I wasn't expecting that at the end!!

Hellocatshome · 11/03/2023 21:48

I feel like Robyn must have done something terrible in a past life she seems to lurch from one disaster to another.

JustDanceAddict · 11/03/2023 21:59

I knew she wouldn’t make it home!

LIZS · 11/03/2023 22:02

Poor Robyn

spiderlight · 11/03/2023 22:06

I know!! I was hoping she'd have a better send-off than that, and now what will happen to Charlotte?

That old lady dying under the 'Sorry to see you go' banner though 😢

Whatthetrolley · 11/03/2023 23:56

Poor Robyn.

I was surprised that Jacob had the authority to dictate when ambulances could be released. Thought it would be a Max job.

Hellocatshome · 12/03/2023 08:55

Jacob was on a proper power trip. He closed the ED to all but critical patients (can he even do that?) Then tried to stop them bringing in a patient with an arterial bleed who was going straight to theater anyway so would take up zero room in the ED.

AnImaginaryCat · 12/03/2023 10:17

Couldn't quite grasp why everyone was shouting at Jacob. Where were the patients supposed to go? Why was it his fault?

Poor Robyn - do you think they'll kill her off?

CatLadyDrinksGin · 12/03/2023 10:20

Does Holby trust not have access to digital patient summary records? Surely they’d register each patient and see their history and the lad with the fake leukaemia would have been discovered much earlier?

It would be a regional decision. Not quite sure of the latest arrangements but a few years ago the hospital would ask the PCT and the PCT would apply to the Strategic Health Authority team on their behalf.

A "divert" can (OK could) be agreed for a few hours. However for it to be agreed, there has to be a less busy hospital (there is a live score of busyness/acuity of people in A&E nationally) to divert to. So fictional Holby would only be granted the divert if St James was less busy. Given the ambulance queues that's unlikely.

So no, not Jacob's call. Assume Robyn will be deaded and Jacob will have his breakdown.

Leaving Charlie, David, Faith and Marty to run the dept. What could possibly go wrong?

Whatthetrolley · 12/03/2023 13:15

Thanks for confirming in the real world it wouldn't happen like that but back in the world of Casualty anything goes!

MrsLighthouse · 12/03/2023 15:16

Guaranteed when actors in dramas start talking about what a wonderful future they’ll have together …something bad is going to happen 😲

daffodilandtulip · 12/03/2023 20:24

How cringe was the faith and Iain kissing in the lockers moment 🤣

Indeed. He certainly gets around doesn't he. And she had put her makeup on by the time they got outside.

They talked about diverting though (which I assume means sending everyone to other hospitals) and argued against it. This was a closure to non-critical patients. Which, well, the guy with the femoral artery bleed was clearly critical. I might be wrong and diverting means something else. Either way with the ambulances piled up outside it didn't mean much in the end. I've thought that they might kill Robyn several times in the last decade but didn't expect it this episode.

Jacob is on a mad power trip and it's sad to watch. I never liked the character that much but he at least was always compassionate.

purpleme12 · 12/03/2023 23:19

I think it was supposed to show how the pressure that management/budgets etc are making him not even be himself anymore

MrsLighthouse · 13/03/2023 07:00

Faith and Ian snogging like inexperienced teenagers …yuck 😝 glad they’ve finally got it together though.

Peachyqueen · 18/03/2023 21:44

Well, bye bye Robyn. Can't say I'll miss you!

AnImaginaryCat · 18/03/2023 21:46

Well. That wasn't very happy was it.

Though it's good they added the light humoured scene of Charlie's comedy collapse.

Also it's not Jacob's fault. Surely to hell the staff would know that. (Was hoping the silver lining was Charlie had gone forever. But oh no he came back to vacantly stare.)

LIZS · 18/03/2023 21:50

Poor Charlotte. Anyone else expecting it to all be Charlie's delirious dream? Especially the scratch theatre team. What happened to Connie's trauma theatre?

I was thinking that. The trauma theatre only seems to be used for Ethan doing secret surgery on Connie.

Hellocatshome · 18/03/2023 22:50

Well I'm pretty sure that whole surgery must have broken quite a few rules I'm not sure you can just grab a few people who may have done some work in theatre/anesthetics a long time ago and start opening people up.

daffodilandtulip · 18/03/2023 23:04

Charlie must beat some record for "nearly leaving" times.

spiderlight · 18/03/2023 23:20

So is that it for Marty and David as well as Robyn? There'll be nobody left at this rate! It'll just be 50 minutes of Stevie being sarcastic while Charlie and Jacob compete for the Most Wooden Actor award in the background.

It was nice to see Sascha though. Made me miss Holby City. 😥
