Is anyone watching? No one I know in real life watches so I have no one to talk about it with- I'm on the current series on TLC when Kody is going all crazy paranoid about Covid

There’s a Facebook page you can watch them on too. Good quality too.

VelvetThunder · 17/01/2022 17:50

The whole lot from the beginning is available on discovery+ which is free for at least a year to sky q customers if that helps anyone. That's where I watch.

LittleBrenda · 17/01/2022 18:24

I’m skipping ahead and I’m watching the new series on YouTube.
I watch on discovery+ too. Discovery+ has the latest new episode on a Sunday and then that episode is on TLC on Sky the next Sunday. So the UK is seven days behind.

The season about Thanksgiving and 'What. Does. The. Nanny. Do?' is the most recent season.

Has anyone seen Big Love? It’s a drama series about a polygamous family.
I’m just watching episode one and it’s making me feel very uncomfortable.

Handonheart2015 · 18/01/2022 10:04

@AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken, I would be interested in watching it. What channel is it on please?

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 18/01/2022 10:08

Sky Atlantic. It’s old so is on box sets 😊

caringcarer · 18/01/2022 10:14

I have watched Sister Wives from series 1. I don't like Robyn. She is clearly Kody's favourite wife and everything has to revolve around her and Kody. I also watched Big Love which was also about a polygamist family with 3 wives.

I haven’t heard of this. What is it on?
Iamdobby63 · 18/01/2022 17:40

Kody really is a big fat failure at this polygamy lark. He seems to think that everyone around him exists to make him feel special. Christine left him, he has no ‘marriage’ with Meri (and doesn’t even seem to like her) and he has hinted that he doesn’t have a romantic relationship with Janelle. What sits deeply uncomfortable is that his feelings for his so called wives seems to reflect on the children they share. Anyone who is remotely independent is rejected by him.

The only ones he appears to treat well are ‘obedient wife’ Sobbin Robyn and her equally emotionally damaged children. He must love how needy they are.

Apologies should have RTT
confuseddotcom1234 · 18/01/2022 17:58

I love this but don't know anyone in rl who watches it. I think Kody is so over the top at the moment it's ridiculous and can't understand how he could not be there for his daughters surgery choosing his younger children instead.
I think Meri seems to have grown in this series she was annoying and always seemed to feel sorry for herself in the last few series but has got better and just so desperate to be loved by Kody who just doesn't care about her.

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 18/01/2022 18:42

I like Janelle. She seems to give the least fucks about Kody.
I want to shake Meri. What is she hanging around for?

SilverSandStorm · 18/01/2022 18:51

I've been watching since the start too. I'm a bit behind on series 9 at the mo and Robyn is really irritating me with all her crying about having to buy a property and not rent. All the while being shown round this beautiful spacious homes, seems so ungrateful to me.

And also how can they afford all this?! Does the show pay that well? I know the wives have sideline businesses too, is sister wives closet still a thing?

I also don't understand why Meri needs a humongous house when it's just her mainly living alone. I really thought when she inherited the B&B she'd up and leave then, she seems so pissed off all of the time.

I'm delighted to hear Christine has left, she's always been my favourite.

KneesAreSore · 19/01/2022 09:34

Janelle has always been my favourite. Very calm, realistic, great mother. I admire how she is with her boys especially. I have sons and she inspires me to be a better mum. Meri is treated terribly by Kody. Awful.

Yeah I really like how much she doesn't need Kody I was confused about Meri in the lockdown though as I follow her on social media and she seemed to be locked down at her Inn with her mum and Mariah and Audrey

Yes I love Janelle and how calm she is. I can understand how she's closer to Christine and most of her kids are as when they were little Janelle worked all the time and Christine stayed at home to look after them all and help raise them!

crochetmonkey74 · 20/01/2022 08:50

I just watched the new episode (Thanksgiving)

Have you all watched?

I did. I think we see the seeds of Christine’s resolution to leave being sewn in it
crochetmonkey74 · 20/01/2022 09:12

I was really shocked by how despotic Kody is!

When he was saying he could see the people who were loyal to him - he was talking about his own children !!

Also- when Robyn was being so weak about Meri coming over " I kept saying to Kody but he took months"
So weak and passive and victimy

GGRRR

Just watched the latest (thanksgiving) one. The wives are really falling into two camps.
I didn't like how Robyn seemed to be stirring the pot with the kids. It's not reasonable to expect Janelle and Christine to choose being with her kids rather than their own at Thanksgiving and how she implied that the wives are choosing not to comply with Kody's batshit rules because they don't care enough about the family - it's really not that easy when Janelle has adult children and Christine has a husband who never prioritises her or her children!

Robyn is in the fortunate position of not having to choose right now because all her kids live at home, but that won't always be the case.

If you choose this lifestyle then surely they have to understand that eventually the kids will branch out and not return home every holiday and that their mums will sometimes want to spend the holidays with them rather than subsequent wives and their children!

Robyn takes things a little too personally - it's not a rejection of her that Janelle's children are close to Christine and want to be where she is - she was also a key mother figure to them when they were little and it's natural that they are really close to her.

I thought Robyn was particularly passive aggressive in the episode when she was talking to her children about the others not coming for thanksgiving. Is she saying she would chose Kody over her own children?

I’ve come to deeply dislike Kody. I hate the way he refers to the wives children as ‘your children’.

He obviously loves being in Robyn’s house where misogyny and patriarchy is allowed and is resenting the other wives for being strong and independent.

Aderyn21 · 20/01/2022 10:10

I also really felt for Meri this episode - she loves those children so much and the fact that they love her so much in return speaks volumes about her, as a person. It's outrageous that Kody just left her isolated like that, when she could have been part of their unit for all those months. And that Robyn didn't fight for her.

itrytomakemyway · 20/01/2022 10:29

I really don't understand what has happened to Meri in the last couple of years. When she bought the b and b she seemed on the verge of leaving and being her own person. I know she does not always come across very well but I think her daughter and Kodi have always treated her very badly. Her daughter was pushing her to try for IVF when she must have been into her mid forties, and was sulking when she decided not to. For goodness sake, she has more than enough siblings and no sympathy for what must be a constant regret for Meri.

Just as I thought Meri would come to her senses and move into the b and b on her own we get this new series. She is in Flagstaff and desperate for any small crumb of affection from Kodi who is treating he so cruely. She is being publicly humiliated. I think Meri is desperate to be friends with Robyn because she is clearly the favoured wife, and this might earn her a tiny bit of reward from Kodi.

I have always liked Janelle. She knows her own mind and has a life of her own. It's good to see Christine finally growing a backbone and seeing herself as more than just the child care provider for the family. I was disgusted that Kodi was so selfish over Isabelle's op - he would still have that poor girl in pain and waiting for a time to better suit him now if he had his own way. What kind of a father does not put a child who so needed him first. Robyn and her kids should have taken a back seat for a few weeks. He didn't even hug her for goodness sake.

I agree that the wives have done a great job with the kids - they all seem really lovely. Kodi takes none of the credit for that, especially with the girls as he makes so little effort with them. It's interesting that the older boys, who he always seemed to have more time for, are now seeing him for what he is. I doubt any of the children will have plural marriages.

DialSquare · 20/01/2022 10:38

I watch he latest episodes on Youtube too. I also watch Youtubers talking about them (I'm that sad!).
Apparently, Janelle fell for Kody whilst still married to Meri's brother which would explain some of the issues they have had between them.
I'm also struggling to understand why Meri stays. I know why Kody wants her to as she earns upwards of $685k a year (according to one youtuber). I'd have left them all in the dust years ago. Can'
t wait for the next episode as its the start of Christine putting in her boundaries.

DialSquare · 20/01/2022 10:40

Meri's Mum died in March 2021 and she has moved to the B&B to take over. As PP said, this latest series is over a year behind. The Thanksgiving and Christmas episodes were in respect of 2020.
