Spiral is amazing. Gripping and wonderful characters.

mycatisannoying · 15/04/2022 09:49

La Mante was really good!

XelaM · 15/04/2022 09:49

Gone for Good (it's one of the Harlan Coben series) - French but it's also dubbed if you want the English version

FayKnights · 15/04/2022 09:50

‘Criminal’ I watched the UK version and was chuffed to find that there are other versions in French, German and Spanish. All different stories.

@hopperrock - I've watched Fauda. It's excellent. More about terrorism than a detective series but brilliant nonetheless.

Which reminds me - Blackspace is fascinating. About a school shooting in Israel. Eye opener on how teens live in Israel. Probably not realistic. I think I might have fancied the detective a bit so stuck with it.

But the best foreign crime/thriller I have probably ever seen is "The Invisible Guest" on Netflix. It's absolutely outstanding!

Bitter Daisies (Galician)

BeyondMyWits · 15/04/2022 10:00

Young Wallander is good. Just finished series 2, and it is still good. Based in Sweden, but in English, but very Swedish...

Hiroe · 15/04/2022 10:02

The Rain, Störst av allt, Snabba cash

Hiroe · 15/04/2022 10:02

Kalifat

Hiroe · 15/04/2022 10:03

Red dot was ok too

valerianaofficiana · 15/04/2022 10:05

The Bridge, Swedish/ Norwegian, fantastic.

Final one from me (for now) is The Investigation. It's the true story of the Swedish journalist who was murdered on the submarine and the efforts to prove the killer was guilty. Sombre telling of what happened. Sympathetic to the victim and her family.
About Kim Wall, couldn’t watch it..way too soon for me. Poor girl and poor parents. She was an outstanding journalist.

Oh i want to watch this. Poor kim wall. Must have been terrifying.

Watching with interest and adding my love of Dark.

I love how immersive foreign dramas are. I'm terrible for getting distracted by my phone when watching TV so foreign dramas force me out of that.

PAFMO · 15/04/2022 13:09

Money Heist and The Bridge.
Also adding the rest!

Thornrose · 15/04/2022 13:16

I love Walter Presents, so many great subtitled dramas.

I really enjoyed Greyzone, When the dust settles and Snow Angels. Too many to list actually...Smile

craggyrat · 15/04/2022 19:02

Netflix French - Le Chalet and Walter Presents Italian - Ice Cold Murders - both fab

Tiredtimster · 15/04/2022 19:26

I've just finished Public Enemy - Belgium. Had to get 1st series on Amazon prime but season 2 on sky.
Gomorrah was my favourite though

TheRocketWillFly · 16/04/2022 14:29

If you liked Into the lake I think you’ll like Black Crab!

TheRocketWillFly · 16/04/2022 14:30

To the lake obviously, not into..

TanteRose · 16/04/2022 14:38

Giri/Haji is brilliant - set in London and Tokyo

FrancescaContini · 16/04/2022 14:54

Binge-watched the first three episodes of Snow Angels on Walter Presents last night. Compelling but not easy viewing; pretty damning critique of the Swedish social care so far (very overly trusting of parents). Can’t wait to watch the next three. Thanks for the recommendation!

I thought Gomorrah was superb - saw it on DVD (remember those?!) a few years ago.
