Aurane Waters was Cersei's Master of Ships. He was a Velaryon bastard. Cersei thought that he was a pale imitation of Rhaegar. Somehow I think he convinced Cersei to build him a fleet which he then stole. I cannot for the life of me remember if he was in the show.

WhathaveIdoneagain · 06/10/2022 22:45

There are a lot of Targ heirs in the Free Cities: the Blackfyres, Brightflames, possibly Brightfyre heirs in exile. Aerys had searched for them to find a bride for Rhaegar. He sent Robert Baratheon's parents to find them, but they failed and their ship capsized.

There are also a lot of Targ bastards on Dragonstone as well.

Anon778833 · 07/10/2022 07:44

How would they carry on the line though? Jon is half Stark. After having to kill Dany, I doubt he would want to pair up with another Targaryen. 😬

WhathaveIdoneagain · 07/10/2022 09:44

Jon is sent to the Wall, no? So technically he is not allowed to have legitimate children. Although women are buzzing around him all the time. If there's really a sequel about him, it is not over.

Also there are rumours that Rhaegar and Elia's eldest son, Aegon, has survived the sack of Kings Landing and lives in the Free Cities.

BorgQueen · 07/10/2022 09:50

Is that ‘Young Griff’ in the books, who was with Tyrion on a ship at one point?

WhathaveIdoneagain · 07/10/2022 10:29

@BorgQueen Yes.

In terms of women Jon could choose a Baratheon or Martell woman, they are the closest relatives of Targs in the Seven Kingdoms. Brienne has recent Targaryen ancestors. I miss Brienne.

LoobyDop · 07/10/2022 11:42

Brienne and Jon would be far too polite to ever get within six feet of each other, never mind produce a new generation of Targaeryens. Jon will find a nice wildling girl to marry. Or an as-yet-unseen but surviving and less annoying Sand Snake, that could work.

BlackberryCat · 07/10/2022 12:32

Yes, I suspect Jon will be off women as he’s back in the Night Watch. He definitely will be tempted though. He’s such a hopeless romantic. He was so young when he met Ygritte. Poor bugger doesn’t have much luck!

Cuppasoupmonster · 07/10/2022 12:35

No it’s Brienne and Tormund for me ❤️

WinterIsComingKnitFaster · 07/10/2022 12:47

I reckon Jon wasn't staying in the Night's Watch. The last scene looked like he was setting off with a colony of Wildlings and Ghost (the goodest of all good boys) to found a new home North of the Wall.

WinterIsComingKnitFaster · 06/10/2022 22:25

Don't forget Jon Snow. The Targaryen line will presumably carry on above the Wall. And Gendry's an illegitimate descendant as well.

Gendry a Tagareyan descendant? Have I missed something as I thought he was the illegitimate son of Robert Baratheon with a “common” woman.

WhathaveIdoneagain · 07/10/2022 12:50

There is a mysterious wildling princess in the book, and in my mind she is as good as married to Jon.

I loved these two together ! She should have gone for Tormund instead of Jamie, she was too good for him !

WinterIsComingKnitFaster · 07/10/2022 12:53

Yes he was Robert's son (probably only survivor of Cersei's Herod impersonation (or was it Littlefinger?)). But Robert had Targaryen blood - used as a figleaf for his rebellion, his grandmother was Targaryen.

GottaGetOutofDairy · 07/10/2022 13:03

For those trying to picture how Robert B has Targaryen blood....

Ah ok thank you 😊 I read the GOT series of books years ago but there is so much info in them I don’t know how you guys remember it all ! More than one read ?
@GottaGetOutofDairy thank you for posting this

She was never an actual princess, she was just the younger sister of Mance Ryder's wife (Mance defected from the Black Watch to marry a wilding woman and he eventually became overall leader of the wildings).

WhathaveIdoneagain · 07/10/2022 18:57

Valmus a princess in my heart @peaceandove 😄

WhathaveIdoneagain · 07/10/2022 18:57

I mean Val, what is Valmus?

I was thinking that Laena's death by dragon would have been really moving if we had spent more than 5 minutes with her. Still don't get why she married Daemon, or he married her, or what they were to each other. Dismissed in one line " we were happy enough." Daemon doesn't seem to care about his weeping girls at all.

Contrast her death to Varys' death by dragon in GoT , which really made me sad, because we had got to know him and he had the best lines.

This is a deleted scene that shows Daemon in a more sympathetic light. Obviously the show runners don't want to think.of him as a good person 🤔

WhathaveIdoneagain · 08/10/2022 18:36

I love the new photos released on the HBO House of the Dragon official site for episode 8.

WhathaveIdoneagain · 09/10/2022 10:08

Just saw a theory on the dagger which Viserys shows Rhaenyra that has the Song of Ice and Fire etched on it. This is the dagger Alicent draws on Rhaenyra later and now has Rhaenyra's blood on it.
Apparently, it is the same Valyrian steel dagger that injured Catelyn Stark. She thought it was Tyrion's, but it was really sent by Joffrey. This dagger is used by Arya to kill the Night King in the show.
I have never made this connection to be honest.

8misskitty8 · 09/10/2022 11:18

It’s the catspaw dagger.
At some point it will leave the valeryans and get passed around before getting to Arya and she uses it to kill the night king in game of thrones.
It shows the prophecy about the king that was promised.

Episode 8 Spoilers!!

***

Yes, the dagger appears in this episode as well. In a very important role.

I liked episode 8. You can really feel the tension building between the 2 sides and the inevitable war. I'm really glad to hear it has been renewed for another season. It would be a bit shit if after all this tension was built, it got cancelled.

Paddy Constantine was great in this episode. I keep thinking this is the last we'll see of him but Viserys is hanging in there. I feel that by the end he'll just be a small ball of rotting flesh.

I'm glad they have kept some humanity in Alicent and she hasn't gone full-on Cersei Lannister.

I love Helaena's speech about marriage. She made an interesting comment "Beware the beast behind the boards" or something like that.

I forgot to look for the mouse!

WhathaveIdoneagain · 10/10/2022 09:49

I can't wait to see it. The older Aemond looks like a true Targaryen badass.
