I looked up the Stephen actor because I was puzzled by his accent, which I presume is supposed to be Canadian?

His upbringing explains the faint Australian twang I heard at first amidst the North American.

And of course, no trace of the years in Milan. Not a single word, phrase or ‘tell’. It’s a Potter/Platt thing, to be impervious to anything Milanese.

To be fair, I’m not sure I could handle any of the cast of Corrie trying to sound Italian. I’m imagining the Dolmio advert without the subtlety.

Talking of adverts, I spotted Emma’s boyfriend (Jon?) on the Shell Energy advert the other day. He was still pulling that inane grin he had through his entire stint in Corrie.

I'm rather hoping that Sarah and Stephen have to conduct one of those daftie loud whispered secret conversations in the corner of an open room, 'away' from the prying ears of Gail and David and Shona and Audrey and Max; when in RL they would just chat in Italian.

I would so love it if they actually did give them a scene with some Italian-speaking in it, but they never did with Sarah and Bethany so I can't see it happening now.

It's like they didn't live in Milan, they went to Mexborough.

If they would even discuss pasta in the bistro with the odd Italian sounding sauce it would be a start.

Bethany spent nearly all her early childhood in Milan and came back speaking broad Manchester without a trace of an Italian accent

Watching the classic episodes has made me notice all the more that the wardrobe department seems to ignore the seasons these days. A couple of months ago it was summer in Classic Corrie, so Curly and Emma were off on holiday in shorts and T-shirts. Now we’ve come to winter and everyone is in big jumpers, heavy coats etc.

In the modern episodes, no one ever seems to wear anything seasonal. Characters are still walking about in hoodies and long sleeves in the middle of June. I know the wardrobe department couldn’t have predicted a major heatwave, but it’s not a great leap of the imagination to think that June might be warm.

Maria is the one that gets me. It could be a heatwave, Arctic blizzards or anything in between, and she’d still be in the same long green coat.

Ryan Thomas left, I believe, probably to be with his family. Him not getting an exit storyline was ridiculous. Soohie and rosie both left with pathetic storylines.

I think you’re confusing him with someone else - Jason did get an exit storyline. He left to go travelling because he wrongly believed his dad had murdered Callum - and Callum’s friends were supposedly out for revenge.

Yes it was the original Todd -Bruno Langley who had his contract terminated as he was convicted of sexual assault.

Sumin tried to accept the deal with the surgeon - got him to ‘transfer’ the money to Peter’s account and handed him the dictaphone Peter used to record the surgeons confession. Except the surgeon didn’t really transfer the money

They did have Sarah say a line in Italian once - shooting down Sean or someone in the factory. It took me by surprise (I speak Italian).
