Just watched the one where Rita visits Bet. Finding Bet more drag queen than ever. Her facial expressions of smile v pensive reflection are delivered with a sledgehammer (acorn antiques sprang to mind). Noticed this was directed by Daran Little who did Benidorm ( haven’t seen it but imagine Bet would fit in well)

I’ve enjoyed Bet’s scenes. You can tell she’s from a different era of acting than the rest.

She always seems to have a story to tell. And each story. Has pensive pauses. For her eyes to look down. And her eyes to look to the side. Waiting for the camera to slowly pan in. As she remembers fondly. Of the man she lost forever.

Boy does she hold a grudge too!

Daran Little also wrote Mike Baldwin's 60th birthday episode. What a good episode that was, brilliant acting from the senior members of the cast.

I have no memory at all of Maureen Lipman being a Fred love interest/landlady of The Rovers, yet I was an avid follower of Corrie back then.
