A spin-off from the Torchwood thread where there seem to be lots of people reminiscing about the good ole days of Buffy and Angel and the genius that is Joss Whedon.

I sometimes feel strange confessing to being a Buffy fan in RL at the age of 36 but I love both it and Angel. So if you need somewhere to swap favourite moments, this is the thread!

Another Buffy obsessed fan here I could never get into Angel, especially once they got into the whole Cordelia/ Connor thing.

My favourite episodes are Hush, Once More With Feeling, and Restless ("I wear the cheese- it does not wear me")

(DS1 said I was very sad during OMWF when Spike offers Buffy a drink and I said with her "a world of no" )

Hush had Riley in it (it was the episode where he and Buffy each realised that the other was Not What He Or She Seemed) so presumably Season 4.

KaySamuels · 18/01/2008 21:02

Hush is the episode where riley and buffy come face to face fighting the gentlemen. Not sure what series it's in though.

We know all the words here too we watch them far too often!

JonesTheSteam · 18/01/2008 22:03

Hush is in Series 4.

Fantastic episode - was Emmy nominated I think.

Loved Buffy. Was very sad when it ended.

And I still have a huge crush on ASH / Giles.

Likeasow · 18/01/2008 22:45

Hello! how exciting - new to MN and now a Buffy thread - I am hooked now. Can I join in?
Angel - I actually quite liked it - the bit when he danced at a party and the offcuts had him dancing like a nutter has warmed me heart since. But the whole Buffy Spike naughty sex against wall of Double Meat Palace etc and general wrong sexiness - ie sex when invisible etc was too good. Was a bit disappointed when I saw JM in real life at one of his gigs in London - he was sweet - which is not what we want from Spike is it. We want swirly coat surliness and good one liners.
My baby does a great vamp face when squished in the right way - I would never do that of course but DH thinks its really funny to do 'buffy' faces on the DCs....is it so wrong?

Likeasow · 18/01/2008 22:49

ps I love Giles too - get quite excited when he pops up on Little Britain etc.
Angel - how moving was the episode when he went to the Oracle and rejected the opportunity to be a real boy so that he could continue to fight the fight with Buffy which menat that the previous 24 hour lovefest that he had finally had with Buffy without turning bad was deleted from her mind but not his so he had to live with the torment and the self sacrifice and she didn't know.
I am sad. but I think Joss Whedon does romance really well - has me and gay brother blubbing with ease.

cornsilk · 18/01/2008 23:04

Was Hush the one where they couldn't speak and there were scary floaty things going about? Liked that one. Haven't seen an episode for nearly 7 years! How old do chn need to be to watch Buffy do you think?

Hello Likeasow - welcome to MN and to our Buffy thread! interesting what you say about JM in RL because apparently he is very sweet - the attempted rape of Buffy really really upset him and he has never watched it back. He has refused film/tv roles in the past because they involved rape scenes and then got forced to do this scene. And now he goes to conventions, etc and women shout, 'You can rape me any time, Spike' and it really distresses him! [ah how sweet emoticon]

Jones thestaem - I have met and been kissed (only on the cheek but hey!) by ASH! Took my mum to see him in Pirates of Penzance in London and she and I hung around the stage door afterwards [sigh] And I have his autograph (and, yes, I am a very sad person for being so excited about this!)

Saddest moments for me: Buffy killing Angel at end of Season 2 (cried like a baby) and Buffy's death at end of Season 5 - how devastated was Spike in that scene?

Kerry - my ds has already watched the musical episode and he is 4! Am I a terrible mother? Haven't let him watch any others but he could definitely pick Spike out of a line up!

Am very jealous, slayerette

ASH always seems like such a nice guy in real life.

Likeasow - yes that episode of Angel had me in floods as well.

sockmonkey · 19/01/2008 10:50

I have the musical episode CD too. Man that was a good one.
Loved Angel too. Was I the only one who thought the episode where he turned into a muppet was quite good? The early Angel stuff was the best though.
It's funny I was just thinking about getting out the old buffy dvds...
I think I liked Xander the most though...always had a soft spot for the geek. I was properly angry when he lost his eye.

ArmadilloDaMan · 19/01/2008 13:28

I'd forgotten about the muppet episode.

That was fab.

I really want to rewatch them all now.

I got rid of all my Buffy and Angel on vid. They took up far too much room and I always promised myself I'd get them on DVD.

I really better start saving up.

slayerette · 19/01/2008 15:27

They've really dropped in price, Armadillo. When I think how much i could have saved if I hadn't bought them as soon as they came out on dvd...

OP posts:
ArmadilloDaMan · 19/01/2008 15:31

I once added up how much my video collection was worth (full price) - I was

I would like to get the complete edition DVDs, but although I know they work out a lot cheaper than the full price individual ones, it's still too much at mo.

hello

I belong here

constancereader · 19/01/2008 18:41

But have you seen the Buffy series 8 comic?

(apologies if already discussed, I skimmed through but didn't see it)

It is FABULOUS!!

Written by Joss himself. I have never read a comic before but my buffy passion made me.

constancereader · 19/01/2008 18:43
