I know ,I'm not sure I can watch tomorrow's episode,Alison's story was so sad😥

Yoloohno · 17/03/2022 23:10

This storyline was horrific at the time, I was overdue my first baby. I didn’t really watch it and I certainly wouldn’t remember the aftermath.

Watching it again and seeing it with new eyes it was such a tear jerking story.

Oh god I can imagine Definitely not something pregnant women should be watching 😢

I wish they wouldn't have such terrible storylines. I think I had to blank it out. Kevin seems to have forgotten about Alison, which is highly unlikely.

WomanStanleyWoman · 18/03/2022 10:53

When Kevin married Abi, Debbie did mention it was his fourth marriage (including two to Sally). I think the writing team must all watch the classic episodes - we’re seeing a lot more references to past characters and situations these days.

I remember when it came out that Jenny’s son had died, Kevin said ‘I don’t know what it’s like to lose a child’ - and a large number of viewers said ‘Er, yes he does!’ I later read that Michael Le Vell had actually pointed this out to the producers, but they’d run with the script anyway. I’d like to think that wouldn’t happen now.

Omg… that was a horrendous ending 😫 poor Alison .

Akire · 18/03/2022 17:55

I knew about baby I was not expecting that! Though poor women they probably would have sent her some secure unit no doubt for every and a day. So sad

x2boys · 18/03/2022 18:02

Such a sad storyline
So lacking in security though ,when my babies were born they had alarms put on their ankles untill we left hospital
Plus why did the midwives not check Alison for a few hours, she had just lost her baby !

GreenClock · 18/03/2022 21:24

Naomi Ratcliffe absolutely nailed that storyline. She was brilliant. It was so difficult to watch.

I thought that Tina O’Brien has been fab too.

As a pp said, Fiz can’t be far off. She arrives as a foster child I think. She’s not much younger than Tyrone and Maria and they’re 17/18 so it has to be imminent.

OnTheBoardwalk · 18/03/2022 21:40

I wasn’t watching at the time first time round so was shocked. I found the storyline shocking but so well acted.

I don’t know why it’s not mentioned in any classic Corrie storyline type programmes. Yes is difficult to watch but was a moving storyline

OnTheBoardwalk · 18/03/2022 21:41

And Tina O’Brien deserves more that the current Lydia story garbage

x2boys · 18/03/2022 22:26

Yes Tina O ,Brien us a much better actress then they give her credit for in modern Corrie ( I only watch it occasionally though)
She was also brilliant today

x2boys · 18/03/2022 22:34

I thought that was a brilliant scene in the hospital with Sarah -Lou finally realising how much her baby means to her and Gail and Audrey realising too brilliant acting all round .

AmberLynn1536 · 18/03/2022 22:57

What brilliant acting from all the cast, the storylines and interaction between characters is so natural it really does feel like you are watching real people’s lives, unlike current Corrie which feels like watching a school play or the local amateur dramatic society.

Akire · 18/03/2022 23:37

That’s true she’s cracking actor in classic now she now has 3 facial expressions. The sexy come bed look , or the raised eye brow surprise or shouting face. All very bored and flat. Please someone check the CCTV of factory or hotel goodness they are supposed work in law.

Hoping Martin story lines ends soon it’s getting seriously boring now. Can’t stand watching all the snogging.

HuntingoftheSnark · 19/03/2022 07:16

I've realised that the same episodes are on in the afternoon and also at 6am the following day when I can watch them - I was a bit confused! I'll stay away from this thread from now on 😀.

I didn't understand this post at first eggandonion then I realised it's because I haven't watched modern Corrie for a long time.

I thought it was well done and scripted, I very nearly lost DS to a serious heart defect. These things happen, far more than we would wish.

Yy was thinking yesterday how good she was, I wonder how old Tina was herself at the time?
x2boys · 19/03/2022 08:23

She was 3 years older then the character so sixteen, very realistic though and Candice is very good too she does sound like a typical teenage girl .

MrFsAunt · 19/03/2022 08:41

Agreed.

eggandonion · 19/03/2022 13:13

I know sad things happen, but the past twenty years on Coronation Street have surely seen more tragedies than a normal street?
I remember Alison and her baby, which was a really sad story...but they have overdone murder and death since then.

Definitely and not only that but it's really over the top .Alison's story was well acted and believable I only occasionally catch modern Corrie it's like a completely different show ,the whole sink hole nonsense ,the whole street should have disappeared into one and they could have started again 😂.

Fair enough ! As I said I don't watch the modern one - I can see how it could get a bit much.
eggandonion · 22/03/2022 16:05

Gwen! Martin!
Poor kevin though.

MrFsAunt · 23/03/2022 19:06
