Ohh yes ..we are due a new doctor.

Where is Rash ?
Is he on extended leave to look after his dad or has he gone for good as well ?

It really is extraordinary how someone goes from being determined to apply for an award to go travelling to further his career to shelving his career altogether within the space of a few hours. Surely basic maturity tells you to give yourself time to think and investigate your options?

And yes, it's amazing how little they care about proper notice periods at Holby, despite regularly whinging about being understaffed and overworked. You can bet they will appoint Ethan's replacement without bothering to go through any sort of fair recruitment process, either.

To be fair, one half of his childcare arrangement did have a heart attack and nearly died. Kind of the right time for making a life changing decision.

spiderlight · 06/02/2023 16:51

We might get two new doctors if Stevie is offered the award (were there only the two of them up for it?)

AnImaginaryCat · 06/02/2023 18:54

I feel like we haven't had much focus on Jacob, nice to have more of him. Need more Rash too (but not just about his father).

The award involved significant travelling and Fenisha's dad made it very clear they were no longer able to care for Bodhi. What other choice did Ethan have? If Fenisha was still around then it would be totally different but he is a single dad through bereavement, all of his own family are dead, and now health concerns mean that Bodhi's grandparents aren't able to take care of him any more. Ethan doesn't have a choice in the matter.

He also only has limited time before his Huntington's begins, hopefully when Bodhi is much older, but he has a limited lifespan and clearly wants to make the absolute most of the time he has left. He should've done this when Fenisha died.

Patineur · 07/02/2023 00:58

Ethan has the same sort of choice that lots of working parents have - the obvious one here would be getting a nanny for immediate purposes and talking to the people giving the award about, say, putting off the travelling till someone is sorted out, even if it means taking Bodhi and the nanny with him. This storyline is quite apposite given that it's happening at the same time as "Maternal" is on featuring three female medics juggling similar problems.

Yes, his Huntingdon's is a factor, but surely that would also have put him off applying for the award in the first place if it was an important factor - it doesn't seem to have weighed on him up to now at all.

I know that, after giving it a bit of thought, he might well come to the same conclusion. None of that explains why he gave his decision virtually no thought at all, to the extent of even ignoring his contractual notice requirements and the fact that he was leaving his colleagues in the lurch.

SoupDragon · 07/02/2023 07:36

I think his MIL's health issues brought his own into sharp focus and made him reevaluate his life and what is important.

ThingsChristmasJumper · 07/02/2023 20:36

Advert for the new Dr on my Instagram.

Spidey66 · 08/02/2023 11:46

Oohh I know who's the next doctor. All I'm saying is they used to be in one of the popular soaps

purpleme12 · 08/02/2023 15:53

Can we not say who it is then?

LIZS · 08/02/2023 16:04

Spoilers!

daffodilandtulip · 08/02/2023 21:54

I feel like their Instagram takes spoilers a bit too far...

purpleme12 · 08/02/2023 22:03

Ah I don't even know him anyway!

TrashyPanda · 10/02/2023 09:21

We had to laugh as Ethan’s eyes filled up with tears. Again.
he must hold the record for most tears shed on tv.
so predictable.

about time he he started to put his kid first, instead of expecting his inlaws to do the parenting for him.

It was frankly unrealistic of him to apply for a travelling fellowship while sole parent to a small child.

Optimist1 · 11/02/2023 11:28

Two episodes tonight!

BabsDylan · 11/02/2023 14:10

Two episodes tonight!

Good news but doesn’t make up for all the episodes we’ve missed.

Blondeshavemorefun · 11/02/2023 15:37

For once I'm up to date and ready for tonight's

Tho a week late watching last weeks

For once I thought it was a good episode

Minus the lack of notice but they never give notice. We know that 😂

So the suited man stole STEVIE usb thingy

Yes a nanny would be the obvious choice for Ethan

But obv a cost

He will be back one day

So the Down syndrome boys granny is abusing him ? Something to do with the care hole

Poor little boy with acid on him. Scarred for life

Glad Jacob was brave to meet May

But shame he couldn't tell her the way he told his friend to tell

Shame his friends new bf wasn't supportive

Has Faith got new teeth? She looks different. And what's with all the weird beams of light?

LIZS · 11/02/2023 21:00

We've seen that quarry before!

Hellocatshome · 11/02/2023 21:33

I've worked out what Dillan's new hair reminds me of. It s lego man hair!

trythisforsize · 11/02/2023 21:37

I just popped casualty on whilst waiting for the next Curb your Enthusiasm to start - can't believe how dreadful the acting is, they're all so wooden. I thought I'd try and get into it but I just can't.

AnImaginaryCat · 12/02/2023 11:23

Has Marty not been in it for ages? He suddenly appeared and I felt like they'd brought back a character who had left years ago. Took me a while to remember he was a current character.

Finding Marcus irksome (admittedly probably the aim) but can he be the next to leave please.

SoupDragon · 12/02/2023 12:30

Marty was in it a few episodes ago which is ages ago!). He wasn't blond then though 😂

SoupDragon · 12/02/2023 12:32

What is Stevie's ex up to? Originally I thought he was gunning for Dylan so Stevie could have his job but now they've split up and he's writing fake bad reviews for her I've no idea what he's trying to achieve. Is he trying to destroy the ED completely?

LIZS · 12/02/2023 13:05

He's trying to "save" her career so she is somehow grateful. Creating drama and negative feeling, such as manufacturing the "complaint", sabotaging her presentation, online reviews which he will suddenly resolve. Tbh she is equally dislikable so not sure why we care or why she cannot see through it, Why are all the hospital management characters incompetent or conniving?
