And he is anti Dylan because he is probing the care facility he has a financial interest in.

SoupDragon · 12/02/2023 13:37

He was anti Dylan before the carehome stuff. it's all ridiculous TBH. I mean they're short of doctors and he's trying to ruin the two senior ones 😂

exactly what I expect from Casualty mind you. I'd be disappointed if it all made sense.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 12/02/2023 14:31

That last episode was really bloody grim. Did they really have to be so graphic?

LavenderHillMob · 12/02/2023 14:51

Years ago there was an element of educating the public through the drama. Particular episodes were planned to co-incide with public health campaigns to raise awareness of key messages.

Last night's episode would have been a prime opportunity to publicise what three words for example.* Or - in child mental health week - to focus more on the consequences of online bullying.

But no. Ridiculous drama with Marcus instead.

*What three words can be used off line to identify a location. Then passed to the emergency services as soon as signal is available. Would have been a good opportunity to showcase it.

LIZS · 12/02/2023 14:51

It was handy he had a penknife open within reach! Funny to remember that but apparently no phone etc.

LIZS · 12/02/2023 14:53

Maybe the random scheduling makes plot tie-ins more tricky, although I think someone referred to February.

SoupDragon · 12/02/2023 15:01

I think he did have a phone but there was no signal. Plus the battery would have been dead after 3 days (especially if it was an iPhone! 😂)

not sure whose knife it was and who on earth goes out running with a knife anyway? It doesn't make sense for either of them to have had one.

I couldn't watch the "surgery" part - the sound effects were bad enough! I did snigger slightly when some on in the ED said "is there a foot missing?" or something when Jacob staggered in.

Hellocatshome · 12/02/2023 15:16

And why couldn't Jacob just run back to wherever he had come from where there was presumably signal instead of running around in circles seemingly lost.

Xol · 12/02/2023 15:27

I got the impression that after running a bit and getting no signal Jacob decided to go back. Which was utterly illogical. He'd just run from some sort of civilisation to get to where he found the patient, surely all he had to do was continue going back in the direction he came from till he got a signal - he must have known how far that would be.

I also didn't understand why he had to carry the poor sod into A&E. Surely it would have made more sense to phone ahead so people were waiting for them with a stretcher, or at the very least to have run in to get a stretcher and more people to help?

Xol · 12/02/2023 15:29

So is Marcus's evil plan to put Stevie in as clinical lead and have her being eternal grateful to him? Doesn't anyone else have a say in these appointments?

Xol · 12/02/2023 15:30

eternally grateful, not eternal

Ah but he had to carry him into the hospital over his shoulder otherwise he wouldn't look like a hero.

SoupDragon · 12/02/2023 15:37

Plus, wouldn't they read the reviews during the "recruitment"* process? Otherwise, what is the point of them?

  • I use the word in its loosest possible sense !
Blondeshavemorefun · 12/02/2023 19:53

Seen the first one

Obv the suited man who seems to do bugger all is stirring with Stevie and faith

Sure he told the mum to complain

I don't like him

All these posts just seem to be picking holes with yesterday's second episode.
I was in the edge seat with it shouting at the Tele!
I was disgusted with Marcus!

Xol · 13/02/2023 08:36

It's not picking holes - the glaring holes were there for all to see. It's so frustrating when a character acts totally irrationally purely for the purposes of injecting some artificial tension/heroism into the plot.

SoupDragon · 13/02/2023 08:41

I couldn't work out why Jacob kept pausing in his run to look around as if he'd never seen the area before. He'd just run in! I mean, pausing to check signal made sense but he looked genuinely baffled as to where he was.

spiderlight · 13/02/2023 08:45

The foot amputation with a handy pen-knife was based on a real event: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aron_Ralston There's a film of it called '127 Hours', which is utterly gripping but not for the faint-hearted.

SoupDragon · 13/02/2023 08:47

I couldn't even watch the Casualty version! 😂

I'm not saying there aren't holes. Personally, I don't get riled up about potholes though unless it's characters acting not in line with who they are etc.
It's just that there was loads of posts just pulling at potholes whereas I thought it was such an edge of your seat episode.
But perhaps everyone else on here didn't think that

I watched it on Casualty but I have to say it was a really hard watch! And I'm not squeamish

But 127 Hours is different as I know it's reality so I'm not sure I'd want to watch that!

Xol · 13/02/2023 09:51

I think it destroys the tension when it becomes really improbable, because it becomes obvious that the characters are acting ridiculously only to create suspense. If Jacob had just carried on till he got a signal on his phone, which can't have been too far, there's have been no need for the whole penknife amputation/heroic shoulder carry.

daffodilandtulip · 13/02/2023 15:43

I expected to see the new doctor after all the Instagram hype.

purpleme12 · 13/02/2023 16:06

Well I thought it was tense!
