Tomorrow's episodes are fabulous.

LilyAndTheKing · 06/06/2023 08:50

Housewife2010 I'm so looking forward to today's episodes, I can remember watching the original. Not always the case.

LilyAndTheKing · 06/06/2023 08:50

And yeah Deirdre's molds always make me smile, they sadly removed them in later years.

Anytimeiseeit · 06/06/2023 10:52

I’m looking forward to todays episodes but I feel sad about it this time around because I know what’s going to happen and im
not ready to lose that person. I’m not sure it’s possible to do a spoiler of a 20 year old show but I won’t say in case anyone hasn’t seen it!!

MrBit · 06/06/2023 11:21

It's going to be good
Cuppa and biscuits at the ready I think

eggandonion · 06/06/2023 12:34

Oh I can't watch.

Housewife2010 · 06/06/2023 14:51

I watched today's episode with my late Mum. At the pivotal Richard moment I sneaked on a black.leather glove and raised my hand & made my Mum jump out of her skin. 🤣

Housewife2010 · 06/06/2023 14:56

I find Doreen so irritating. Wish Richard would get rid of her.

whomoon · 06/06/2023 16:34

Poor Ashley! And to be lead out the house in handcuffs too, would that really have happened?

The look on Richard’s face when Norris said Emily was alive.

I remembered watching this the first time round but had forgotten the details around it and Richard setting up Aidan. I don’t recall what happened afterwards though so looking forward to the eventual unravelling.

Guacamole001 · 06/06/2023 16:37

Oh my God what exciting episodes today! I never saw these two episodes the first time around as I must have been busy doing shift work but do recall watching some of them.

Anytimeiseeit · 06/06/2023 16:55

Maxine! 😭 I found the episode really sad. So much of Ashley cradling Maxine whilst saying nothing! I didn’t remember that they showed her body so much the first time round. Richard truly is a horror

Tourist29 · 06/06/2023 18:54

Such a shame Maxine was written out I really liked her from the time she was friends with Fiona

LockIn · 06/06/2023 20:57

Fantastic episodes today. It all seemed so well done and must have been very exciting watching it the first time when you didn't know what was going to happen. Poor Ashley Sad

As an aside, the "barmaids are meant to be leered at" line did stick out to me- I hope that things have moved on from that in 20 years!

I thought I'd remembered it all, but yes I forgot about Aidan being set up as well.
Richard's face..he was so incompetent at everything really, even murder.

LilyAndTheKing · 06/06/2023 21:29

And I can't remember exactly how it unravels for Richard either (apart from that famous scene involving a canal)

Skinnermarink · 06/06/2023 21:50

It’s a gripping storyline but Doreen’s acting was so wooden.

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 06/06/2023 23:16

I think I was only half watching it - I do remember Richard and the crow bar/Emily/Maxine but none of the stuff about Aidan and nothing about what happens next. I know about the canal but not sure I watched that or just know about it through Corrie lore 😂

ColonelNobbyNobbs · 06/06/2023 23:17

Like in those days we didn’t have TiVo or catch up and I was only 23 so out and about a lot more that I am now! Probably just saw it when I saw it!

HazelBite · 07/06/2023 05:54

What I can't remember is if after the "people carrier in the water" episode if people/the police linked all these murders/crimes to Richard Hillman?

AmberLynn1536 · 07/06/2023 08:19

It really struck me after those brilliant episodes quite how far Corrie has demised, the party scene in the Rovers, jam packed with people, noisy and full of atmosphere, bar staff actually working and not just standing there doing sod all as they do now, it felt like a real pub, a real party, nowadays there would be about 3 main characters and 2 extras which would constitute a knees up. I have also noticed dialogue is so much longer, proper conversations between characters you don’t get that now either.

This 100%. I stared watching classic Corrie a few years ago and the noise and bustle in the rovers actually made me feel like I was in a pub. (The 90’s outfits helped with my nostalgia too!)
it’s so unbelievably different to the rovers scenes now with the staff standing doing nothing and no one in the pub. I’ve stopped watching new Corrie since I stared watching classic, new Corrie is absolutely pants compared to how it used to be

Skinnermarink · 07/06/2023 10:22

I also ditched recent Corrie when o started getting into classic Corrie! It was written properly. It’s totally shite now.

MrBit · 07/06/2023 15:49

Which shop is Aiden camping out in , is it Sally's old hardware shop?
Also how did Steve become the sole owner of the house he rents to Eileen ?

thenightsky · 07/06/2023 17:19

Would the police really be so utterly vile to poor Ashley?

Yes it’s Sally’s old hardware shop.

Apparently Dev owns it now though because of the amusement arcade planning not going down well with Roy, so you’d think he’d be aware of it not being secure!

I can’t remember the detail with the house. His mum, Liz, owned it, and I think when she went off she wanted nothing more to do with it so signed it over to Steve to manage as landlord?
