Sitcoms/Shows with Perfect Endings

Frasier has just aired its final episode for the umpteenth time this morning on C4.

I always enjoy the last episode: it's nostalgic, ties up everyone's stories in a satisfying way and sees Frasier 'go get the girl'.

It occurs to me that it's a rare thing to have a show or sitcom end without being divisive and broadly loved by the fans.

Are there any other shows that people feel are well done in terms of finales and endings?

HIMYM being a good example of one almost universally poorly received!

Friends did it quite well I think.

Only Fools and Horses was perfect until they brought it back.

Best ending ever was Six Feet Under (obviously not a sitcom). Amazing.

Schitt's Creek

Big Bang Theory was okay except for Penny being pregnant 🙄

I don’t like the ending of Frasier, if he felt things were over for him in Seattle why not have him move back to Boston where he could be a present dad to Frederick?
It didn’t help that the Laura Linney love interest was a weak character, he had much better and well fleshed our girlfriends before- Lana for example.

MrsElm · 01/06/2022 10:22

Blackadder. Poignant and inspired.

Came here to say Six Feet Under. The most perfect ending to a series.

I wasn't a big fan of the ending of friends but realise I'm in the minority here! I felt the whole season was rushed and Ross and Rachel together at the end just felt forced.

But it did a good job of appealing to the fan base for sure!

Blackadder Goes Forth. Immaculate.

Twinstudy · 01/06/2022 10:26

Blackadder was perfect.

And, obviously not a sitcom, but the Sopranos.

Agree totally with this! It seemed to be totally at odds with her character throughout the series - why does every female character have to have/want children? I would also add that I would have preferred it to end with Raj having met someone aswell but apart from both of those, it was a fantastic ending 😊

flapjackfairy · 01/06/2022 10:31

the office US . brilliant !

Blackadder Goes Forth was the first thing I thought of: I see I'm not alone!

Lana was great-have you watched Hacks? It's got Jean Smart in it and she is fantastic and like Lana on steroids in it!

I'm on the fence with this one. I felt it went downhill when Michael Scott left and Andy became a total caricature.

The last two episodes were great and I loved Steve Carrells return 'that's what she said' but hated what they did to Andy which overshadowed it for me.
