Drogon was tiny compared to Vhagar.

Absolutely. But wasn't he about the same size as Arrax who took 14 years to get to that size?

Anyway, I am happy to not think too deeply on that one Grin

Vhagar was bloody massive!

WhathaveIdoneagain · 24/10/2022 20:03

@GottaGetOutofDairy You are right 🤣

TheTantrumoftheToddlerIsThere · 24/10/2022 20:58

Am I the only one who was distracted by Phil Daniel as the Maester.

When he said “I’ll send the ravens” I couldn’t help but sing “I sometimes send the sparrows too, it gives me a sense of enormous well being… PARK LIFE” 🤣

His accents just seems so off in this to me.

What was Joffrey's spoiler from GOT?

What was Joffrey's spoiler from GOT?

Ooh yes, good question. CBA watching the whole GoT episode to hear it so if anyone wants to spill 🙂

Here's Joffrey talking about Rhaenyra. Watch only if you don't mind the spoiler.

LobeliaBaggins · 24/10/2022 22:09

Yikes. So sad for poor Lucerys. He was really too young to be playing messenger boy. Interesting that Aemond really didn't mean to kill him; just tease him. I guess to demonstrate that war by dragon is very unpredictable.

Way too much time spent on Rhaenyra's various childbirths. Is she ever not giving birth?

BorgQueen · 24/10/2022 22:12

Drogon did turn on Daenerys once though, bared his teeth and roared at her.
Which Dragon was Daemon singing to? A wild one? It seemed like a big one too.
I do think they’re trying a bit too hard to draw parallels with GOT. They may as well have got Mark Addey in as Boros Baratheon 🤣

Claymorekick · 24/10/2022 22:15

Just saw this photo on Twitter with a caption of 'Aemond's face after f*cking up' 😂

Thanks for the clip of GoT - can see why it's a massive spoiler but I am wondering which brother 😉

How did Daemon know Luc was dead? And as there were no witnesses how do they know how it happened?

Or did someone from the castle inform them that Aemond gave chase?

Can someone who has read the book please advise. Thanks x

I wondered this too

AcrossthePond55 · 24/10/2022 22:39

Remembering the look that passed between Daemon and Aemond in a previous episode, could they possibly be in cahoots with each other? Maybe Luc's death was part of a plot, but just not expected to happen the way it did. Maybe it was supposed to look like an accident?

Can't imagine why they'd be in cahoots, but who knows.

BlackberryCat · 24/10/2022 22:55

I’m guessing that the remnants of the dragon and Luc fell to the ground and were found.

I remember that scene and it pissed me off so much - Dany was such a dick with him! He’d just saved her from the Sons of the Harpy and was injured then when they safely landed she wanted him to go and find dinner for them! 😳

In the book Luc’s body was never found, only remnants of Arrax and people just guessed what happened.

That makes sense. They did show the wing and tail of the dragon falling through the sky.

DeckardK · 24/10/2022 23:53

Oh, I assumed the spoiler was from this episode...definitely don't watch if you don't want to know!

LittleMrsPerfect · 25/10/2022 00:00

Yes Don’t watch the clip, I didn’t thing it would be that much of a spoiler!!

LachrymoseLeeches · 25/10/2022 00:00

Shame this series took so long to get going and now we have another long wait. I didn't hate it but it mainly felt like setting the scene for future series. And I don't really care about any of the characters.

DeckardK · 25/10/2022 00:02

I agree it's been pretty pointless. What was the point of the graphic scene at the beginning of the episode, other than to shock - it didn't further the story. I'm disappointed by it all really.

Honeyroar · 25/10/2022 00:06

Aw finally got really into it and will now have to wait ages for the next series (and I’ll have forgotten everything by then!).

But why did they send the young Luke and his toddler sized dragon to speak to a grumpy house leader? Where was the wisdom in sending all the sons off individually to speak to various houses when it had already been stated that “the baddies” would want to get rid of all rivals for the throne? And why rely on the decency/honour of people to not fight when they’ve just shown they have absolutely no honour/morals when they crowned their own king?? They might as well have killed Luke themselves.

And while you were all seeing Star Wars parallels, during the chase I was expecting Hagrid to come out of the mist on his motorcycle with Harry and Hedwig in the sidecar!

I am suspicious that Daemon may want rid of Rhaeynera's older children so that the children they had together would be heir to the throne.
But hadn't considered that this incident with Aemond was part of his. Aemond looked genuinely shocked and remorseful even when there was no one watching...

Plus if all 3 of her non-Daemon children die, then Daemon's daughters become the heir to Driftmark/Valyrean stuff? As the eldest living grandchildren of Corlys?

If all the Strong boys die, Daemon's sons will become heir to whatever claim to the Iron Throne Rhaenyra has.

BlackberryCat · 25/10/2022 08:18

This is the story about the crowns. Rhaenyra has the gold crown and Aegon has the black crown.

The crown given to Aegon in the episode is black, much different than the gold headpiece worn by Viserys. Aegon's crown actually belonged to the first Targaryen to rule the Seven Kingdoms, the King who forged the Iron Throne: Aegon the Conqueror. A choice was made to give Aegon the crown of his namesake, who conquered Westeros on the back of a dragon, rather than give him the crown of his father, who ruled during an era of peace. It's also worth noting that Aegon II didn't like his father very much.

Aegon the Conqueror wore the black crown during his rule. That crown was passed down to the next King, Aenys, who wore it to start his time on the Iron Throne. He was given a golden crown by the High Septon later in his tenure. His successor, Maegor, hated the Faith of the Seven and opted to use the original crown once again. Jaehaerys, who was seen naming Viserys as his successor at the beginning of House of the Dragon, chose to wear the gold crown. He wanted to differentiate himself from the violence of Maegor and used the crown as a way to represent the changes he would make as King.

The golden crown was often worn by the peaceful Kings, while Aegon's crown was only worn by the volatile Maegor after Aegon passed.
