what confused me….

Charlie telling Jacob that Menisha needed to be moved from Resus and into the Mortuary and Jacob said, “I know but her dad is with her. Just give him 5 minutes, yeah?”

Then 10 minutes after they show Jacob and Manisha’s dad in the Relatives Room and the sad was saying, “Are you sure there wasn’t a mistake, I know how busy you all are….are you sure names haven’t been mixed up? My Manisha can’t be dead.”

Surely, if the dad had been sitting with Menisha’s body in Resus 10 minutes ago he’d be pretty certain that she was in fact dead?!

Its almost like Casualty got the two scenes the wrong way round when all the parts were pieced together and none of the producers clicked.

Awkward!

Yes we noticed that DHs comment was "if she's not dead you've just been sat with some random dead body the last 10 minutes" to which I told him to be more understanding as the guy had just suffered a major emotional trauma. We then reminded each other it wasn't real life and went back to playing on our phones whilst half watching it.

So was Charlie displaying signs of confusion and absent-mindedness? He just seemed really peculiar, wandering around an extremely busy department, but not actually doing anything, his reactions were really slow and he se3med to fumble for words.
did he get the lady who collapsed booked in, or did he just stick her in the corner and forget about her?

is this him showing signs of dementia?

She was booked in already. He just wanted a doctor to see her before she was discharged.

Did he leave the house as is, move into a flat, then back to the house after the flat blew up?

I think that David abandoned his house after he got beaten up by an angry mob of parents outside it. He still owned it but moved into the flat to stay safe. Presumably though he moved back in after his safe flat exploded. It's a tough life living in Holby isn't it?

The only explanation I could come up with was that he'd been temporarily rehoused for safety. It was very odd!

He knew she was dead, I think it was just denial and wanting someone to tell him it wasn't happening to him. I don't think it was necessarily unrealistic.

I don’t know….

If I had been sat with a relative’s body in recovery for a period of time then I wouldn’t later be asking a member of staff if there’d been a mistake and asking if maybe there’d been a mix-up with names and my relative had been confused with someone else. Seeing as the body he had been sitting with would have had his daughter’s face it would be clear there was no mix-up with names.

It doesn’t make sense at all.

It makes perfect sense though that the conversation he had with Jacob would take place before seeing his daughter’s body in Resus, not afterwards.

And yes, I was also confused by Olly’s bedroom scene.

And I was also confused by Charlie dishing out the magnets to everyone. It appeared as though he was just handing out the identical little packets to any staff member who happened to walk past with no sense of caring which package went to who, yet they were magnets with the staff’s individual names on them? I mean what are the chances he’d pull one wrapped gift out of the bag, give it to Stevie and it just happened to be the correct one for her?

And another random thought….

Does anyone else find David quite attractive??

@DreamToNightmare yes David is my weird crush, although more so in his Heartbeat days when I would say it isn't a weird crush at all

it was weird, wasnt it? Almost like he was high.

Maybe they're just preparing to write him out via retirement

we can but hope. However, there have been references to his age for well over 10 years.

jay used to call him “Granddad” and he left way back in 2011!

TrashyPanda · 21/08/2022 23:18

You’d think Ollies mum might have wanted some of his stuff.
but she’s been totally forgotten about. As has Rosa, who was really close to him.

Charlie's colleagues must be praying for his retirement by now.
They were dealing with major incidents and hugely busy whilst Charlie was skipping around, dishing out magnets (because we all need another fridge magnet in our lives) twittering on about positive thinking whilst doing absolutely no work!!!
I've worked with people like this myself and it's stressful to say the least!

TrashyPanda · 22/08/2022 11:25

Maybe there is going to be a twist in the SL, which is that Charlie doesn’t actually work there any more and they just let him come in and chat to the patients while they are waiting? He thinks he is working and they are all just playing along cos they feel sorry for him?

Report
Fladdermus · 22/08/2022 11:34

I was confused by the magnets and how he knew which one was Stevie's.

Charlie is as boring as it's possible to be. He hasn't had a proper storyline for years. Time for him to go out in a blaze of glory.

Well Charlie was a Charge Nurse back in 1986 and would have been on the old pension scheme so able to retire at 55

has the Robyn as surrogate storyline been dropped? I do hope so.

I don't think it's been dropped. It's just not progressed yet.
