Yes, I will be watching! I did some Wiki reading to orient myself. Some brutal stuff coming up!

GinandTonic1975 · 17/06/2024 15:27

I read that also, counting down the hours till I can watch the first episode, make a change from football which has taken over my household 😆

AcrossthePond55 · 17/06/2024 16:04

I watched episode 1 last night (US). Lips are zipped until it's aired in the UK.

BTW, when will that be?

GinandTonic1975 · 17/06/2024 16:10

Its available to watch on Sky now and also been shown at 9pm tonight - when are we allowed to talk about it?

WinterIsComingKnitFaster · 17/06/2024 16:12

Checking in. Shall we say that the spoiler moratorium ends at 10pm?

AcrossthePond55 · 17/06/2024 16:28

That's 2 pm 'my time'. I'll check back then to see if anyone has posted 'spoilers'. I hate to be the first lol.

GinandTonic1975 · 17/06/2024 16:30

Yes I will be back around 10pm😊

LobeliaBaggins · 17/06/2024 17:19

For some unaccountable reason, I have a technical fault on my Sky. Aaargh. I am going to have to mute this discussion until I fix it. So frustrating.

virgocatlover · 17/06/2024 18:28

It's available to watch on Now TV as soon as it airs in the US (so 2am Monday morning). I've just watched it but I've seen spoilers everywhere on social media today.

BorgQueen · 17/06/2024 19:35

They’ve messed with the Blood and Cheese story 🤬
The new intro is fab though, the tapestry is inspired, then Hearing the Winterfell theme after so long made me feel very nostalgic.

WinterIsComingKnitFaster · 17/06/2024 21:36

No spoilers but:

New better titles!
Return of Sue Perkins' companion show!

WinterIsComingKnitFaster · 17/06/2024 22:05

....And the Hoody of Dark Deeds is back!

Lovewine1975 · 17/06/2024 22:27

The ending was brutal! Fantastic episode though, don't want to now wait a week for the next one

LobeliaBaggins · 18/06/2024 00:00

Saw it. Hmmm. when are we allowed to discuss it?

Holycowss · 18/06/2024 06:46

Place marking. Oh that ending

RainycloudUK · 18/06/2024 07:18

Nope! Officially tapping out of the HotD universe! I just about survived series one, but that ending was much too dark for me! 😱

Apparently it's even worse in the books and they toned it down for TV... just nope. 😭 I'm not mentally equipped for season two at all... back to Ted Lasso for me! 🤣

Rhaenys · 18/06/2024 09:59

I actually forgot it was on until someone reminded me. 🥴

Wasn’t expecting Blood & Cheese to be in the first episode!

I was so happy to see the Murder Hoodie.

LobeliaBaggins · 18/06/2024 10:05

They toned it down quite a bit from the book. Perhaps understandably so, but I don't think Helena's plight came across properly.

Does anyone think it's incomprehensible that there were no guards anywhere in the palace?

Also rather hmmmm at the way Alicent has not aged at all. She is supposed to be a granny, but as lissome and lovely as ever.

TinselAngel · 18/06/2024 10:21

I think they were completely focussed on attack from above rather than below, Cristen Cole should have been on duty but he was busy shagging Alicent and Thingy Strong had got rid of all the domestic staff apart from his own spies.

TinselAngel · 18/06/2024 12:37

Also guards could have been reduced so the shagging wasn't detected.

GinandTonic1975 · 18/06/2024 12:59

I thought Emma D'Arcy acting was just fantastic, she had one line in the whole episode but still managed to convey so much emotion and grief, the scene with her son had me close to tears

I agree, it's just not believable that she's Aemond's mother, he looks at least 5 years older than her!

AcrossthePond55 · 18/06/2024 14:51

I agree the ending was so brutal. But it does set up a good revenge story arc.

I'm not tapping out just yet. I think the first episode went a bit slow overall.

WinterIsComingKnitFaster · 18/06/2024 17:29

I think the slowness of it was lovely. The opening scene at the Wall was such a treat.
