I actually really enjoyed that episode I also don’t usually enjoy specific character centric episodes but it was well done and a relatable subject matter addiction after sexual assault/rape, Maybe as I can relate

Suedomin · 02/04/2023 10:45

Why did Sascha mention Lofty but not him?
i think because lofty worked with Sasha and was married to Dom so he knew him very well.Max has always worked on A&E hadn't he? So Sasha won't know him so well.

DrHousecuredme · 02/04/2023 10:56

Isn't it bizarre though that script writers wouldn't stop and think "oh she had relatives who were in the show, I'll stick a quick line in to explain why they aren't here"
I do always wonder this, if the audience notice this why do the script writers struggle?

I can only assume there's been a turnover of script writers and the new ones didn't watch the show before they got the job. Can't imagine why else missing information or errors could occur.

Though you'd think that they would keep a profile of each character wouldn't you? (Or even, these days, look at Casualty wiki!)

DrHousecuredme · 02/04/2023 11:09

Yes 😆 it's not difficult to get hold of information nowadays. Poor Robin, they killed her off the least they could do is have one last look at her wiki page!

TrashyPanda · 02/04/2023 11:44

Things like Charlie needing reading glasses is basic continuity. there was a running storyline a few years back about him getting his glasses -
and then they disappear.

the likelihood of anyone in their mid 70s not needing reading glasses is pretty small! But then they seem to overlook that a doddery-looking 75 year old working in a busy ED is highly improbable.

JustDanceAddict · 02/04/2023 12:35

Was Luca cured of his brain tumour as he seems to be running about like he never had anything wrong with him!

Yes he had that proton beam therapy that they had to fight the hospital for. It was amazing actually, he was cured instantly with no relapses, by the acceptance letter.
It must be good stuff 😝

Oh yes, sort of remember that now!!

I think doing a retrospective 'how Faith ended up on drugs' episode would be very poor. The setup of it all was so clunky. They really need to do better than that. And yes, we need more 'guess the injury/guess what's going on' episodes.

And clunky it continued to be. If Faith has been falling apart over the past year and nicking tranquillisers all over the place, how come there has been no sign of it till the last two episodes? Is their drugs control so poor that no-one has ever noticed the missing diazepam?

pointythings · 02/04/2023 18:49

@Quia last night's episode was just bad, bad, bad. It feels like it was shoehorned in because they haven't got new storylines or new characters ready. I normally forgive Casualty a great deal, but this was probably the worst episode I've seen in a long time.

LouisCatorze · 02/04/2023 19:27

Faith's initital encounter with that guy must have been getting on for two years ago? Ridiculous that they've only just picked up on it.

Apparently it was last January.

Faith’s hair and voice irritate me so much that I found a whole episode dedicated to her really difficult.

TrashyPanda · 02/04/2023 21:13

@TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross - me too.

unvillage · 04/04/2023 23:19

Maybe watching classic Casualty sours it a bit (although we're at 2018 now so not too long ago) but the Faith rape feels very similar to what happened with Alicia and Eddie. Added drugs make it more interesting I suppose. I like Faith but feel a little drained by her.

Shame the nurse walkout wasn't mentioned at all. I don't suppose it will be now.

Ballsaque · 04/04/2023 23:40

I haven’t read the last couple of pages but saw on IG that Barney Walsh is joining. I didn’t even know he was an actor?!

He was in The Larkins with his dad.

Ballsaque · 05/04/2023 08:30

@LIZS I didn’t know that.

I’ve only seen him on Breaking Dad (also with his Dad!). He seems like such a lovely person.

looking forward to some new characters.

Ballsaque · 05/04/2023 08:31

I agree that the Faith drug storyline seems to have been sprung on us. No build up whatsoever.

JustDanceAddict · 05/04/2023 08:37

Ooh I love Barney Walsh - ‘Barnes’. Will look forward to that.
Also thought the episode was ridiculously shoe-horned in.

I've just caught up. Faith didn't know either until she got the script 🤣

purpleme12 · 06/04/2023 23:12

I quite like how they've just told us about Faith's problem now and how she's managed to hide it actually.

Wondering if I'm the only one on this thread who thinks this

SgtCatherineCawood · 06/04/2023 23:20

I think if there'd been subtle hints planted that you don't think anything of at the time then yeah it would have been a good storyline.

This feels like it's been shoehorned in in an oh crap we need to fill some episodes before the new nurses start type way

Just my opinion 😊

TrashyPanda · 07/04/2023 09:44

@SgtCatherineCawood - I agree. It just felt false.
I did wonder why her “off the rails” storyline ended so abruptly - but that isn’t unusual for Casualty. Remember the Charlie “catfishing” SL that just died?
