Is anyone watching? No one I know in real life watches so I have no one to talk about it with- I'm on the current series on TLC when Kody is going all crazy paranoid about Covid

This is one of the channels I watch. This post looks particularly interesting!

BrieAndChilli · 20/01/2022 11:34

Does anyone else wonder if Robyn has exaggerated her childrens issues in order to keep them dependant on her?
I know we only see snapshots but her eldest always comes across as mature and able and so as a mother she should be equipping him with the skills to become indpendant. My eldest is HF ASD so i do understand that there are issues that may not be apparent to others but i get the impression she likes them being dependant so wont do the work to enable them to leave!

If Robyn had the choice between going to spend thanksgiving with Christine and her children along with Kody or spending it without Kody but with her kids who do you think she would choose? Most mothers would choose their kids but i'm not actually sure with Robyn!!

His whole ' i can now see who is loyal' crap is unbelievable! Janelle (or Christine?) was so right when she said respect should go both ways.

I wonder if Robyn is really feeling the strain of the monogamous lifestyle? Before when he did split his time evenly it was probably easy to be the fun, sexy one as she probably made sure that every 4 days she was at Kodys beck and call but when hes around 24/7 its probably knackering plus she has the kids to deal with (or not as she has a nanny!)

itrytomakemyway · 20/01/2022 11:43

I just watched the trailer for the Thanksgiving episode and Kody's 'loyalty' speech. What a manchild he is.

Christine and Janelle have done exactly what every good mother would do. They put their kids first. He must have an ego the size of a house if he believes it is his right to impose his will, not only on his wives, but also on all of his adult children.

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 20/01/2022 12:52

Well, it’s lovely we’re all in agreement!
I’ve just found myself nodding and mhmm-ing at all your posts.
Thank you for the YouTube link. I’ll get on it now (breastfeeding a newborn so I’ve got hours to fill while sitting on the sofa)

Iamdobby63 · 20/01/2022 14:02

I have just watched the latest on Discovery plus, episode 20 The Teflon Queen

I’m not sure where to start. Kody reached a new low on this one.

He is so wracked with anger and resentment that the wives aren’t bowing to his demands that he is allowing this to destroy his relationships with his children. He actually states that Robyn is his only obedient wife. Janelle was completely thrown under the bus, thankfully Christine defended her.

All a bit confusing that he’s moaning that the wives didn’t relay his covid rules which kept him away from them for 8 months but as we saw two episodes or so ago he only just gave them the magic list. So that is BS.

Gabe came across very mature, far more so than his Dad did, but boy Kody really can’t get his head out of his own arse. So unfeeling towards his son who was in tears.

Then it’s Janelles mums funeral and because it suited him he broke all his own rules, took a test and ran back to Robyn.

So looking forward to next weeks! Finally one person saying they are not prepared to be treated like this.

crochetmonkey74 · 20/01/2022 14:37

Also I feel they are downplaying his rules to 'wash your groceries' 'change clothes' as if those are the rules the wives won't follow

I think it is more likely that they can't ever complete the never ending quarantine

OP posts:
BrieAndChilli · 20/01/2022 14:45

I haven't watched Janelle's mums funeral yet but have seen comments online and i cannot believe that he broke his covid rules to go to a funeral but wouldn't do it to accompany his own daughter for major surgery!!!! I'm pretty sure that fact right there is when Christine decided to leave him!!

Iamdobby63 · 20/01/2022 15:08

But Kody made it pretty clear that even if they said they were following those rules Kody won’t believe them anyway…. So what’s the point 🤷‍♀️

Sounds very cruel but I am so happy the Nanny and her husband got covid (assuming they are ok) …. I’m such a bitch

smartiecake · 20/01/2022 18:39

I'm so happy to see this thread. I'm totally over invested in the Brown family and this show. I have also watched The Teflon Queen and cannot believe what an arse Kody is with his comments on Janelle.

baggies · 20/01/2022 19:35

Just watched the Thanksgiving episode.
When Meri visits Robin's children for the first time the Christmas tree is up. When they have Thanksgiving dinner it isn't. Bit confused!
Can't believe Robin's attitude towards Christine and Janelle preferring to be with their kids rather than hers.
I did think it was lovely to see Robins kids so animated and excited to see Meri. That was touching. Interesting that she chose them over her daughter and mum.

itrytomakemyway · 20/01/2022 19:41

I think that Meri chose Robyn's kids because she and they seem to genuinely love each other. I also think she did it because she thinks that by siding with Robyn she will please Kody. It is painful to watch her so desperate to be accepted back by him while he is so cruel about her.

Imworkingonit · 20/01/2022 22:46

I've watched this from the beginning when it was 'my four wives'.

I watched the Teflon Queen today on Discovery plus. I couldn't believe Kody's response to Gabe. He was such a twat and really inappropriate how he was talking about his wives. He said Janelle is avoiding blame but it seemed very much like that's exactly what he's doing.

He's whining so much about how the wives and kids are stopping the family from being together but as far as I can see he's set arbitrary rules and is insisting on absolute obedience without question. Not doing so is being framed as not caring enough. He's coming across as slightly unhinged at the moment. Way too angry and very controlling.

The glimpse of the next episode showing the start on Christine leaving has left me conflicted. On the one hand this is real-life and watching the breakdown of the family is very sad and feels quite uncomfortable to watch. On the other I'm delighted she's getting out.

Limer · 21/01/2022 07:36

Just watched the Thanksgiving episode. Some classic Kody-isms:

"I never want to see my wives sharing a kitchen" = "I use divide and rule as a tactic to control my underlings".

"How you love a man is to respect him" = "I demand blind, unquestioning obedience".

"Makes me mad at myself that I haven't been more in charge" = "Oh shit, the underlings aren't dancing to my tune any more".

I thought Meri's rice krispies turkey was brilliant!

crochetmonkey74 · 21/01/2022 08:57

I have watched The Teflon Queen too

some thoughts about the last two episodes

  1. Meri is so socially awkward and seems to always misjudge her 'jokes' - The rice krispie turkey was great, but it is right at a sensitive trigger point for Robyn (who hasn't got much of a sense of humour)
  2. Kody did not even hug Gabe at the end of that big chat- he was so cold!
  3. When Kody called Janelle the Teflon Queen it was so hateful- basically Kody doesn't like women unless they are doing what he says and there is no demonstration of him defending the mothers to the children- as a united front of parents
  4. I agree with Imworkingonit that he is becoming more unhinged and angry
  5. Hated the way Robyn spoke to the kids about the other wives kids - no understanding that they might be struggling with lockdown - the only people who matter are the people in the house where Kody is
  6. Robyn always seems to me like one of those people who are a perpetual victim/martyr - you do see them in faith settings sometimes- they imagine suffering to be their trial from God but do nothing to help themselves.
  7. Christine is just growing into herself as she escapes it- she looks great, she speaks sense and she is much less spiky than earlier seasons.

Iamdobby63 · 21/01/2022 10:12

The dictionary could just say Narcissist = Kody Brown

I agree that Kody is becoming more angry and unhinged, could be that the pandemic has highlighted to him that he doesn’t have control over everyone in his life and he doesn’t know how to cope with that. I’m sure we can all agree that the beginning of the pandemic was pretty stressful but that’s no excuse for the lack of effort from Kody towards the rest of the family. As Gabe pointed out, they are adults and why didn’t Kody contact them directly, why did it take Kody 8 months to provide his list of requirements in order to be in his presence? All the other children must feel totally rejected by him and quite rightly so.

I’m still angry Janelle was thrown under the bus, pure deflection from Kody.

As much as I’m cheering Christine on I also agree that it is sad. Kody appears to use removal of love and affection as a means to control and to get someone in line (clearly he even uses this on his children), so I’m hoping there is a ‘shit I wasn’t expecting that moment’ from him but probably not as he would go straight him to Robyn and her brood who will make him feel wonderful and right.

According to Paedon there is another season and Christine is in it.

WildFlowerBees · 21/01/2022 13:01

I've just caught up and I cannot believe how unintelligent Kody is. He has no idea of how a virus behaves.

@AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken

Has anyone seen Big Love? It’s a drama series about a polygamous family. I’m just watching episode one and it’s making me feel very uncomfortable.
Yes, I watched it. It was very good. Plenty of twists and turns. Since cancelling our tv license and getting rid of Sky, I can't watch the new series of sister wives. I've been searching YouTube, but have only found the youtubber giving a commentary on a few episodes.

If you have Facebook and you follow their page there are some videos on there.

They have just put one on to say the nanny has covid! Shock

Distant01 · 21/01/2022 17:51

Thank you Savoy Cabbage. Love the name Grin

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 21/01/2022 19:44

@Distant01
I only got two episodes into Big Love. I found it so uncomfortable to watch. It made my stomach turn!
All the sex scenes where the wives could all hear each other just made me so sad!

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 24/01/2022 16:54

Did anyone watch episode ten “the beginning of the end”?
I hate Kody so much. Punishing her like that.

YES CHRISTINE!

Does anyone else think Christine has got more beautiful as she has got older?

Fletchersromancing · 24/01/2022 17:03

Christine will start to live her best life now surrounded by family and her kids. Wish Meri would follow suit too.

Distant01 · 24/01/2022 17:35

I thought I'd cracked it as DH found all the Sister Wives episodes. I settled down last night to binge watch and they're pay per view ☹️.
A video came up on my Facebook of Christine being upset as Kody had told her he didn't want an intimate relationship with her.
I was a little confused as I thought they'd separated. Have I missed something?

It was only 6 hours old so 🙄

IzzyD0ra · 24/01/2022 17:38

@Distant01 If you have Amazon Prime you can sign up for the free trial of Discovery+ and that has all the episodes of Sister Wives.

Won’t be available until Thursday for me. Is it the last episode of the series? I was wondering if there will be a tell all episode this season. I really feel for Christine in the clips I’ve seen. Does Kody show any remorse/regret whatsoever?
