The thing about the baby issue was the suggestion that it was particularly hard for Robyn because Charlotte. But if it's hard for any parent, on that basis it should have been hard for Faith, Charlie, Ethan, Connie, David, Duffy, and countless more over time.

Exactly.

it’s another of the infamous Casualty “wait a minute” moments.

like Ethan suddenly not needing his glasses.

or Charlie needing glasses to read, but not to put in cannulas, do stitches etc. and then they did away with his glasses entirely.

or Elle and Jacob meeting after many years. Then all change as Jacob has been involved with Blake (and the other boys) all their lives.

Were any of those other people in the scene? No. It was just Robyn and Paul. the others are irrelevant. no one is saying the others haven't found it difficult but this scene simply has Robyn in it. They're hardly going to reference all parents are they?

they've shown plenty of characters struggling with assorted scenarios over the years.

Quia · 22/02/2023 09:17

SoupDragon · 21/02/2023 09:41

Obviously. Except it was Robyn who was the focus of the scene, not the others.

But if it was such a given that parents will be upset on having to deal with a baby, it really is weird that over the million years that Casualty has been on it has never been suggested that staff members who are parents are massively struggling or should be kept away from child patients. Do all medics who are parents in RL go all weepy every time they see a child in pain?

EBearhug · 22/02/2023 09:53

It's usually one of their own children in Casualty anyway. Perhaps it was just shock at dealing with a child not related to any member of staff...

SoupDragon · 22/02/2023 10:00

🙄 no one said she should not treat kids, just that it was difficult 😂

They've often had bits of story where someone has checked if a character is OK with a scenario or that they must find it hard. Just like they do on the real life Ambulance fly on the wall programme.

SoupDragon · 22/02/2023 10:01

This is bonkers.

SoupDragon · 22/02/2023 10:08

Charlotte had to have life saving surgery shortly after her birth which won't have helped.

Nice one!

purpleme12 · 24/02/2023 12:06

It's a bit strange that they've got a new character called Max when there was one previously called Max too

Very true.

It must be written into staff contracts at Holby Hospital that you must offer up yourself and most of your relatives as patients in A&E within at most 3 years of taking up employment there.

Wasn't the other Max in Holby City rather than Casualty? Even though they were meant to be the same hospital and there were sometimes cross-over characters.

IRL, there are often shared first names. We had too many Petes and Daves and Jameses at work.

LIZS · 24/02/2023 23:12

No Max, Robyn's brother, married to Zoe Hanna, was in Casualty

bizzey · 24/02/2023 23:28

There was a Max in Holby though as well.

A bit of a womaniser !

TrashyPanda · 24/02/2023 23:41

Casualty had Max Gallagher as Clinical Director when Baz left.

purpleme12 · 24/02/2023 23:43

Oh yes so two people called Max before now actually!
Perhaps they've used up all the names now so starting to recycle 😂

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/02/2023 14:37

Finally seen. Always late

All the time watching I was thinking I recognised max but couldn't place him

At end dad his name. Google and course EASTENDERS

Think it was his posh accent that threw me as didn't sound like Dennis - plus didn't he die when shaz was preg so like 14/15 yrs ago

Marcus is so gas lighting STEVIE

Almost feel sorry for her now as before we hated her

How the hell can a doctor who wasn't even meant to be at Holly suddenly become acting manager

Doesn't make sense

But we know nothing makes sense at that hospital over notice etx

They had two Sams at the same time at one point - Dylan's ex-wife briefly overlapped with Sam Strachan from Holby when he came back from America and was acting something-or-other in Casualty.

LIZS · 25/02/2023 21:53

Can Stevie not recover the evidence from Eloise's phone? What did she plan to do with it?

TrashyPanda · 25/02/2023 23:01

She could try restoring her own phone too

RJnomore1 · 25/02/2023 23:17

I miss Connie.

daffodilandtulip · 26/02/2023 09:01

I can't decide if max is going to be a goodie or a badie.

Glad that Stevie finally stood up to that horrible man. It was so out of character that she was so pathetic around him, running back to be all needy and in love with him.

Whatthetrolley · 26/02/2023 09:23

My first thought was that the photos would be saved in "a cloud" somewhere so gone from the phone but not gone forever?

MrsLighthouse · 26/02/2023 10:35

I hope Marcus leaves Stevie alone now and she tells Faith everything !

Dylan knows something about Max ..interested to see how it unfolds . Not loving Max’s character yet ..his random ( not great acting ) shouting is putting me off.

I like that they showed a strong woman being fucked up by a wrong 'un. The myth that only weak people are victims of abuse is too pervasive.

AnImaginaryCat · 26/02/2023 10:53

I think 4th Max is supposed to be a goodun just no nonsense and reactive.

Problem is he's not a great actor.
