THE HOUSE ACROSS THE STREET CH5 9pm mon and tue - TV PACE NO SPOILERS

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/10/2022 19:18

New 4 part drama on over 2weeks

The House Across the Street follows Claudia, a reclusive woman who becomes increasingly obsessed with the case of a missing child who lived nearby.

The official Channel 5 synopsis explains that “when a young child in her community goes missing, Claudia becomes embroiled in the case and fixated on uncovering the truth - however, her fascination quickly begins to turn to obsession, not only with what happened to Emily, but also with the Winter family at the heart of the case.”

As her obsession grows, Claudia starts a relationship with George, a teacher at the school she works in – but gets pulled deeper and deeper into a deceptively complex mystery.

Shirley Henderson plays Claudia, the reclusive nurse who starts to obsess over a missing child. Henderson is a prolific actor, she’s perhaps best known, though, for her roles in the Harry Potter film series

Craig Parkinson plays George, the teacher who starts a relationship with Claudia. Parkinson is best known for his role in Line of Duty, where he played the bent copper ‘Dot’ Cottan,

Owen and Sabine Winter, parents of missing child Emily, are played by Ian-Lloyd Anderson (Game of Thrones, Derek) and Lisa Dwyer Hogg (Silent Witness, The Irregulars).

They’re joined by Sara Powell (Doctor Who, Death in Paradise), Ronan Leahy (Batman Begins), and Luke Griffin (1893) amongst others. Myah Mason plays Emily Winter, the missing child.

purpleme12 · 26/10/2022 22:37

E-go instead of Google 😂

purpleme12 · 27/10/2022 00:27

The boy has no emotion in his lines at all.

The woman trying on his boxers and keeping them on! 😂😂😂

purpleme12 · 27/10/2022 01:16

Well it was certainly an odd one

TitsInAbsentia · 27/10/2022 11:53

I'm bowing out five minutes in to ep 3...probably should have been sooner...although I'm thinking do I carry on for the underpants scene 😂 I'm gutted Craig Parkinson was in this pile of dross.

I don't even care who did or didn't do what!

ellebelli · 27/10/2022 14:44

Well ive not even started this so I think I'm the wisest one.
Based on bits I've read of the comments I won't bother.
I'm sorry @Blondeshavemorefun I either binge or am so far behind everyone I can't join in the thread but I still enjoy reading them

EasyLifer · 27/10/2022 14:46

So much time was wasted showing Claudia in bed and sneaking about hiding behind walls and trees and not enough time on the actual story, I agree it wasn't very clear at first that Emily had actually been found dead.
I love Craig Parkinson, please can we see him again soon in something better.

legophoenix · 27/10/2022 17:05

SO many plot holes and unanswered questions!!

So many questions that I can't be arsed.

We were lead down the wrong path too much.
First we were supposed to think the Doll Woman did it, then the Doll Woman's Husband
Then George then.....
Adopted Boy
Claudia
Claudia Son
The Dad
The Mum
Then the Brother

foxlover47 · 28/10/2022 20:55

Pauline behind the curtain would of made more sense @Blondeshavemorefun

purpleme12 · 29/10/2022 00:17

i don't know about that 😂

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/10/2022 09:01

She sure would have 😂😂

She was Claudia pressed up face forward against a wall , so both are similar .

When the teacher started talking to her, she stayed in exactly the same position ! 😅😅

I didn't think I would enjoy a series less than The Teacher. Yet here we are 😅

@Blondeshavemorefun I love your TV threads - I'm a continual name changer but been on mn many years. Never watched The Teacher though but now wondering if it's worth it as it doesn't sound that great 🤣

The ending was a but crap as in no one would do what she did

but Pauline behind the curtains and all the replies after that make up for it 😂

I think of Pauline behind the curtain all the time!! It was hilarious. I always say about Channel 5 dramas that if they are bad they are usually so bad they are so funny.

This one was completely unhinged. Absolutely none of this series made sense! Why would you take the blame for a child murder when you didn't do it and you have your own child and you only met the family when this started.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/10/2022 23:02

@RubertRoo same reason as the other ch5 one did as well with moaning myrtle
