Should add when I say spoilers I mean more than who the new cast is.

LIZS · 25/03/2023 22:18

No new nurses yet. Did anyone grasp who was wanting to "contact" Jacob?

Omo - his mum.

Spidey66 · 25/03/2023 22:29

F*cking he'll, Faith!

Spidey66 · 25/03/2023 22:30

I meant hell. Damn you autocorrect!

spiderlight · 26/03/2023 00:01

Has there been any inkling whatsoever about Faith using diazepam?

bizzey · 26/03/2023 00:35

Why did she crush it ?
Is it a quicker fix or something that way ?

DaisyStarburst · 26/03/2023 07:58

Is it worth watching anymore? I never watched Holby so don't know anyone from there, I loved David and I love Dylan but jut not sure I want to watch it anymore. Didn't watch it last night but did record it in case you persuaded me it was worth it.

LouisCatorze · 26/03/2023 09:26

It seems to have picked up a bit recently, I'd say? Although some of the stories seem to be coming out of nowhere, like Faith's drug misuse.

So Jacob has gone too? The clear-out of the nurses (and 'new blood') may mark a turning point in the drama.

Whether it's for the better, we'll just have to watch and see.

RedRiverShore3 · 26/03/2023 09:48

I stopped watching about November as it got really bad then but have caught up again this week, I started watching from when the new Dr Max came into it in February and there was a couple of good episodes to keep me watching. Looking forward to the new recruits coming in.

I have watched it from the start and I wonder if I thought those first series were so good in the 80s and 90s because there wasn't so much on telly then so a bit rose tinted spectacles.

AnImaginaryCat · 26/03/2023 10:48

How odd that Fsith suddenly has a drug problem.

You know what I've never checked - has there been a high number of writers in the last few years? Could explain the sudden personality chances in characters and inconsistencies in storylines.

Though I stand by the reason it's not as good as it used to be is the endless focus on staff stories. Same thing week to week. Like now we have Max being a cock and antagonising Dylan and we'll probably get that ad nauseum.

The format of old was to open with several different stories of potential patients where each week you had maybe three different stories were you had would try guess what was going to happen to cause them to end up in Holby.

Those of you knocking around these Casualty threads for a while will recall we referenced it years ago as "#bringbackthechainsaw".

CatLadyDrinksGin · 26/03/2023 13:12

Jacob called it holby general in his letter- surely it’s always been holby city hospital (and St James is the other one)?!

Also don’t get why faith crushed the diazepam- I’ve got friends who use it regularly (prescribed!) and always swallow the tablets whole.

It’s getting more and more ridiculous. Bring back Guess The Injury at the beginning with dodgy farm equipment and people on ladders near a glass ceiling!

LouisCatorze · 26/03/2023 14:12

I thought Faith was snorting it (like cocaine) not taking it orally.

spiderlight · 26/03/2023 14:39

It looks like next week's is going to be a retrospective Faith episode so all will become clear.

I do miss the good old guess-the-injury days. So much better. There are only so many crises the staff can have!

pointythings · 26/03/2023 15:13

I think doing a retrospective 'how Faith ended up on drugs' episode would be very poor. The setup of it all was so clunky. They really need to do better than that. And yes, we need more 'guess the injury/guess what's going on' episodes.

Hellocatshome · 26/03/2023 16:54

The whole point of casualty was will the drunken farmer get run over by his tractor, crushed by a cow or fall on a rusty spike. Without that its nothing to me.

bizzey · 26/03/2023 19:28

Wow !!

TrashyPanda · 26/03/2023 21:38

So that’s the end of Jacob?

never known so many to leave at one time. Plus Ethan, who went a few weeks ago. Do they know something we don’t?

really clumsy the way Charlie was shoehorned in, first as being more grief stricken than anyone else, then giving the eulogy. As if. Surely Paul, or her father, or Max would have done that?

unvillage · 26/03/2023 23:12

Robyn's funeral and zero mention of her brother or her bestie Jamie. They mentioned Lofty last week and I guess Marty took over from Jamie, but Max surely would have been there and several people knew him. Fairly sure even Rash met him.

As for nurses, I'm devastated that David has gone just like that and worried about his "I'll try" - who has that man got, his son is dead and wives are out of the picture, it really felt hopeless.

I think Tess is done, she didn't seem to enjoy it when she came back after Duffy died. Fletch would be good, his story progressed a lot in Holby after his wife died.

There's also Sue who has been a background character for decades, she was in this week's in fact. Make her main cast already! We haven't seen Tash for a while I don't think, another background nurse. Wayne is still around but not sure Kojo still is. I think centring those named background characters would be fun.

unvillage · 26/03/2023 23:15

oh hang on just read the spoiler article, haha heck yeah great news

Quia · 27/03/2023 00:24

Yet again, don't they have an HR department at Hobby? Why on earth are they happy to let the staff in A&E routinely walk out without giving notice?

bizzey · 30/03/2023 19:15

Did anyone see that Casualty won a TV award ?

LIZS · 31/03/2023 11:39

Thanks @spiderlight , she is just being introduced in the older series on Drama.

TrashyPanda · 01/04/2023 22:47

I really dislike episodes that are all about a staff member and patients are mere accessories to the story.

absolutely no mention of the fact that all the nurses bar Faith and Charlie have left!

plus Charlie managing to read small print without his specs!
