Inhuman Resources is quite good (french)

TheGratefulBread · 29/04/2022 10:47

So glad I've found this thread, because I've got a week old baby, so I'm adding all the ones I haven't seen to my watchlist during maternity leave. I love foreign dramas, especially crime and/or thriller ones.

On All4- The Lawyer, The Adulterer, Swingers, The Other Mother, Deliver Us (fantastic actor playing the villain), The Twelve
Netflix- agree with pp re The Defeated- this has been the most satisfying watch since Babylon Berlin (think that was on Sky), also Undercover

My top 3 of all time would be Before we Die, Babylon Berlin and The Bridge- there's also a Danish one that stuck with me about 2 brothers in a war- think the title was a year (18 something)

Have also started re-watching Occupied on Netflix- about Norway being occupied by Russia, is extra chilling in light of recent times.

Babylon Berlin was EXCELLENT, wasn't it? Really unusual, stylish, witty but horrifying too. I wonder if the books are worth a read?

Dame, Charlotte Ritter is one of my favourite ever characters, and the music in Babylon Berlin is so good- the Bryan Ferry stuff but also that lovely Du bist alles (is on youtube) where all the actors are in the video

DameHelena · 29/04/2022 12:28

Agree, I love Charlotte, and the actor's performance was so good. And yes, amazing music.

I loved the bridge (Danish/Swedish) on iplayer.

I loved the bridge (Danish/Swedish) on iplayer.

The Bridge is utterly brilliant, I’m currently rewatching it all. It’s only on iPlayer for another three or four weeks though so anyone planning to watch it there needs to get bingeing.

a Danish one that stuck with me about 2 brothers in a war- think the title was a year (18 something) - @user1471504821 - 1864. I haven't seen it but am aware of it because it features the fabulous actor Nicholas Bro - he who played Freddie in The Bridge series 3 and Thomas Buch in The Killing series 2.

I watched The Bar today. After 20 minutes I realised that the bearded one was Mario Casas! Didn't really enjoy it; too silly, but each to their own.

I've just started Unit 42 on Netflix. It's about a Belgian cyber crimes unit. Each episode is a separate story and of course the cops each have a back story. Enjoying it.

Ok so this is probably annoying because it's on prime rather than Netflix and it's spies rather than crime but The Bureau is really good. It's French.

On Netflix Fauda is supposed to be good but I haven't got round to watching it yet.

I adored the Bureau.

Zotter · 01/05/2022 20:16

I second both the French cop series Spiral and the fictional Italian series Gomorrah about Naples crime families. Both stunning tv. Enjoying reading the other suggestions here too. Will check out Fauda.

Zotter · 01/05/2022 20:31

I missed you didn’t list the Bridge. To me it’s part of the canon of Scandinavian noir and one that must not be missed.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 02/05/2022 06:41

The Bridge
Trapped
Giri/Haji

as my suggestions and also a place mark

jellybeans · 29/05/2022 08:42

Great thread.
Have just finished Capitani and enjoyed it.
Also liked The Forest
Dark
The Rain
The Woods
Bordertown
The Killing

Found this online📧
"Currently you are able to watch "Babylon Berlin" streaming on Sky Go, Now TV or buy it as download on Amazon Video, Apple iTunes, Google Play Movies."

I would love to watch this but have neither of the streaming services mentioned. It costs £15.99 per series on Prime and I won't be doing that!

AnyFucker · 01/06/2022 11:55

Will give that a miss then, thanks

NOW TV costs £10 a month but if you sign up for the first time you get the first week free and then it’s £5 a month for the first two months. You can cancel at anytime.
