It wasn't a very good episode last night. It just seems to be endless neurological issues.

I'm not a big fan of Rash but can tolerate him in small doses and I just can't take to Paige at all. Rash was very annoying last night.

It looks like next week starts off with the continuation, I really like David so looking forward to that.

On another note I was very surprised to read that a certain doctor is leaving. (we need a spoiler tab here)...

SoupDragon · 14/08/2022 10:39

Rash was bordering on controlling last night and I never got that from his character before.

SoupDragon · 14/08/2022 10:41

i think there used to be a whole spoiler thread. Although that might have been Holby.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 14/08/2022 11:49

Just caught up with last night’s episode and thought it was frankly bizarre that Rash learned absolutely nothing from the medical situation he was dealing with but instead handled his final conversation with Paige just about as badly as he could have done. Who does he think he is? And if Robyn was my friend and shared my diagnosis with my partner without my permission, I’d go ballistic.

On a minor note, was disappointed to see the way Dylan handed off the patient because she had ‘sensitive female issues’. Given what had actually happened to her, not surprised she wanted a female doctor, but just thought his tone was a bit dismissive and patronising. But I was pleased to see the brother being supportive and reassuring - nicely subverting expectations.

TrashyPanda · 14/08/2022 12:02

At the start, it looked like Ethan was in charge. And he sounded very weak and wishy-washy, not like a leader who has the respect of staff. He might be a good doctor, but he certainly isn’t a leader.

and then Dylan appeared almost at the end. Obviously that was great, cos Dylan is the best character by far, but did make me wonder why he wasnt there at the start, taking charge.

Faiths hair is sooooooo bad.

Paige is still very, very new, so don’t feel invested enough in her character to care. Doesn’t she have any actual pals to go out with, other doctors from her year rather than a work colleague she’s only known a short time?

Sahs parents continually referring to their daughter as “they” and never once do slipping up and saying “she” seemed more than a little unlikely

pretty boring ep.

on Classic Casualty, the wonderful Lily has started. Now there was a great character.

I thought he was trying to be discreet and not say she had been raped.

unvillage · 15/08/2022 00:59

Rash was so uncomfortably over-anxious this ep and Paige is right, they've been together about 5 minutes, how dare he make her medical issues his whole personality. Robyn can get to fuck too, all she needed to say was "nope, not spoke to her lately"

You’re right, it was just his tone of voice threw me, the way he said it rather than him saying it, iyswim

purpleme12 · 15/08/2022 20:19

I felt like the apparent issues between Rash and Paige came out of nowhere.

(No it wasn't one of any missed episodes, I know Pp asked that earlier)

DreamToNightmare · 15/08/2022 20:26

Didn’t really enjoy the episode….Rash was irritating but at the same Paige is a very insignificant character so I have absolutely no interest in the storyline.

I’m glad that next week it’s picking up where it left off in terms of our lovely David.

Snozzlemaid · 16/08/2022 16:42

Very dull episode.
Nothing really happened.

I haven't seen this episode yet as I've been away, but I hope to god there are more female doctors available there than Stevie. Imagine having to have her as your doctor just because she's female, when she is the most insensitive and Uncompassionate doctor around!

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/08/2022 15:53

finally seen last weeks

wish I had read the thread and hadn’t bothered

was a boring one

tho felt for the raped girl

i said before I don’t care about sah

or sadly Paige and rash

And if Robyn was my friend and shared my diagnosis with my partner without my permission, I’d go ballistic.

this big time

gteat to see Dylan at end

Perhaps Jaq Naylor could pop down now Holby's finished 😂

TrashyPanda · 20/08/2022 17:50

If only!

QuattroFromagio · 20/08/2022 18:12

But it wasn't Stevie at least? Even without seeing the episode, I'm invested in making sure this poor victim wasn't subjected to her 'care' after something traumatic!!

DreamToNightmare · 20/08/2022 18:20

I do hate the way that senior female medics are always portrayed to be a bit of a bitch…

Connie Beauchamp….
Jac Naylor….
Stevie…..

The senior male medics aren’t written to have nasty character traits yet the female ones usually are.

It portrays that awful stereotype that women can only reach the top if they are
mean and ruthless. It’s so cliche.

We need the lovely Mo from Holby to come and neutralise the department!

SoupDragon · 20/08/2022 19:11

there have definitely been nasty male medics. There have also been nice, normal female ones. Mostly Holby City ones for both though (but I guess there were more of them). I suppose the implication is that you have to be "ballsy" to make it as a senior female medic.

capedavenger · 20/08/2022 19:19

I really wish they'd left her alive so this could be an option. Even if she only popped in now and then.
Sadly she dead and her organs distributed around the country so she's not coming back 😞

capedavenger · 20/08/2022 19:28

How about Lara stone and Patrick (going back a bit) she was gorgeous, nice and a great doctor, he was an arrogant git.

Also Nick Jordan was a bastard whilst Holly and Alicia were nice, straightforward and good doctors.

So I don't agree with this. I think both Casualty and Holby City do a good job of writing tough, complicated, high achieving female characters which I enjoy seeing.

I will take your word for it as I have no idea who any of those people are 😂

AnImaginaryCat · 20/08/2022 21:20

I'm slightly confused by David clearing out Olly's room. Why is there an Olly room when David moved out of the house?

Did he leave the house as is, move into a flat, then back to the house after the flat blew up?

Or did he set up Ollie's room exactly as its was in the blown up flat? Despite not having done the rest of the flat (before it blew up that is)

I was confused about that as well but wasn't completely concentrating so thought I might have missed which house he was at.

Casualty has gone back to the old formula of highlighting the problems within the NHS its strangely comforting.

Still no answer as to what's in Ollie's notebook though.

TrashyPanda · 20/08/2022 22:24

So was Charlie displaying signs of confusion and absent-mindedness? He just seemed really peculiar, wandering around an extremely busy department, but not actually doing anything, his reactions were really slow and he se3med to fumble for words.
did he get the lady who collapsed booked in, or did he just stick her in the corner and forget about her?

is this him showing signs of dementia?

SoupDragon · 20/08/2022 22:43

I'm also confused about David & Ollie's room!

Charlie has always been a bit vague hasn't he? Surely they wouldn't go down the dementia route with him? Maybe they're just preparing to write him out via retirement.
