Checking in!

Ok so this is probably annoying because it's on prime rather than Netflix and it's spies rather than crime but The Bureau is really good. It's French.

On Netflix Fauda is supposed to be good but I haven't got round to watching it yet.

The Mess You Leave Behind. Spanish with subtitles.

Just wanted to say that To the Lake is absolutely brilliant. It’s up there in my top 10.

FrancescaContini · 15/04/2022 09:07

I loved Follow the Money on iplayer a couple of years ago (Danish) - complex and gripping.

Also thoroughly enjoyed When the Dust Settles (Danish too) on Walter Presents Channel 4 (google - it’s an excellent source of foreign drama categorised by language).

Capitani - set in Luxembourg. So interesting. I loved it.

Awrite · 15/04/2022 09:10

Deadwind - set in Helsinki. Excellent.

Awrite · 15/04/2022 09:13

Darkness: Those who kill and Blinded: Those who kill are both on iPlayer. Danish I think.

Yes, agree that these are also very gripping but definitely NOT for the faint hearted - some very disturbing scenes.
Awrite · 15/04/2022 09:14

Also, there was a Danish one called DNA which was ok.

Agree @FrancescaContini. However, op has watched The Chestnut man. That scared me witless. Grin

Awrite · 15/04/2022 09:20

Final one from me (for now) is The Investigation. It's the true story of the Swedish journalist who was murdered on the submarine and the efforts to prove the killer was guilty. Sombre telling of what happened. Sympathetic to the victim and her family.

Violetparis · 15/04/2022 09:22

The Woods on Netflix is good, it's a Polish drama based on a Harlan Coben novel. The Twelve and Snow Angels on Walter Presents on Channel 4 are good. And DNA on BBC Four.

Never heard of this - might NOT be for me 😂

Great thread, I've enjoyed

Beyond Evil - Korean
Cracow Monsters - Polish
The Rain - Danish
Currently watching Katla - Icelandic

We loved To the Lake too, I keep hoping for a second series

FrancescaContini · 15/04/2022 09:25

Trapped (Icelandic) was superb. Iplayer, I think.

Minoloso · 15/04/2022 09:27

Watching with interest!

So many! But my all time favourites would be

The killing
The bridge
Spiral
Der Pass

Kaftankween · 15/04/2022 09:37

Not exactly the same genre but a crime documentary- The Staircase is really a fantastic, gripping show.

This bored me, but I think I'm in the minority!

We are really enjoying Lupin. It's French and stars Omar Sy.
