 28/10/2022 19:18

Watched all 7 now. POSSIBLE SPOILERS!!!

Cannot stand the dad at all. Much prefer the actor in Nine Perfect Strangers. The dad has no redeeming qualities. And as soon as the family moved into 657 Boulevard (or whatever it's called,) he started being arsey with the neighbours. First think you do in any area you move into is try and get on with the neighbours. YOU are the newbies, and the ones who have to try and fit in, and not upset anyone. He was such a dickhead.

And yeah, Naomi's farcical massive glasses. WTAF? Confused They would look good on NO-ONE!!!

Annoying teen daughter, average son. 'Meh' family.. It started off well and I was hooked, but as a number of posters have said, it got disjointed, and daft from episode 5. WTF was the drinking babies blood stuff about, why were the neighbours all staring out of the window on the last episode, did the brother of Mia Farrow really witness people being murdered, why was the chief of police really angry with 'Karen,' who WAS in the tunnel, why were there even tunnels under the house, was there really a cult, and who is sending the 'ode to a house' letters and why? We never found out.

It was a decent series, but I am disappointed with the ending. Theodora was the only one I enjoyed watching really. And even HER exit was shit. Pretending to be The Watcher, by saying she was the previous owner, and was a member of the country club etc... As IF the dad/the family wouldn't find out when they asked/mentioned it to people. Daft.

notmyrealmoniker · 29/10/2022 10:37

Silly, watchable but disappointed with the ending

It's OK but 2 episodes in I could take it or leave it. It's quite clichéd. Oh look .. A big old house with a dumbwaiter and a basement. And a child with a small furry pet. I wonder what will happen 🤔

If I don't have much empathy for the characters I don't really care what happens to them. The dad is a creep. Lipstick and a bra strap showing? He'd be horrified at the 15 year olds around here. And yet despite his prudeness he'll happily initiate noisy sex in the middle of the day when the kids are wandering around. Ugh.

Couldn't stand that bit. Having sex in the day, loud, with teens walking about.

I wasn't sure it was a pisstake "Honey I'm
Home" The Neighbours in matching trackies, the daughter getting out of the pool just as the young alarm guy happened to walk by. The dippy woman from legally blonde.

I'm only half way into E2 so not sure if it's meant to be serious or not.

Whydoiwearsomuchleopardprint · 30/10/2022 21:32

Thought whole thing ridiculous! Didn’t enjoy it, awful ending! And why is everyone wearing weird leather gloves???

That's how I feel.

It was trashy in the best Ryan Murphy tradition, but I liked it. Ending was rubbish but I guess there wasn't much they could do about that, seeing that it was based on 'real life'.

EachandEveryone · 07/11/2022 18:49

I thought it was funny and I imagine the actors had a laugh making it. There were some great names in there.

it was scary just camp really. Hated the end and the fact that I dont know which bits were true.

gloriamoi · 07/11/2022 21:39

they are making a 2nd season

Just finished and so disappointed with the lack of ending and solutions. Wonder if the second series will feature a different house? Don't see how they could eke this story out any longer?
